Robert Hardy. I used to think he was all loud and brash as an actor. However having sat through All creatures great and small yesterday, whole series, and watched this and remembering his accurate portrayals of Churchill… what an incredible actor.

The Russian fleet was hopeless. Steaming through the North Sea, to go to fight Japan, they saw a group of English fishing boats, thought they were Japanese warships and opened fire on them.
When Sir Henry Campbell Bannerman was asked about the photograph he said, 'Do you want to know what the King and I were talking about? We were discussing whether halibut is better boiled or baked.'
Victoria was an absolute termagant. She was selfish-- a real dog in in the manger and treated her son and her people horribly. No wonder Prince Albert seemed to have no will to live having to put up with that all the time.

Edward 7th and Alexandra met by arrangement in September 1861 and in December 1861, it was obvious that Alexandra was pregnant and Bertie was furiously confronted by his father Prince Albert who passed away shortly after. The disagreement was masked by suggesting it was a dalliance by Bertie with an actress, to preserve the dignity of both the Royal Families. Alexandra was sent to South Africa where she met the intended foster parents and in June 1862, their son was born, unannounced, baptized with an assumed name and sadly left with the foster parents. Alexandra returned home to become engaged to Bertie and eventually they married, thus legitimising their eldest son, whose descendants have irrefutable DNA evidence of their zero distance between them and the Royal Family members. Irrefutable DNA evidence.
What is not known is that Prince Bertie and Princess Alexandra (of Denmark) had, prior to their marriage, consummated their relationship and by December 1861, her pregnancy was obvious. Kong Christian den niende of Denmark was called the Father in Law of Europe because he succeeded in creating monarchies in Greece, Norway, and marrying his daughters to Queen Victoria's son and the Tsar of Russia. They were quite poor but influential!
Very unlikely that the Danish bonde could understand enough English to converse with his illustrious foreign visitors. Even 100 years later, it was not possible!
Queen Alexandra was a beautiful woman. My great uncle met her at the end of the war, as a young soldier from Australia. She was selling poppies. He said he had no money because their pay had not come through. She gave him one. He said she was beautiful!
Queen Alexandra was a generous lady. She kept a supply of £5 notes to slip in to letters asking for help. But when she received her new bundle of notes she would just put the remainder of the previous batch in a hat box.

Novel that plans for a channel tunnel were being discussed way back in Edward VII's reign? Apparently the idea goes back to the early 1800's. A decade after this serial aired, the project was signed off. I just love the history lessons given in this all the way through.
A sad loss,Timothy West, one of my favorite actors.

RIP to Timothy West. He played many great roles, but Edward VII will be the most memorable one for me.
Thank heavens times have changed. That poor Princes like (hundreds of their time) having to marry old men in duty. This programme shows nothing more than how Hard and how mean was Queen Victoria, who
Queen Victoria and her husband Albert, Hated their son and very much Jealous of his position that he was one day A KING!
They made Queen Victoria look like Max Wall without the black tights. Queen Victoria never looked as hideous as this!
RIP Timothy West - this excellent series displayed him at his best.
RIP Timothy West - a magnificent actor who will be sorely missed.

It almost seems that Edward is the real Prime Minister of Great Britain, and not the other fellows .
So nice of Willy wanting to help out the British win the Boer War .
Wacky hijinks to ensue with the Bertie and Willy Show !
Nice to see Dr Watson doing his part serving King and Country .
did they do a 2nd series for this show?
Victoria with her hair loose reminds me of Morticia Addams.
Helen Ryan is an extraordinarily fine actress.
Lovely to see the great Joyce Carey as Lady Chesterfield.

Despite the King's wish, the coronation dinner was cancelled. As much as was possible was saved but most of it was given to local charities.
If she had kept Bertie busier with work, he may have had less free time and then might have stayed out of trouble and frolicked around less!
the granada international logo at the end was used until 2012
Edward the seventh and the fall of eagles are the two best programs ever

I have finished watching all 13 eps and I must say this was a beautiful series to watch
Poor Margaret as Victor would have said I don’t believe it !
its him breathing while dead for me. Im sorry it's taking me out, this was superb though

Was her last word Bertie?
Victoria? Yes
Watching Charles Dance as Prince Eddy is like watching the soul of Tyrion in young Tywin's body.
Wow! That trip to Egypt aged Bertie 25 years!
Too much sun can do terrible things to delicate northern skin 🤭

No, just NO!
@@zzzbbboooooooh, how dominant of you to suppress the irrefutable DNA evidence of the Royal Family relatives with your own limited opinion 🤔😃🤣
Helen Ryan as Alexandra was absolutely amazing.
Did it look like blood came from her nose?
Dagmar is pronounced Dowmar by the Danes ❤
