I need a Blue Shift 2 with Dr. Rosenberg.
why is everybody so down bad for adrian shepard? hes just a hecu soldier u got to play as. hes not even rlly cool or anything. 😭
Good news. We are not dying. We are going to live forever!
Your "muh mental health" safespace nonsense is incredibly grating and cringe-worthy. God help this generation.
You've motivated me to play steins;gate.
The exact reason why I think HL:A sucks story wise. It pretty much invalidates what happened in the previous games and expects people to just go along with it. I personally haven't play HL:A for many reasons (mostly its too damn expensive, same with the hardware required to run it) but I already know that it shits all over the ending of Ep. 2 and that's a big problem. Like Lucia said, why should I care about future games if they can be re-written in the next one and the consequences can just be rendered unsubstantial. I think the best way to look at ALYX is that its just a one-off in its own separate little universe because it doesn't make a bit of sense when trying to connect it with the main games. Especially that damn ending of Ep.2... Time travel was a terrible idea and Valve really wrote themselves into a box. Marc Laidlaw leaving the company, I think, is the downfall of all the writing for these stories going forward. Lets hope not but it already seems to be the case with ALYX.
For me, the next Half Life game needs to be HL3 and finish up the Borealis plotline. We have waited long enough. That doesn't mean it will be the final Half Life game, it will leave the door open for other games in the Half Life Universe. Imagine a game that takes place on one of the many other Combine controlled worlds.
They’re still a good person, and a good TH-camr. I think they just wasn’t thinking about the future when making that video. Their main motive was the fact that the mod was “too liked” in relative to other mods; overshadowing. However, their proficient knowledge in the Source Engine created too many nitpicks than any influential issues. Not to mention that only 12 hours later they privated the video, made a rant community post, then deleted said community post. It just seemed like they were in a bad mood and weren’t prepared for any actual confrontation.
Thank you for saying it. Especially time travel that's even worse
Whoever you are, if you're reading this, I hope you get the respite and rest you deserve. While I, like a lot of people, think your opinions were unnecessarily nitpicky, you do not deserve to feel like shit for having the 'wrong' opinion. You are 100% in the right and valid to simply not like something and you don't necessarily need a reason for this.
Whats your opinion on the barney mod "lost Squad"?
oof, that things been dead for a good while now
@@shogxn_official yeah its a shame
I'm not a Half-Life expert but I thought it wasn't a multiverse? Didn't the combine come from far out in space after detecting the event at Black Mesa? And side note, I think the idea of a multiverse is ok if done right. The big problem is that its overdone and is often just used to remove stakes and consequences.
Half life : leech Swim around an empty sea with a group of 1k leeches all identical to you and eat anything that isn't a leech Ooor Half life: boid Fly in your flock in the wast and empty nebula 4 hour intro
I think one show that handled a multiverse really well was Fringe. It only focused on two universes, the "main" one and a single alternate universe, the characters from both were very fleshed out and well rounded. Travelling between universes was also very dangerous and never without consequences.
And that's why God only created 3 realities.
i'm pretty sure i discovered your channel through the Raft video, but even if not it's still one of my favourite videos (i rewatch it every so often lol). would be neat if you did more videos like that covering other games - even if they're more akin to the mod reviews rather than "i'm gonna over-analyze this game i've played way too much"
I really love the Raft video, that being said I only made that video because I truly loved Raft, and still do. I don't really have any game that I love to a similar level right now outside of Half-Life. I wish I could make a video like that about more games, and maybe I will in the future!
@@1LuciaLIVE sounds good.
a idea i have is one of Adrian shepard coming back in episode 1 because of gordon being liberated by the vorts, i feel like this idea would be genuinely good and actually make sense
I wish the original Terminator trilogy+Salvation were the only Terminator movies
The half life 2 facts guy
hear me out (on my theory) the advisor lady will be a piece in the puzzle to taking down gman in hl3. Like from what I can assume, her main directive in hla was to hold gman hostage. And guess what we need to do in hl3?? take down gman!!! and guess whos returning for hl3?? advisor shadow lady!!
