are you sure for the finger board ? it s look like really ebony .
Great guitar, but a ridiculous amount of money for a bedroom guitarist..
Brilliant lesson ❤️
great guitar Mr GL, I do believe on that particular model, Ernie Ball used their own patented HT pickups. A very active hi-out put pick-up as opposed to the L3 which runs to the passive DiMarzio’s… …as a huge fan of SL 80’s & 90’s sounds playing the VA “robot” and others, I much prefer this sound over the L3. Looks like you were enjoying it… which is nice. cheers
hey there Mr GL Nice to hear some solid sounds from the L3. Obviously the passive pick-ups don’t provide the aggression some might be looking for specifically for hard edged rock, but the DiMarzio’s nevertheless sound warm and clean, and respond well to both soft & heavy playing. I see you are running the Fractal AxeFx program on your monitor… …were the sounds you were playing some presets you made? thanks for yet another insight into EBMM
Sorry Dude, Those Are Not Locking Tuners!
Those are definitely locking tuners dude
You're right! Just before doing this video I was playing the L3 which does have locking tuners. These are not, which of course makes sense :)
10:44 i love this chord.
These are hard to find now. Beauty it is.
Can’t find it on YT…
Hmm I can’t find it now either. Perhaps it was removed? I don’t have the original logic session either, sorry.
Nice phrasing! Where did you get the backing track?
I found it on YT.
Sorry, but where i can find gp tab for leads, nice playing btw ...?
Too bad I prefer the wide thin neck profile and don't like neither the gold top nor the tobacco burst. Otherwise I had buyed one in Thomann's cyber sale.
22 frets?
Yep
GREAT! Ok here is the deal. I will buy you a bottle of Bourbon if you reveal your gear. Deal?
Haha! The secret is the micro pitch. I used a Kemper for this which I no longer have. I might do a video on the fractal detailing how to get it.
Thank you for this video. This was driving me crazy on my new JEM and your solution fixed it!
Nice!🤩🙏🏻
One of my faves too..though it was drop d too. Thanks subbed!
Thank you so much! Such a beautiful song!
Hey, does this work on a Lo Pro Edge trem from the mid 90s? It's an RG550 too with the exact same problem!
I’m actually not sure, sorry.
Is the synapse zombie already on youtube (one reason why I don't make videos anymore)
ZZ top is one of those bands who sound easy to play, until you sit down and actually attempt to play it, 50 years of experience really help in this case
Great playing dude! Such an underrated album.
With the toggle in the middle position (both pickups on).. can you turn down the neck pickup without it turning down the bridge pickup as well.......and vice versa ?
Came here to see if people were talking about the ai slop thumbnail hah
Not watching this because of ai thumbnail just here to comment. As an artist I’m sure you understand art theft is wrong. Lost a potential viewer
Just curious, what do you mean by art theft? Do you mean because the AI was possibly trained to generate this? This is a copy of anything it came from a prompt I put into GPT.
Or as an Artist are you against Ai art in general?
Worst thumbnail I’ve ever seen. Jesus Christ, you’re better off drawing a penis in MS paint
Love the solo something about its simple sound is so captivating to me
All writers in a given language use the same words - but it's generally accepted that the better writers (or at least the ones you've heard of) eventually achieve what is known as their "voice". Voice is even distinct from style. So I would say style is style; that's pretty straighforward; tone is more about the gear, and "voice" is the sum of the sounds evoked by the particular player's mannerisms and technique. It's just awkward to say "voice" when referring to musicians 'cause we obviously have vocalists in music as well. Interestingly, I've heard a lot of different people playing EVH, but none of them quite got there - except for Wolfgang. I don't know that many people could pick out his playing from his dad's (at least on VH songs).

As 'tone' and 'sound' aren't really uniformly and clearly defined expressions, discussions will always stay somewhat superficial. I think the statement 'tone/sound is in the hands' expresses the experience that different player sound different on the exact same equipment .... something that every player has experienced who tried to reproduce any great guitar player. - Playing the right notes is easy (requires time/effort) - Getting the right equipment/emulation is also not really difficult (sometimes costly though) - But getting it really sound THE SAME is waaaaaay harder.
Great work Mr GL
Hey there, great Video. Which cab are you using? It sounds amazing
This AI generated miniature was hilarious 🙂
i used to like Chappas, until he did the dirty on EB MM. Went to the factory in CA, had the full tour, he videoed the entire thing, then, they also built him a custom guitar (while he was there) and they gave it to him. A little while later… he starts his own guitar manufacturing, using of course information he obtained fromEB MM he lost me then
Oh I didn’t know that.

