Pulling the hvac box on most vehicles is a bitch, easier to do a motor swap. That labor time is a joke.

Growing up, I used to work on my own cars. Now I pay someone to do that. The vehicles are too complicated and I don't have much free time.

4.3 hrs is the pay. You still have to put in the twelve hours of work. And while you are doing that, your not making any money doing any other job

That's why I never became a mechanic after two weeks of trying. Circa 2002 at $8.50/hour I was staring at $4000 in tools and $2500 in cabinets. Just did not make financial sense.

It's easier if you do it right. Dash removes in one piece then heater box is right there. Don't disassemble the dash ! All modern dashes come out in 1 piece. Think of assembly line. They do NOT build it that way. You need to learn more..

Evap cores SUCK!!!! Ive been lucky with a car Ive owned in the past! But this would be terrible! I remember changing the evaporator or having it changed way way back! But there is no way I could do this now this is nuts. It was underneath the dash behind something farely easy to get to obviously not ideal. but I remember my mechanic saying back then this would be easy for me to change vs having to take out the whole dashboard like on some vehicles and this looks like this sucks! No way Im getting that back together with every bolt back in place......

Imagine having to do it twice when the "new" part is faulty put of the box. Happened to me when replacing the heater core on one of those Tacomas.

Toyota used to be much better.

4.3 will take it apart. If you want it put back together it will cost you.

im doing the timing cover in my taco. dreaded timing cover leak got me. I have 120k miles on it would you recommend doing a new timing chain or leave it alone.

Damn. On my 90’ civic it took me an hour to do the same job. Only have to drop the evap box.

I'm a Kia dealer tech..the wiring harnesses are what killing us right now..main control harnesses, floor harnesses, dash harnesses ..all of them are complete ass to replace and pay garbage
