I've always seen Brand New's discography being the "story" of Jesse Lacey. YFW: Things start off rather innocuously; Jesse is just an immature kid in his early 20's complaining about his girlfriend(s) and Taking Back Sunday. Deja Entendu: Jesse unapologetically reveals he's a monster and cranks up his Morrissey/Smiths obsession with the sentence long titles and lyrically dense songs. Devil and God: Jesse now has an existential crisis because he's been a terrible person. Daisy: Jesse goes completely crazy. Science Fiction: Jesse gets much needed therapy and mellows out.

You didn't really explain why you disliked the lower albums. Especially Self titled, you just yapped about how some of the songs were just standard and boring and didn't elaborate at all and just glazed the good stuff

Yeah, I don't think it was Deftones's dream to become a nu-metal. More like they were lumped into that music genre because of their association with Korn alone. Chino and Jon go way back, this was before either of them were even famous. Deftones were basically skater boys from late-80s Sacremento, California who became friends with some boys from Bakersfield, California (I'm talking Korn) and the rest is history.

I can stop whenever I want to. I just see no reason to.
