I'm totally with your guest that philosophy, reason and logic, can open the door to the spiritual path of mystical experience by firstly, and importantly, having it make so much sense that we can finally give ourselves permission to give up reason, which is what we have in the beginning of the quest and must then relinquish, in order to have the experience.

James, have you ever read this amazing Catholic book called "'Meditations on the Tarot" by Valentin Tomberg? I don't agree with everything in it but it's a very good read.

I love being a third party, watching a discussion and learning more about myself. Effective communication seems to be the biggest obstacle. I see the frustration that Mary-Jane has when he mentioned the begger story. Unfortunately, it seems, psychology is underrated in her idea of pantheism. It’s as if she sees part of the problem, but not the whole. I noticed that the second she dismissed atheists for asking the questions why and for not acknowledging that it’s important to know why you believe or follow things (instead of blindly doing so because it feels right… that’s not much different than being religious.

Yes, but if you give up because it didn't work, some of us are actually searching so hard in the first place -----------------for the very reason we have been very depressed and suicidal! So it is not necessarily the case that the longing for this, and not finding it, results in suicide - it can be the very beginning of the motivation to search is suicidal ideation?!!

Your conversation was wonderful... thank you very much. It appeared on my feed and glad I clicked on it. I have taken to studying NDE's to help and guide me along my own experience. Although I haven't had an NDE, I've made the correlation between kundalini awakening and the experiences mentioned here. Why would the universe or what we call God plug in and commence the erase hard drive sequence? I guess that's how one is redeemed or called "home" from all their conditioned structures, limitations and traumas. On the flip side one questions who they are as the mask comes off. The integration aspect is quite intense and I can't contain my poker face as I feel I can now see the fabric of consciousness in everything. Thanks again, loved this talk.