The only solid rock track on VH3. If the whole album was like this…
I tried 2 PRS SE DGT. The gold top sounded better than the burst, and it shouldn't have, according to PRS. Later I tried a 2nd burst and it sounded as good as I recall the 1st gold top, so I'd say try a few. The good ones seem to make you sound better than you're used to. So I'm destined to own one after I've tried a few more, just to ensure the mojo holds. I do already sometimes play similar to DG, so I'm already favourable to guitars which produce those sounds. I also like Ian Bairnson and Alan Murphy sounds, and the DGT seems to be good for those too.
Ahh some great comments! Thank you all! Sounds like it really _is_ in the wording. Tone vs Style vs Feel.
Hello Mr GL hmmmm… A very interesting subject matter today :) Whilst I agree with you that every guitarist will play a guitar in their own unique manner, which therefore can, and usually will, have a very direct impact upon how they make notes or chords sounds. But I personally don’t call that sound “the tone of that guitar”. I would refer to that as their individual playing technique; the ability to create moods - loud/soft, delicate/rough, highs/lows, powerful/gentle, dark/bright, happy/sad etc. I believe the Tone itself is a combination of factors, all of which have a direct impact upon any guitars’ natural generic sound. - Primarily it’s the Body shape, the type/s of Timber, and the Pick-ups. - Second to this would be the Neck timber, Fretboard timber, and strings. - Thirdly, tones are created (or changed) via the use of different Cabs and effects. Let’s just look at two highly recognised guitars: the Les Paul, and the Stratocaster. - Body shapes are totally different. - Pickups configurations and types are (usually) different. - Each guitar has its own unique tone or voicing, and neither one will sound like the other. Jimi Hendrix and Mark Knopfler; completely different techniques of playing, and use of equipment etc, and their sounds were worlds apart. However the underlying tone is unmistakably “stratocaster”. On the other hand we have AC/DC. Their sound is instantly recognisable. The shape of the Gibson SG is different again, creating yet another unique sound. And lets not forget the Telecaster… same deal. In summary, I think each player chooses a guitar initially based upon the inherent sound the guitar, how it feels to hold and play, and so on. When satisfied with their selection, they move onto amps/cabs, and finally, experiment introducing various sound effects. In their head they hear a “sound” and its the challenge of finding the right combination to get the results they are seeking. The end result is “their sound, their tone”. Even if i played the exact same guitar, through the same rig, I would not sound identical to owner of the guitar & rig. One would have to study a player for years & years just to get close to playing “in their style”, but that’s as close as you’ll ever get. So rather than attempt to copy, use your personal fav players as inspiration, and just like they did, create your own sound. i hope this makes sense?? cheers Ewan
Nice! Yes that is all true. I guess the video was mainly a rebuttal to what I interpret the saying to mean, which is more that even if you have exactly the same gear...you won't sound the same because "it's all in the hands!".
i do agree 😊
I think sound and tone are two different animals. Sound / style work together and Tone is mostly from equipment.
Your feel is in your hands... tone comes from the equipment
Great video, thanks for uploading. The tone i've always aspired to is that of Adrian Smith, who was / is markedly different to Dennis Stratton, Dave Murray and Janick Gers for instance. No matter how much money i've spent over the years on gear, i've come to the realisation that you are 100% correct !
I ordered mine today for $765 on sale from Sweetwater. Yours sounds phenomenal.
Awesome..tyvm. Just got my first Ibanez in purple. Resembles the Burn, Deep Purple album cover. Original pickups sound great on a Marshall DSL 5CR combo.
Novo. Hipster gone wild. PINE. One of the cheapest, garbage woods one can find at a local hardware. Novo guitars should not be worth more than $1,100.
Don’t tell your house that pine is garbage wood.

Nice one . . I love my ML3 Pro Tradtitional and recently got a ML1 Bariton Modern Rainstorm - all amazing
Beautiful guitars. But they still have yet to answer their phone or answer any question I’ve sent DM on their instagram page. Quite discouraging.
The best and most beautiful Chapman guitar! ... the cons: the headstock logo and that infinite inlay.
I’ve been playing for 37 years. Just bought my first MM this summer. A Sabre Artist series. I haven’t touched my SG since July!
Ever since seeing Paul Davids play one of these, I've wanted one.
Honestly, it’s really great. Pity I only had it for an hour.