I love these shorter videops
5:40 dude, hell yeah, i fínd this pretty interesting from what you talking about and i wanna hear more from you (maybe even a tutorial about making mods for the games would be cool XD) so yeah... go for it! 😄👍
What about the half life mod "timeline" it does the multiverse thing very well, there are stakes and everything.
hlx will likely not be a vr game (i prefer it this way, even if i love HLA), but there is rumours about another vr game being developed alongside the next valve headset, the deckard, so there's a change this is the barney spinoff
possible for it to be VR-compatible tho. Source 2 already has VR implementation, wouldnt be too hard to port over from HL:A
As someone whos concepting background lore for their story. I've established the concept that timetravel is technically practical, only backwards, and you are under extreme risk of dying if you do something more than simply observe. Changes to the timeline can occur, but the universe corrects itself after 5-100 years depending on the change. Ultimately timetravel by the time the story starts, is dropped as a useful piece of technology by anyone capable of experimenting with it. Teleportation is ultimately the useful result from the experimentations. Im kinda using terms interchangebly here. Btw this is a TF2 story, and it takes place in an alternate 1980's where technology advanced faster and the landmasses are somewhat different.
Can you make a video about point of view (the hl1 mod) on your main channel?
Doctor Who did time travel good for a short while then they switched up writers who did not care for the already established rules. I remember one episode where the girl tries to save her dad from dying by going back in time but then flying demons trapped them in a building and almost destroyed everything.
The only acceptable Multiverse story is when batman vistited Scooby Doo
Kinda curious as to how you feel about parallel universes when they’re used sparingly. A good example would be doctor who where travel through parallel worlds is impossible without dire consequences, same for messing with timelines. They’re able to tell the story of “what if my dead dad was alive” but still limiting the scope to be more character focused and avoid biting off more than they can chew with the concept. So basically if there’s rules to prevent abuse of time travel or barriers normally locking you off from parallel worlds. Would these concepts seem more enticing to you?
Yeah! With clever enough writing it can work, it simply has to feel like the writers can’t just do whatever they want (in the sense that a character dying for example actually feels permanent)
3:24 The G-Man explicitly said at the end of HLA that something like that would be a "considerably large nudge" given the interests of his employers. So it is very unlikely that the next game will involve him stopping any of this from happening. Also, just let Valve cook. We have no idea whatsoever where the plot is going from here. Don't jump to massive conclusions before we have any idea of what's going on.
One of Half-life main themes is nihilism and how insignificant our efforts truly are in the grand schemes of things, thats literally the canceled epistle 3 ending, i dont personally mind it if it is done right The multiverse is a fascinating concept ruined by Modren media so we look at these poor excuted example and limit our perception of the concept to them but yeah i dont blame anyone for hating on it, its hard to increase the stakes if infinity is present in the concept EDIT: just wanted to point out, likely 99,9% of the multiverse will likely be empty due to lack of any stable laws of physics that can hold it together, interpret it how u like but this should at least give you some perspective
I think it'd be more accurate to say, that Nihilism is the/an antagonist of Half-Life, not the lesson. (hence why, you know, the end of the first game is toppling the aptly named Nihilanth... you're fighting against the uncaring status quo, not accepting or indulging in it) As far as 'Epistle 3' goes, the interpretation of nihilism 'winning' in that case was probably evocative of Marc Laidlaw's own feelings in the matter. (especially because Epistle 3 was written in 'opposites', I'm pretty sure the actual ending would've been more hopeful)
"Entropy Zero 2 is close to a perfect product" 😆🤣
If Valve never releases new HL game with Barney's story continuation there's a mod in development called HL: Biohazard where you play as Barney after EP1
Schizophrenia moment
I don't like multiverses either, because it`s usually a cheap way to retcon whatever the writer want instead of develop and eventually end the story.
i just can't fathom how people will hate on something community made that was released for free and of such high quality i think most players enjoyed and agree Entropy Zero 2 is great, these weird haters have got to be the minority
ive seen the video and played the entire game (entropy zero 2) , the game was mostly great , and i feel the video is nitpicking , and it isnt "constructive critism" ,the gameplay was great and story was okay , maybe if the video was called "my opinion about entropy zero" maybe it wouldnt be so hated.
