Music As A Metaphor Full Ep 18 - The Darkness of the Music Industry & Owning Your Value DIY Musician
Halleluja, I just love divine synchronicities. I recorded this episode back in July after experiencing bad encounters at a music festival. And openly discussed my cynicism on the Music Industry and how I chose to navigate under the radar to keep my music and integrity pure.
And as I'm listening back to this for the first time since it aired in July, what do you know - P Diddy gets arrested. And the dirty laundry is ALL over the internet.
Watch this short video from twitter if you need to be caught up on that since I don't specially talk about that in this episode.
x.com/Cancelcloco/status/1764774724767469734
But will more on PDiddy in the new episode coming out today at 5pm EST on
www.freeworld.fm
In this episode I speak about how unhealthy and unhappy many "successful" musicians seem to me from my lower levels in the industry. I've chosen to be proud of remaining a working class musician despite the disrespect I get from many people who worship and admire these A gamers of the industry now matter how dark and twisted their message in their music is. And many of these people are Christians.
I do my best to uplift and encourage musicians that are not caught in that disgusting power game that is the mainstream music industry. And I even pray for the dear souls that got caught in that and think there's no way out. Many were drugged when filmed and then blackmailed. Many had good intentions.
I also discuss convoluted business practices even for the little guys putting out music and talk about my own fears and blocks to upgrading my music game. I guess now's the time, maybe people are finally awaking to the spell the music had on them and will seek out pure music that has retained it's power to uplift and inspire them to a healthy and aligned life.
Are you ready David's Army Band? The tides are shifting....
Sincerely,
Lyndol
PS - I am not usually this optimistic but synchronicities help to remind you who is in charge. And I know that victory is assured one way or another.

@@LyndolDescant Yes! I got so caught up in the moment of appreciating the message of your wonderful show that I just couldn't help but post my positive response. In hindsight I realized I wanted to make some adjustments to my youtube account before posting the comment so I removed it. I've now made the changes to my account that I wanted (just removed some old business videos that have nothing to do with my current trajection in life) and I'd like to repost the comment but cant find it! If you have it feel free to share it. In short, your video helped me make some positive changes to the acceptance of myself and my unique relationship with music. Like you, I also have music to share with the world, but I've been withholding sharing mine with the misaligned thought that I somehow needed to wait until my music was "perfect" and "flawless" before I released it. I think I was trying to "compete" with all the talented professionals out there. But you helped me rethink that perspective and realize that the reason I have music is so that I can share it with the world, so I might as well begin that sharing process. In short, I was struggling with BOTH music elitism AND voice dysmorphia. Still might be struggling with both to some degree, but you gave me the words to use to see reality in the world. And that that is a profound gift. Thank you, sister! I'd love to chat with you more about it and perhaps share some of my stuff with you. I really like your music, and would love to be a positive musical influence in the world, just like you are working towards. God bless you, Lyndol.

I've been fortunate in that I could make a lifelong career in the music field. As long as I can remember, I've been fascinated by musical instruments. I would beg and borrow any instrument that I could get my hands on and learn to play something on it. In high school, I picked up an electronics hobby and got a vo tech degree in radio and TV repair. I then got a four year degree in electronics. While at the university, I began to think about what would come next. Two things happened. I heard "Switched on Bach" and encountered the Allen Digital Computer Organ. Thus began a 43 year career designing electronic musical instruments. When covid put me out of work and age put me into a new employment demographic, I decided to retire from the day to day. Now I can pursue music at my leisure. As they always tell you: "It's not work when you love what you're doing." Music is an easy thing to love!
