I am still struggling to fix it. The model is not small, right next to the axes, field if view is 35. I fear that I messed with the looking around or position commands. I can see the model clearly from afar but when I zoom in, it clips half the model

This wouldn't work for me because my model is huge with many, many elements...I started a completely new file and copy and pasted parts I knew weren't corrupt and I think the problem is solved.
