This is the very definition of an echo chamber. The entire panel have already started from the baseline position that climate change is man made, it is an existential threat, and that anything is justified (and indeed is moral) in the service of "fighting" it. Those points alone are hotly contested, and not just by the fossil fuel companies, as is fatuously suggested by the first guest speaker. They then proceed to a discussion which is largely just verbally high-fiving each other and taking ever more sanctimonious positions. They are so siloed that they think that any opposition to their ESG agenda must be coming from grifters or dullards (ie, they cannot entertain that their opponents may have a decent argument, in any respect). Amusingly, multiple speakers concur that the *real* problem is simply the *branding* of ESG, which should be tweaked so it 'lands' better. Again, they are so deep in their own echo chamber that that they can't see how anyone could possibly oppose them, and therefore the issue must be simply be that they haven't fully communicated the wisdom and righteousness of what they're doing, or the size of the 'emergency'. Crazy to watch.

Companies have been going well and going broke trying to boost their ESG score. Corporation should stay away from it and go back to turning profit. The woke trend is coming to an end. This is why companies like Disney has been losing money the last couple of years. ESG is all about social engineering and virtue signaling. Company should stop seeking ESG profit and go back to making the customers happy and giving them what they want. Get woke go broke is a thing.

Western style "free market" will never succeed without slavery in Asia and Africa. ESG is just an attempt to mask that fact. If they really wanna go "WOKE" ESG funds should stop doing business in countries where they do not elect their leaders directly.

ESG can NOT be a competitive investment. Sustainability is a complete CROCK. Your whole premise regarding Global warming as a threat has not proven itself at all. The real threat is global cooling but your straight jacket thinking won't let you flow in any direction except for one. You are abhorrent and disgusting. Your thinking will only lead to disaster.

A valuable 90 minute exchange, from the experiences of a 20 year veteran from ABC media to PEPSICO to a key MacDonald's executive. It is a solid exchange that got me thinking: not bad for a Stern Sustainability Institute that is a new two years old. I now subscribe to their series, so I can keep learning. I was attracted to this first because of Chris Coulter. The new generation of students to this field would do good by reading his book ALL IN. I do not believe only 308 people watched this very important discussion in approximately two months. I am an immigrant from Sudan and I have been working in solving global poverty and inequality for 3 decades, I am a social entrepreneur, inventor with a background of mechanical engineering and have knowledge and experience in eight different fields. I have developed a robust solution to most of the problems under the umbrella of poverty by using only one solution, job creation by imagination. You can find more of my project to solve global poverty by conducting a google search. #iwasborntodothis

Thank you for posting this important event video! I was there and asked a question about letting the public know that hopeful options exist... the importance of marketing the CSR movement (which is largely invisible to the public at large). For those interested in this "public awareness" issue, my question begins at the 59:39 mark.
