Durban is such a nice area. the system I am running it on is the xbox series S (the R6999) one, with internet to stream the satellite geometry aswell. not sure what GPU or CPU it needs. xbox makes it nice, just plug and play.. also its part of the game pass (where you get 100 games, including flight simulator for around R135 per month

I think bring it along regardless. I dont think people worry anymore because the restrictions might hamper the usage of the drone. But there will be times when u might just actually use if for a photo or so. The kruger national park might totally prohibit drones. Just find out if the airport around panormama is 10km radius. If not you should be fine

It’s actually a120feet for unlicensed pilots and restricted line of sight only, which means you may never loose sight of your drone;)

If you do want to bring your drone, it’s best to check out South African fly zones before you plan any drone filming. Please note: no drone filming in any national parks or nature reserves - you can face a R10million fine or ten years in jail. A quick way to spot them is to check in google maps On the default map view. All areas marked green will also be no fly zones;) do even though your DJI might say it’s ok to fly, if it’s a nature reserve you’ll get in trouble if someone asks you if you have permission to fly there

Hi Neels. I got a friend that is part of a drone group. I can post on the drone group and ask if someone that is close by can take a drone and take video shots of the when the flood is on its peak

The drone should work there. Just illegal to fly it there. More worried about people complaining. My friend flew his drone at mosselbay point and his pics was asked to be taken down

There is a military base in Mosselbay - I would not under any circumstances fly my drone there. You will get arrested and possibly gave either a massive fine or jail time😬

Thank you so much🙏🏻 oddly enough just the xbox one controller. Its so easy how they designed the layout of controls. Just make sure ur internet line is good. It struggles abit with larger cities. But its more my internet (fiber) 50mbps that might have rendering issues i suppose. But not ofthen so i usually pause the game and wait for the scenery to render

The thing is. If its not near public roads, or 10km radius from any airport it should be fine. The issue is, even if you flew over a public road, people can still complain and report you to the Aviation authority. I had a nice video where I flew over the outeniqua pass, as the cars passed below me, but i could not place it on fb, nor youtube, in case the the wrong person see the video, then they can report the video and make them issue myself a fine. This is the reason why I decided to sell the drone.

But. If you get permission from the building owner, lets say a church or a landmark you should be fine. I even flew over the George’s court and police station with the drone before a guy from the public saw my fb and youtube video post. He messaged me and warned me to take it off, its in restricted airspace. I was shocked. No one told me that this type of law even existed.

also if it is apart of a national park, so in cape town one cant fly a drone on lions head or table mountain because it forms part of Table Mountain national park. for me it isnt worth investing in one at the moment sadly

If you don’t plan to make money from the footage on TH-cam and just showing for the pure joy of sharing. Soonest you get any income or gain in any way or form, from any part of the video showing drone footage, it is illegal to do so.

Kak thing is, to fly legally you need to go and write this very expensive RPL license. It's basically as intensive and doing a pilot license for a fully manned aircraft. So ya, can't really fly anywhere at all. I wish they could at least updates their laws for small sub 250g drones, like the Dji Mini 2.
