Today I look at a 1963 Ford Thunderbird Coupe. This is in my opinion the most peak 1960's era car design ever, the interior especially with all of its chrome accents. #ford #luxurycar #thunderbird #luxury #1960s #tbird

id rather have a 3.8 buick than a subie. good choice. some 3.8's had super chargers.
Automatic transmission in that car isn't really an upgrade.
Needs to be saved. Ashamed he won’t sell it.
It’s a 65. We have a 65 442, exact body lines and trim. 😎
Is that a Cutlass Cruiser or a Vista Cruiser? I know they're pretty much the same
Peak late 90's sedan.
That car horn sounds like it’s taking its last breath!
It’s definitely a ‘68 bug. The finger notch on the door for the gas filler is a dead giveaway.
"Patina" = RUST. There's nothing any more romantic about rust than there is about CANCER. Cancer kills people; rust kills cars. QED
That’s going to be a 68 or 69. Both cars were almost identical. Well, if it had a title, and the engine turned ( it doesn’t, no air cleaner) I would give upwards to a grand for this. But, like all beetles for sale, the owners had lost the keys and paperwork because the magic pixies always bring them back…right?….Well, that’s what I’ve been told anyway. So as it sits? It’s parts. Offer them $200 for it. But…( oh stop it….its not worth that…it will cost 5 k to make this a reasonable car) It will cost a lot to make it road worthy, and then …..you will have an anemic tiny car with archaic brakes and suspension that couldn’t get out of its own way.. And will frustrate your dreams trying to chase the reoccurring problems, while you manually adjust the brakes, valves and ignition. Weeeee….what fun. God…I love them.
Genau so einen Käfer hat mein Vater gehabt, und wir sind damit zur Schule gefahren. Als ob das erst gestern gewesen wäre. Das Schlimme war dann einfach nur der Rost.
Not much of a find. Keep looking.
they look good to drive i think
Great!! Another owner that has no clue how much it's gonna cost and all the time it's gonna take to restore it. Just doesn't want it being restored. Would rather it sit and rot. That's pretty selfish.
Being a car designer, that beak was the peak of luxury styling, the others were bland and ugly, which Ford did after...Pontiac had smaller beaks...which still were awesome...
That was still foggy. Id still buff them. But looked way better than before
cool place I like the gravely with snowblower attachment
The car is not a 66, it's a 65. You've misread the vin. It has a 65 front end, 65 body lines 65 tail lights 65 rectangular speedometer, it's a 65. The vin is also wrong on the last digit, all GM's of the era have the last six digits as numbers, never letters.
Another one bites the dust.
Those don't look like original seats or wheels
My mom 2 door 66 Olds grand ma had a white 4 door f85 Olds blue interior be good fix that car up.
I think the bumper sticker says, "Get Turned On by a Union Electrician". It's likely one of the prior owners may have been an electrician. I wonder if this was someone's private garage or a small repair shop. I'm going for someone's home workshop/garage. Looks like it was active in 1981 as the South Dakota inspection sticker on the circuit breaker box looks to have an inspection date of 1981. The VIN gets the win: 3 for Oldsmobile, 3635 for F-85 Deluxe four door wagon, two seat, V8 equipped, 6 for 1966 model year, M for Lansing, MI assembly and the rest is the production sequence. The Lansing, MI plant was the Oldsmobile "home" plant and operated from 1901 to 2006. After it closed, production was shifted to other GM plants in the Lansing area. No tag (under the hood), can't brag, but much can be figured out, no doubt: ST66 for 1966 model year, 3635 for F-85 Deluxe V8 four door two seat wagon, LAN or "M" for Lansing, MI assembly, possible 953 or 993 for Blue interior trim, possible "D" for Lucerne Mist exterior paint, among other codes.
So close...... M was the Marion Indiana plant, L and LA was Lansing but they were only open from 1950-1963 then they closed it was replaced by Orion Michigan which was Code O.
@@TheREALOC1972 Completely incorrect and bad information. The "M" in the VIN of this car is for the Lansing, MI assembly plant. That is the Oldsmobile "home plant" which operated from 1901 to 2006. The Oakland Assembly plant closed in 1963 when the Fremont, CA plant opened up and that plant closed in 1982. Today Tesla assembles vehicles there. The Orion, MI plant (Lake Orion) came onboard much later in 1983. The Marion, IN plant is a stamping plant, not an assembly plant.
