    Hello, i purchased the Tryally for my Unimat SL after watching your video but can not get the bit to lower enough to be centered. Can you please do a set up video.

    Thank you! Like most hobbies…the Initial investment is just a SMALL down payment…..but totally worth it. Machinists are first principle leaders❤

    Hello Icarus. My name is Alexandre and I'm from Brazil, I know it's been a few years since your video, and my audio isn't helping, could you tell my where you boght it or how I research the set, bit case, machining tools. Thank you very much.

    I just started with my new-to-me Unimat SL, and after this video, I ordered one of these tool posts. The website is a little wonky. (I had problems with AutoFill and had to fill out everything manually for some reason.) However, I got my order placed and paid for, so I am pretty stoked about receiving this QCTP. Thanks for the video and the heads-up. Liked. Subbed.

    sharp edges are not a feature. Those should have been deburred and rounded over.

      Sugiro que você bata um papo com o Luiz Ally. Luizão é fã de Sherline. Nesse preço, capaz do sherline ser mais barato usado. Como disse no video, só peguei o Unimat pq apareceu numa bagatela.

    I was completely mesmerized by this. Thank you so much. I just inherited a very old Ermi Unimat lathe and am thrilled to bits that the elderly, 95 year old man I have cared for now for 5 years did actually know how much I appreciate good tools. For an elderly Dutchman living out his final years in rural France with me, his carer, a British woman with artistic and idiosyncratic interests who moved here after 35 years in California as a restauranteur, to gift me many of his tools in his Will was a lovely surprise. I have much to learn about this one and am hoping I can use it to work on the tiny resin 'planets' I make. I love your enthusiasm.

    This was very helpful information and helped convince me to buy one of the sets for myself. Thanks for taking the time to share.

    nice small tool, BBUUUUUTTTTT sharp edges, where you cut yoursel online, live in the video, it's bullshit. perfect parts you touch, the feel comfortable, the feel perfect, this way of manufacturing is shitty bad, please tell him... what i don't like in this type, you just have one, or two positions. when you need to adjust the tool angle you always have to untighten and retighten the complete holder... my first qctp was done from a private guy, it improved the work so much, but now, with elody, my bigger 14x28" lathe, bernado, 700, i changed to the copy from paulimot of the multifix system... it can repeat within 1 thou, 0,02mm, and within 5 sec. yesterdeay i needed a bit more 'space in the ass' of an insert, so 2 steps of 9°, and it fits, no scew, 7 sec.. look for peter of pewetools i love hate this guy, hes toooo precise for the stuf i do... work save, optimize the tools from loiz, do good work..

      its a mix. unimat.homestead.com/ keep tabs on ebay for new things craigslist Facebook groups lots of youtube and asking around like you are now. biggest resource was Luiz Ally. his channel on you tube, his facebook page and his toolset. He is a Sherline guy but will not hesitate to help someone starting out.

      the manual i got from a ebay seller that sells them all on pdf for about 5 bucks. I learned more by tinkering than with the actual manuals. Just watch lots of youtube

      Ok will do, thanks for watching. TH-cam compressed my video but Im learning. The intent is just to show in depth what this little machine can do from a scale modelling perspective since I had to piece info together before I bought mine. If it helps someone out there make a decision, mission accomplished.

    I have an SL, an Emco 3 and two Sherlines. All good lathes and mills, the Sherlines are better though. Pricing on the Unimats is ridiculous now and you can get parts for the Sherlines right from Sherline. Also you can keep building up Sherlines as much as you like even CNC and ball screws.

    • @Icarus529
      @Icarus529 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching. As I mentioned in the first few minutes the only reason I got the Unimat was for the versatility per dollar ratio. At sherline a lathe and mill would be over a thousand dollars. This Unimat cost around $400.00 For my purposes, it justifies itself. If money were no object, I'd try the Sherline.

    Luiz has been inspiring people interested in machining for years. Website design, ,maybe not so fast ;-) He has always answered any question I posed and still does.

    Luiz is the man when it comes to Sherline. They really need to collaborate with him, since his skills with the machine have to draw customers their way.