Daily last upload?! That can’t be. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm. What to you makes a good half life mod? Should it strictly follow a similar game design to the original half lifes game or do you like it when they experiment with newer concepts and ideas?
thanks for the suggestions! :D
A blue shift sequel that takes place in the 7 hour
that would be sick
@@1LuciaLIVEagreed👍💯
I saw this video before it got taken down and I thought it was a lil nit picky and mean spirited- but I didn't know that the guy was suffering like that from those comments. He doesn't deserve that yeah but it was also not a good idea to nit pick a very well loved game and not expect hate and lots of pushback. He should of expected that- guess he didn't expect that much :/
Personally, I disagree. I think most people think of it all wrong, the complaint about "no actual consequences" never made sense to me. Lets say there was a planet somewhere in our own universe that was EXACTLY like our own (albeit a few differences like all its inhabitants have like purple skin) even people very similar to our own exist on the planet, except they are still different people. If someone here dies, we *could* just replace them with their doppelganger from the alien planet but it wouldn't bring back the dead person, they would STILL be dead. This new version isn't the same person no matter how similar they are, they still have their own memories and own family and friends. That's how I think of the multiverse, like separate planets that happened to form the same exact patterns as us. There are only so many different forms things can take after all. Sorry if I didn't explain properly. All in all, I disagree that the multiverse makes for bad stories, I think people simply MISUNDERSTAND the multiverse. I've had thoughts and stories about the multiverse for many many years well before it became popular. I just think it's a neat narrative device. I think it all comes down to a philosophical difference, rather than a story telling difference. The multiverse taps into the part of my brain that thinks about the big picture aspect of life. Like the ideas that God does or doesn't exist. Very very large ideas that people just can't comprehend in a normal fashion. You may choose to believe the introduction of the multiverse makes life and subsequently its actions meaningless, but I don't. if anything, I think it gives life MORE meaning. I might be bias as well, because I have a specifically designed story involving the "multiverse" however it is fairly different as to how people normally think about it. Have you ever heard of the "big crunch" theory?
As I said, I'm fine with a multiverse if it's limited universes. Even millions or trillions or trillion^trillions of universes. Basically, as soon as there are enough universes for there to be clones or almost-clones of people it has to be an infinite one, because otherwise there is no chance that another one of you would exist anywhere. The randomness of the universe just doesn't allow for that to happen in anything other than infinity. Even a googol^googel^googel^googel^googel amount of multiverses wouldn't have a copy of you, let alone 2 or more, not even a similar one with one featuring purple skin or whatever. For it to be considerably similar, it has to be infinite And as soon as infinity exists that means that yes, there will be exact clones, ones with the same friends and same mind and whatever else you mentioned. You would have perfect clones in an infinite multiverse, and not only 1, you would have an infinite amount. It's hard to grasp what infinite means. However, one may add interesting twists to the multiverse, like it being a consious being or whatever, in which only a few "chosen" multiverses exist, decided by whatever consious being has control of the multiverse. There are definitely ways to get multiverses working, but saying "we have an infinite multiverse" is NOT the way. And as soon as time travel is introduced you have the same issue, where you can infinitely timetravel back and forth as needed or tell your past self to time travel for you or whatever and suddenly anything can be done by anyone and the writers can do whatever and say "time travel!" or "multiverse!" which is why I say that both of those ruin stories, but also not saying it is always bad. I still see ways in which Half-Life: Alyx's time travel can be done in an ammicable way (just gotta hope that they do that) Also sure, anything can be done by the writers in say the MCU, with or without a multiverse. There could be a hero with reviving powers or whatever, which is why I usually mostly prefer grounded stories, say Breaking Bad or whatever. If someone dies in Breaking Bad, they stay dead. There is no magic to save them in any way ever, your best hope is that a flashback scene gets included every now and again or that there is a prequel (Better Call Saul) I still enjoy the MCU, I just gotta ignore those thoughts of "nothing that happens really matters" Also "big crunch" sounds familiar but I'm not too sure.
