Hey guys! Finally took the C5 Z06 out to Big Willow Springs. Car had Bridgestone potenzas up front and Nitto NT-05's in the rear. Other than that, the car is basically stock. Got a best time of 1:43 that day, but I have spotted many errors, and I am sure I can hit the 1:30's if I develop a little bit more confidence and get some better tires up front. I know the line wasn't perfect... a lot of ...

Good race at Irwindale. Really took me by surprise. These 5.0s are great with some bolt ons and a cam.

Hey all, this was at Irwindale dragstrip. Got to have a rematch against that same SRT8 Challenger that properly kicked my ass in the mustang. I beat him once, but then he came back with an impressive victory. Hard to believe a car that heavy can move that fast. I actually have to wear a helmet now... yes... Sounds like the bearings in the water pump are shot. My made the same exact noise. When I spun the water pump by hand while still on the car I could not hear the noise but the when the water pump was off the car and I spun by hand the same noise was clear as day.
Yes its the water pump I drove around a few days like that then all of a sudden started leaking coolant fluid from the front of the water pump, replaced it and it is good now.
No wonder my v6 raped this shit. Slow ass car.

It’s a manual, but also I haven’t seen that many c5s that are any slower.

@@joefriesen5296 yeah the autos are dogs. I blame the gearing… first going to 60mph with a car that generates “only” 345 horsepower is unreasonable for performance. I ain’t the best shifter but .18 seconds 3rd to 4th gear is pretty good.

Those numbers can't be right. From thr factory the torque was 375 I believe. Something is seriously wrong for it to only be 308ft lbs

The late model 01-04 manual c5s where rated at 375(01-04 auto was 360). This is a 99 featuring a lower torque and power camshaft(stock is 345 horsepower and 350 torque). I’m sure he’s reading rear wheel power and torque. Often times it’s 10-15 percent lower on manual vehicles. 0-60 in 4.6 was the factory time for the late model c5s, so a late model can probably do 4.5.
@@ryanrake2714 why would Torque be less on manual. Wouldn’t it be more power to the wheels as it loses less power compared to a torque converter
These type of pulls on access roads etc are my favorite. Stoplight drags. 0-80 mph you are only .8 seconds slower than my stock 01 Z06 with the same type of launch basically off idle. Back when it was warm out I had a video of my car miraculously managing a really hard takeoff and getting like a 4.0 second 0-60. I was not expecting the car to actually hook, it caught me off guard and really put me in the seat

Yep, that’s where you lean torque, obviously it’s your car, don’t let me tell you how to drive it, but peak power hits at 5400, if you want just take her up their and see how she feels. Your engine should be fine but do what your comfortable with.

@@ryanrake2714 Yep, those ls are solid. My 5.3’s in my Silverados are redlined everyday with 300k miles. No maintenance on motor except routine tune up.
@@TheAsianHammer I agree. If an engine cant handle being pulled to redline regularly(or your uncomfortable doing so for mechanical reasons) you need a new car. Sure I don't redline my car daily, but I am within a couple hundred rpms daily(210k miles).
