Arthur heads operations for the award-winning platform RAMPD (Recording Artists and Music Professionals with Disabilities) where he’s collaborated with the likes of Netflix and the Recording Academy to build inclusive programming. Arthur also manages the career of globally touring recording artist, charting songwriter and cultural activist Lachi-the go-to voice on Disability Culture in the music industry through her work on the GRAMMYs Board and as CEO of RAMPD. Throughout the course of this mission-work, Arthur stepped away from a career in executive recruitment, and opened up publicly about his own neurodiversity. Today Arthur runs a robust diverse team, booking national tours, negotiating major contracts, working everything from creative projects and music releases to development programs from cradle-to-grave.
Arthur speaks on panels and podcasts-at places like the Kennedy Center and the Music Managers Forum-on how embracing one’s neurodivergence is an asset in the music industry. He has also made it his mission to break down the silos and barriers holding back the disability community, laying seeds for a national conversation on Disability Culture and what Inclusion and Universal Accessible Design means at a practical and industrial level. Beyond all of this, Arthur is Lachi’s stylist, and designs her iconic Glam Canes.

Great video and chat with Ely! I have right sided hemi parisis and love camping. I go frontcountry and backcountry. Backcountry is more difficult for me(especially canoeing)! I can go backpacking alone on some trails(Frontenac is one place accessible for me even when alone) and others I definatrly need help with and of course some not even with help. Thanks to youtubers documenting trails they've done, it helps figure out what I may be capable of. Setting up and packing up campsites takes me much longer and tires me out more than the average person. I can resonate with what was discussed and I can also relate to rejection related to having a disability.

What she describes as desiring is actually a natural consequence of inclusion and what she views as "include into what?" (ie into a neurotypical structure/system) is actually integration. "The terms inclusion and integration are often used synonymously, confused or mixed up. Inclusion means creating an environment that allows all people to participate on an equal basis. Integration means affiliation, which entails conformation to the environment."

As it relates to regulations are you we may have to go to the Supreme Court for a reference ruling so that we can get the government actually set a firm timeline for them to come up with a policies and implement implementation guidelines

This government as it stands, should really look at other jurisdictions such as the Netherlands as it relates to how disability benefit is supposed to be dealt with and paid out this government takes no no accountability of the people that actually are trying to better themselves and trying to get jobs, but they are not recognizing the challenges of recognizing either the challenges of finding employment or getting recognition for the education that we already have.

Joeita and Ron thank you for this. 👍🏻✨️ Stars in the wilderness. The challanges don't get easier as timegoes by. It's soul crushing and mind bending how much more burocratic burden is added when all our energy is put into the day to day survival. What direction M.A.I.D. takes in the future also is in the back of the mind.🌟 Why parents might seem to wait a long time is...lack of information and then access. We've gone in circles for 20 years!! It is amazing that social workers, doctors, family accountant etc. have NO CLUE! I've seen in my crystal ball, it will take a team to pick up the job one or two parents poured all the love, energy and extra finances into protecting disabled offspring. Ohhh, it is so complex, sometimes looking to the future, or lack of hope sets in and you just operate in numb silence. There is so much more 'keep trying' ahead. I am seeing it is different from province to province...not even logical...it's a political game. Blessings ✨️

Hello, my name is Ryan Richard Nealon. I’ve had a disability since 1981. I am. I certainly agree with this individual that that we need a national insurance policy strictly for people with disabilities. And we need the ability to hold doctors and medical professionals, responsible for the hardships and the trauma of being born with a disability. I I completely agree that we need a national insurance policy for persons with disabilities which is affordable to obtain and affordable to maintain and it should be prorated from the day. We are born.

A-MAZ-ING!!!! I especially appreciated the opening explanation of how weight-shaming in the service of misogyny was deployed at an almost entirely all-boys school to make her feel unwelcome there as a girl without overtly stating that she was not welcome there because of her gender. Also, just wondering--is Kate Manne a vegan, by any chance? Her comment about body reflexivity also applying to non-human animals indicates to me that she might be.

Not to forget the additional financial costs ppl with disabilities are forced to pay. During the height of covid 19, i have a friend who is disabled. Due to the nature of her disabilities she was vulnerable. She also lives alone, without support system. As a result she depended on receiving EVERYTHING via delivery. Groceries were the worst. We discovered on top of paying and tipping for delivery, often the stores mark up prices of items when purchased online. Ie. Costco Kirkland brand toliet paper is $21.99 in store and $26.99 on line. That is common on 99.9% of items. Unfortunately for my friend, delivery was not a "luxery" but an absolute "necessity"!!! We live in Toronto Ontario.

The $200 was a slap in the face! That won't do anything to bring us up to the poverty line. The government wants us to choose MAID instead of supporting us to live. I worked, I paid taxes into CPP for the disability insurance it's not a handout. Refugees get more per month to survive than I do on disability.

Jefferson Pearcey 2 minutes ago This is a very frustrating conversation to watch. When we hear about the sitting government giving a quarter of a BILLION dollars to contracts that did nothing and then watch this conversation it feels like this country doesn't give a flying hoot about its disabled population. It is not a stretch to see a tent in a park in your future with this egregious lack of attention to the actual realities people with disabilities face. The reality is "out of sight- out of mind" for the population. Depressing, just depressing.

Isn't it fair to say that some of her defenses of large/fat persons are just whitewashing? It's true that fat shaming is bigoted. It's also true that weight preferences in dating or family dynamics, may *not* be bigoted. And, can't we agree that you can't paint all large persons with the same brush? Some people *do* consume too much and live sedentary lifestyles. That is a *fact*. However, there are other persons that have metabolic and or glandular disorders. It's not all about shame, or body positivity. It's about the wolf in sheep's clothing that health issues are causally linked to obesity, and maybe open and shame-free discussions about obesity need to be had. Just because you've lived through a horrible trauma, and it indeed sounds awful, doesn't mean whitewashing the obesity issue is the only possible outcome. People need knowledge about diabetes, CV disease, and benefits of approaching weight loss with patience and well-grounded expectations, good science, and not marketing-driven factoids.
