Building a DIY, O-Ring 60% Keyboard out of Acrylic
In this video, we'll walkthrough a recent personal build of a 60% keyboard I designed using acrylic, POM, and walnut. Only a little PCB shenanigans.

Machining a Custom Brass Weight for the Tokyo60 Keyboard
มุมมอง 11K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Oh hi everyone, long time no see. In this video, I'll be walking through the process by which I machined a custom weight for a friend's Tokyo60 keyboard out of a sheet of brass. It was a little tragic but hopefully you'll learn from my mistakes and/or consider not attempting anything with metal. Soldering a Mechanical Keyboard PCB Using Reflow
มุมมอง 21K4 ปีที่แล้ว
In this video, I run through the process of assembling and soldering a mechanical keyboard PCB by hand using reflow. The design includes features currently en vogue in the hobby like hotswap sockets and a JST header. Assembly begins at 4:47 if you don't feel like watching the preparation! Just go buy your PCBs, guys. This took so long. Personal Links Join my Discord server for collaborating on ...

      There aren't any, at least not anymore. I used a step file that was available on DropBox for some time but couldn't find it within the months following this video. Either way, it's just a simple shape, and you should get in the ballpark if you measure out your board. I can check if I still have anything stored in my Fusion360 cloud later.

    would kill to see you start producing these... I have owned one of each of the "stacked" series from CannonKeys since their first release, but ive hoped over time that they would make changes, but the changes never came. For example, for those that like RGB, including an upgraded pcb other than the Savage65, or even new sets of colors as the black fr4 plate kinda makes the clear just end up looking black at most angles

    • @hadi--
      @hadi-- ปีที่แล้ว

      They're kind of a pain to put together if I'm honest, and I haven't figured out a way to perfect the tops. Laser kerf, acrylic width, and spacing are all out of my control, too--finished boards can vary up to 3mm in height (~10% allowance in thickness), impacting both the amount of space in the cavity as well as how proud the caps are of the case's top. I've designed more since this video was produced, but, commercially, they don't make a lot of sense.

      You can just measure the case and draft an outline in any design software. Happy to help but I'm not sure if it's worth a commission.

    This is exactly what I want for the kbd75 v3.1. The acrylic layer for rgb is tacky and frankly poorly done and while kbdfans offered a pvd coated brass weight for the bottom, I have never seen it in stock. Besides that the keyboard is a nice and simple top mount board. I want someone to come along and start making custom weights and plates, I have to imagine they’d get a lot of business, especially for some added custom engravings. Great work how do we commission you for more? Lol

    What's the thickness of your bezels on your board and did it bend/crack at all? I saw kkatano ( the creator of the Bakeneko ) say that he wasn't sure but he would go 10mm to avoid the risk of the acrylic cracking or bending. Thanks.

    • @hadi--
      @hadi-- 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just depends how careful you wanna be. I don't remember what the dimensions were but they're definitely under 10 mm.