Love Thunderbirds. I'm in the school that I wasn't wild about the beak. But I really didn't like them on the 69'/70' Ponti's either. Thanks for the post !
Amazing car, they have her covered and where she isn't rotting from the frame up. But soo many people refuse or don't want to sell old vehicles until they are beyond reasonable repair and then want more than they are worth restored
Because he's an idiot.
Mine made it to 320k with routine maintenance back in the day 👍
UPDATE: I contacted the land owner and he refuses to sell the car for any price.
I have been into old cars for a long, long time. I stopped inquiring if cars I stumble onto are for sale. People either get annoyed because they have been asked to sell it a million times before (my answer to that is usually get it out of public view and that annoyance will stop) and they say not for sale or they will sell it but they want unreasonable money for it. Either way, I eventually realized that tracking owners down to inquire was just a waste of time that can be better spent looking at sources where the cars are for sale, you get a picture or two, and you can move forward from there. Years ago, when times were different and I was younger and had more time and patience, I would stop and ask; sometimes I could at least enjoying a nice conversation with many WWII generations folks who were typically friendly. By the time I decided to stop inquiring, I was dealing with a different generation of people, most of who just seemed annoyed or downright angry to be disturbed.
Is he retarded. Just steal it.
Don't understand why some people just let a car rot away when you know they have no intention to do anything with it. Whole back forties worth sometimes....
Did this once with an AAR Cuda in the garage of an abandoned property. Also another vehicle under a canvas but I couldn't tell what it was from outside. Turns out the owner died and his next of kin lived 1,500 miles away. I called her and her husband got on the phone and let me know that they wanted NOTHING to do with that property and don't call back.
He must be a miserable old Prick.
That is super cool.... should restore it...
I like how it goes from a truck bed in the back end to a fully finished car in the front. I was almost expecting that foldable bench seat station wagons had in the back end for the kids to ride "backward" and ride down the highway, flipping off vehicles coming up on them.
Time to call Junk Yard Digs
They really can be decent cars! Absolutely love my '96 SC2 and would definitely recommend an S-Series.
George is a cool dude
I had a late model Saturn! It was sedan with a stick shift. I also had a mid 80's Mercury Topaz with those goofy shoulder seatbelts. Annoying as hell.
And yes, Saturn's were made entirely of plastic!
1st gen Toronados have to be some of the most beautiful land yachts ever devised by man.
Any idea what that cost new back in the day? I'd love a new one that they've made these past couple of years but they are EXPENSIVE!
MSRP for a 1976 Ford Bronco was $5,078. If I was getting a new Bronco, I would have to get it with the manual transmission.
@@bradyzimmel Much more fun to drive! I’ve had manuals before and loved them.
Ha!!! I currently have a ‘63 vert. And next to it, the jeep. I have had two of them. A ‘60 and ‘63. The one on your vid is a ‘60 or earlier because of the split windshield.
$11K? New? I paid $10K for a 1980 Cougar XR-7!!! I should have walked over to the left over ‘79 town Coupes. Damn!! I know the NEW 1980 prices went through the roof over $20K on the Mark VI models and about $15K Sedans.
Love to own this baby
Did you notice that no fox body mustangs were in this list, wonder why
So many choices! I'm torn between the Corvettes and the Camaro
Do any of the speedometers work in any of these El Dorado’s I see on TH-cam?
Most of my GM cars don't have working speedometers.
This was my dream car as a little boy. Today I prefer the '57 model.
Bought a 88 for 1200 drove it home also😂
A “Bullet”bird. The 61-63 look so sleek and Space Age. Such a huge change from the 58-60 & better than the 64-66. Back in the early 60’s the dashboard and instrument cluster of most cars were fairly simplistic even if they had chrome. But a T-Bird was like sliding into a jet cockpit
1:32 is that real wood dashboard?
I loved my grandmas LeSabre, belonged to my great grandfather first and it was the car I learned to drive in. It drove so well and I miss that car so much, she didn't take care of it so it rotted away.
nice car but your audio sux buffalo nuts
Slot machine style spedometer? I dig it. Everything about that car is very unique. Do you know what years they made the Tornado?
1966-1967 for this body style.
8-track player? These tapes had multiple tracks/programs. That's my best guess. Original add-on accessories are awesome.
The front drivers is locked with the key
