You need health insurance that covers the whole stay. Other than that with around 50 $ a day it's not a luxury but a good life.
1,600$ is big money in Cambodia. You can really live well here.

Cambodia I’ve heard around $1000 with just a TEFL, so I’d imagine $1200+ with a TEFL and degree

Problem is all the negative media which is somewhat deserved however i find people from Asia (not all but a few i met) don't erase the stereotypes for a individua. I mean blacks commit crime more often, however you shouldn't meet a black dude and think he is a criminal. Adding onto the media aspect, negative things tend to get more publicity. They've also had the same sentiment forever. Like the saying goes "a few bad apples spoil the bunch"
