I can not just stand by and not express my opinion on the state of affairs. The best prediction of what is to come is by looking at the past.

On a trip to Salzburg, Austria in November 2021 we took in the sights and took a cable car to the top of the mountain overlooking Salzburg. In the restaurant at the top of the Untersberg and cable car, we talked with another couple about what we had seen (the beauty all around us) and what these trips meant. As we were getting ready to leave the parking lot, he (Kyle McGoldrick) offered me a CD...

I was fourteen, with a driver's license in hand, when my parents bought me a Yamaha twin jet 100. I'm feeling the freedom! I attended a concert at Ohio State University homecoming in 1969, where Sha Na Na was the lead-off group, followed by Steppenwolf. I also saw John Kay in a small club in Augusta, Georgia in the late 1980s.

You never know what you will see. Have fun!
F15-4 JUL 78. this is cool
That's really great. I hope they had a nice life together.
I think that they did. He was a member of the Deutsche Harmonie in Galion, Ohio, while she came to America from Germany, alone when she was 18.
@@Explor5252 She was very brave travelling all that way alone in those times! The hand made veil she is wearing is gorgeous.

May through July 1972. Then off to Fort Polk. 11C baby!!
Thanks for this video. I was stationed there from 1994 to 1997. I was there when it was closed down and we all moved out and went to Funari Barracks in Mannheim. I was part of 5th Signal Command.
I live in Worms since birth and i didn't know about this part and it's history. i guess we always drove around it. Thanks for sharing, learned something new!
That is true even with me, I visited some of those places when I lived there but was not aware of much of the history. I did much more research prior to my return some 45 years ago. This was a great place for traveling all over Europe.
I was stationed at Worms from 1977 to 1979
Basic Training August 1972. B-12-5. Went AIT FT, Gordon Ga. 2 Weeks into AIT our orders for South East Asia were canceled and remained at Ft. Gordon for my 3 years as I volunteered before getting drafted. Didn't help much. MOS changed from 81M to 81A and was a draftsman for COE. Still trying to find my old year book as my mom threw my original one away.
Well, we were at both Fort Knox and Fort Gordon. I went to Fort Gordon after basic and attended 72B training which was part of my enlistment contract. I too volunteered before getting drafted, but took 4 years, so I picked MOS and where I would go after AIT training. I chose Europe and then spent 4 years in Germany.
We are not individuals! Brothers is in war ! Friends in piece !💯🏁🇺🇸
Ft.Knox B-18-4 August 1982!!!
Your experience in the Army is almost a mirror image of mine. I went in in December 1972 and went through Basic at Ft. Leonard Wood Missouri then Cavalry School at Ft. Knox and ultimately spent 6 in Armor and Cav Units in Germany. Spent a total of 14 years counting my Reserve time and was a SSG then went to college and became Armor Officer. I wouldn't trade my time in the Army for anything. It helped me throughout my life.
I was there Ft. Knox 1975 September the 8th Delta 16/2. Thanks for the great memories 😅
B-3-1 1979
Alpha Troop, 5/15 '09. Heartbreak, Misery, and Agony were still alive and well. We also didnt sing cadence while running, because we were running too fast. Last cycle that "wall-to-wall" training was allowed. 50% attrition rate. The most fun I never want to have again.
Willard field
October 1993. E 2/46 3rd Platoon. Bushmasters! Love these stories!
Mike, I lived there 73-74, and am going back to visit June 2024. Do you have any idea how to get to TJV (Thomas Jefferson Village) housing? Thanks!
It is not far from Taukkunen barracks, you take the tunnel under the tracks which can be seen from barracks now a hotel. Once you go thru the tunnel it is on the left.