I think multiverses are only bad because none of the popular, mainstream media depictions make any attempt to seriously explore the monumental implications of the concept. They usually: A) don't have a coherent system for how universes work, making the plot feel random and arbitrary. Events start to follow extremely flimsy logic and the writers basically go "this scene is happening because we say so". B) don't put any strong limitations on multiversal travel, letting characters hop around universes as if it was nothing, which makes the whole concept feel trivial and unimpactful. C) don't spend enough screentime humanising and developing characters that aren't from the "main" universe (or doing any interesting world-building for the "parallel" universes in general), making them feel disposable. I can EASILY imagine a story where I become invested in multiple, parallel universe versions of the same characters. In the finale, they could be presented with a choice like "sacrifice one universe to save another", and it would genuinely be an intense moral dilemma, because the audience was given time to grow attached to denizens of BOTH universes.
You should read Muv-Luv. IMO it has probably the best multiversal story out there, utilizing the concept to it's fullest potential and giving very strict limitation multiversal travel, sometimes with dramatic consequences.

Half-Life 3 may not be the last game, but it will most likely be.. sadly...
I saw the original video. Say what you want about his opinions, but he's ABSOLUTELY right that calling Entropy Zero 2 "Half-Life 3" is stupid. Yes, it's a free project and is mostly very high quality (there are some really frustrating segments, like the absolutely awful final boss of E:Z1, though, and don't even try to tell me different. E:Z2 also has a very different writing style to Half-Life proper). But I agree that "overrated" is the wrong word to use here.
I get that the impact of any action feels far more miniscule when there are infinite other worlds which have and have not done that same action but that is only considering the macro-scale, if you think about the human race for example there are millions, if not billions of people who do the same things every day and get different amounts of enjoyment out of it, from this viewpoint there should be no enjoyment one gets out of an experience one believes is unique when it's most likely not. I agree that a lot of writers do abuse the fact that any and all actions can be reversed with little consequence but that's not a fault of the concept itself, it's the fault of writers not having the constraint or skill to use the fact that while, Yes in the grand scheme of things nothing matters but to those who experience those things it means a world of difference. I'm of the belief that the Multi-verse is probably one of the most difficult concepts for writers to juggle as on one hand you have complete freedom to do want you want and tell the stories you feel would be fun for you and your audience but on the other because of that you need to restrain yourself from jumping the shark.
I must agree with you, I didnt watch the video yet, I brought this point to my mates back in 2019 or when ever Endgame happened
I actually really like how the spider-verse movies in particular handle the multiverse because while some stories take the approach of "there's infinite universes so anything you do here doesn't matter cause you didn't do it here", spider-verse says there's an infinite number of universes and each one is important, its not that no choice matters because in some other universe you made a different choice, but that litterally every choice you make might as well be the start of a new reality, making every choice litterally universe levels of importance since every choice could be the beginning of a new universe. Its technically the same model as many multiverses I don't like, but the perspective and morality being different, saying that every universe matters and is important, that because a few are nearly identical doesn't mean that the lives in there become less important, solves this problem for me. Sure the characters if they fail technically could go to another reality, this misses the point of they still lost their own and lives were still lost, real people died and that matters even if some other reality they're still alive. I think there are inherent intrinsic problems with this model of the multiverse, but I still enjoy how spider-verse tries to solve this issue and it ends up elevating the story, I don't think every story could pull it off though.
I agree that the spider verse movies are definitely one of the better ones to do it. The same problems remain though, unless spider verse ever clarifies that they aren’t an infinite multiverse. Even a 99999^99999-universe multiverse would be a lot better than an infinite one
