A week after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the Trauma Support Ukraine team started supporting and training psychologists in Ukraine online. These psychologists work daily with children, young people and adults who suffer from trauma-related complaints as a result of the war. Insomnia, stress, anxiety, depression, aggression, despair, suicidal thoughts… and the war continues.
Since March 4, 2022, we have given 67 webinars, reaching 490 psychologists. Now we are looking for financial support to continue these webinars.

After 14 months of webinars to psychologists in Ukraine, we only see greater urgency to continue. Because the war continues, there is a good chance that more and more people will develop PTSD or other trauma-related complaints. The Ukrainian psychologists are always asking how they can best help their clients: how to work with death and loss in war, how to help children who are afraid and who sleep badly, how to deal with aggressiveness or suicidal thoughts of young people, how guide soldiers who have amputated limbs and how can military psychologists working at the front best process their own experiences?
Trauma Support Ukraine is a collaboration between Trauma Company, Safe & Sound and Sounds of Change. These three organizations have many years of experience in supporting professionals in war and (post) conflict areas.
Practical exercises, music and art.
TSU provides, among other things, psycho-education in a very practical way using symbols (according to the Trauma Company method). The participants also receive many practical, physical and cognitive exercises that they can immediately apply with their clients. But also music and art, to contribute non-verbally to stabilization and strengthening resilience. There is room to share stories and experiences, exchange ideas and 'take a breather'. Each webinar, TSU plays live music for the psychologists, which has become a real resource for them.
Do a lot with few resources.
TSU has reached 490 psychologists in the past 14 months. Each of them works with 5 to 100 people. A total of thousands of Ukrainian children, young people and adults have already been reached through these webinars.