It Jan. 15th, 1973, I was 19yrs old grew up in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida when I got off the bus at Ft. Knox, Kentucky I'd thought I stepped into a whole new world. Cold to the bone and shaking due the winter. My draft number that year was 55, and I knew where they would send me if I got drafted. So, to avoid being drafted I joined the Army for 3 years and was promised (not that I believed them) stateside for one year. Wouldn't you know 12 days later Nixon dropped the draft. Spent the next eight weeks in Basic Training in the cold part of my known world. From here I went to Fort Gordon, Ga. for A.I.T. as a Military Police. First duty station Ft. Stewart, Ga, then south again to Opa-Locka, Fl with Awol/App team, then southeast to San Juan, Puerto Rico where I remained until Jan. 15th, 1976. Looking back, I wouldn't have changed anything. Norm
B co. 18 . 5th training brigade. Old 2 story WW2 barracks..
This eas like being back together with my old company. I wish all of you well and happy Holidays 🤓🙏🏾
I was there 1991-93. I was an Army x-ray tech with the 13th Medical Detachment . We were deactivated in 1993. What a great community we were.
Hi Mike, I liked your video about Worms,I lived there myself before I relocated to Great Britain Lots of good memories

I was stationed at Tompkins in '76-77. 649th Engr. Batt. Went back once in about '86. Would love to go again. Thanks for the tour!
Thanks for the reminder. I was a Drill Sergeant at D-16-4 at Ft Knox from 72-75.

yeah of course it's when you walk towards the rhine bridge. do you want a picture of it?
Thank you for this nice video Mr. Kurtzman. My father was also stationed at Taukkunen Barracks in the late 50's.
man I was there in the 90s with a joint training barracks buildings still standing then :) Remember some "art" on the walls from I guess the 70s pretty cool and the old cook with a cig in her mouth asking about grits LOL
D-18-5, Nov 71. Fort Knox. Then AIT at Fort Jackson 11B10. Remember like it was yesterday!
Ft. Knox, August 72 to Oct. 72, A co. 13th Training Battalion 4th Training Brigade. I was the platoon guide for my platoon. I lost 35 lbs. And was tough as nails. I did not enjoy every minute, but overall, I obviously made it. A.I.T. at Ft. Huachuca, Arizona. MOS 17L Airborne Sensor Specialist later changed to 96H, Aerial Intelligence Specialist. Flew Right seat in an OV-1 MOHAWK. secondary MOS 71P Flight Operations Specialist. Fond memories now. I wish I knew where my old buddies are now?
Good Gawd. VOLAR Biggest cluster in the history of the military.
I graduated AIT recon in February 1972 at Ft Knox . I was what our senior drill sergeant called us Nixons Guerillas ( National Guard).
I did my basic and AIT at Ft Knox in the fall of 1980...
AIT 63Y Track Vehicle Mechanic. Co A 2D Bn 4th Brigade. FT KNOX OCT-NOV 1981. Concrete Barracks

I went to Ft Leonard Wood in March 1972. I did all that this guy did.
I miss sounding off during PT. I haven't heard those "SONGS" in over thirty years and I still remember them. It literally takes your mind away from fatigue. You could run all day!!!! 92Y "Quartermaster Soldier"!!!
I got goosebumps hearing them call cadence. We were in the new buildings and the sound bouncing off of the buildings was cartoon loud but sergeant loved it.👍🏾
I took basic and AIT here in 1975 for the Michigan Nat. Guard. B-17-5. I understand all those wooden WW2 barracks are all gone now. "Disneyland," was where we took tank training. Also, there were only two of us who knew how to drive a stick shift so we ended up with cush jobs driving trucks.
I did basic training at Ft. Knox about a year earlier than you, Mike. I remember the two hills, Misery and Agony. Good times! Thanks for your video.
Why we did three hills? I knew something was wrong with our drill Sargents. Spider man seemed to pop up anytime. We knew he didn't have a girl.🤓 Yeah! Agony Misery and Heartache. One guy dropped midway Up misery we had to carry him to the top where the ambulance waited.
Dad-' boot camp was at Ft Knox in 1943. Transfered to the 7thAD and fought in Holland through the BoB.
