Rubber Paper Scissors Review! Tic-Tac-Toe Rock-Paper-Scissors?!
Thank you for this fantastic interview! I love Taiki Shinzawa's games (I own Ghosts of Christmas, 9 Lives, Maskmen, Big Top, Charms, Inflation, American Bookshop). There's a few of his older designs I've been looking for but they're really hard to find, such as Cowardly Bat.
I see Innovation. I hit Like And Subcribed lol.
Where can I buy it? Can I buy it online in the US?
Love your channel. Used it to buy many games in Japan. Though perfumery took 3 of us 2 hours lol i admit both are very AP players and analysis everything. At first you think it's going to be a worker placement game but it's more a thinky, brain burning engine builder. 😂 love the game. Keeper.
Hmm so many zodiac board games, i searched it, zodiac rush is the best as i have experience
Great review 👍🏻 What are the dots / markings on the tiles for ?
For colorblind
Other than the take that being impersonal, I wonder if the counterplay possibilities from placing your veggies in certain positions help mitigate that sense of powerlessness in take that games where "someone else just plays a card and you can't do anything about it"
Yeah that kind of randomness-dependent interaction feels like you can only interact if the game randomly allows you. That should've been the player's decision..
The games has 6 little boards, how do I know how many of them am I going to use? Also, in a two player game, is it mandatory to use 4 boards?
You use as many as there are players
@@revimfadli4666 But what about the two-player setup?
I'd thumbs up the cake solution and like that house rules are inherent depending on how you like to play.
This is really cool!
Thumbs up for the cake solution! Its sounds like it could create some really funny explanations 😂
Thank you for this very informative and thoughtful review. How do you feel about the game 1 year on? Has it held up?
U look like “nothing is better than chocolate covered hotdogs” guy lmfao
Cute video. But, beyond that, an informative one. Thanks for sharing!
Great analysis. Enjoyed the video.
Great video! Love the sincerity and quality of the content. Just genuinely helpful. Thanks!!
Thumbs up! 👍
It would be great if you would translate all the cards for us non-Japaense speakers, so that we folks could make paste ups for this game 😇
Funny you mention that! I just did the official English rulebook for them! :)
Hyaenidae is one of the smallest mammal families. It consists of only four subspecies that are distributed throughout the African continent, Central Asia, and India, and not all are particularly aggressive. In fact, other than the spotted African Hyena they tend to be rather cowardly, relying on hunting in large groups, and almost always avoiding attacking when on their own. So, they tend attack in number in order to feel safe and, on many occasions, they will retreat as quickly as possible when they feel under threat. So the theme is understandable - especially as it's an asian game designer probably more used to the striped Hyena which live as far as South Asia.
Thanks for the info! That makes so much sense then!
@@TheBoardGameDojo Oh great - if you could speak to them that would be great. paste ups, even if just digital files to create ourselves would make so much sense.
Bought on amazon jp both the one with the haunted house theme and the one with business theme. both games have English text. thanks for the recommendation and congrats on 1k subs!
Nice list. I have more in common with Eric than with Tsumachan, but both are cool. For Eric: have you played more Splotters? Any that work good with two players?
What are the Left and Right tokens for?
Congrats on hitting 1000 subs! That’s huge! As for the game example, I have to give a thumbs down. I think it might save the cake topper but not the cake, sorry. The game does sound interesting. Could definitely be an add-on to a future order. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you TH-cam for this wonderful video suggestion
I have the Haunted House theme published by Cosaic and it also has English text. That version has gone over really well with the people I've played it with, maybe because it's a little easier to imagine solutions to the situations (?). I like the Board Game Dojo's nuanced review of this game, it's not for everyone, but I think if it sounds like something you would enjoy, give it a try.
Thumbs Up ! Congrats on 1000k
Thumbs up! :)
Congrats on hitting the 1K, love the channel. Not sure about this game though, not giving me the same "I want to play it" vibe as other games such as ITO.
Same for us. I played this game for years as a teacher before I ever thought "huh maybe this game could be played for fun?"
Thumbs up for the game, thumbs down for any leaning cake problem solved WITHOUT sneaking a taste of the icing😇
Oh that was implied ;)
ah! then approved!! (but now I have to go snack something too sweet...)
I don’t think you did a good job because I don’t think you would be close enough so it would work. 😂
Never underestimate my sneakiness!
Hahaha I was gonna say how would you be able to pull that off. Thanks for the upload 🎉 looks fun @@TheBoardGameDojo
I've almost bought this so many times!
Also, congrats on 1k!!!🎉
@@eVanDiesel Thanks so much! Has our review made you decide for sure whether to get it or not?
@TheBoardGameDojo as a future add on maybe! 😁
the hidden team sounds clever in how it allows honest evaluation without team bias.
That's 100% why it's there for sure, good observation!
Love it, but a bit too simple for me - great for new players!
did you see the new Ito Classic version?
Yes we did! I'm sure it'll be good as it's the same basic rules but I'm interested in the slight tweaks it makes. I'll be picking up a copy ASAP
This is an enjoyable video but I was hoping to see the how to play first... and seems like you didn't end up making one? Good video regardless, but I think I prefer your format with them together and I can skip to the part I want, or watch in the order I want. :)
Ooh good call. I think there's actually quite a few things we need to do that we, at one time, said we would do... 😔 This game definitely deserves it! Thanks for watching the video btw 😀
Sounds great! Where can I find this game to import?
REALLY Appreciate all the thought that went into this comparison!! Thank you!!! Really ENJOYED the video and your insightful perspective! Just subscribed 😊
Thank you so much!!
Datto! Looks great. I can’t find it anywhere online. Do you know where I can get hold of it?
Best bet is Surugaya. I think Zen Market is a way to buy from them abroad: www.suruga-ya.jp/product/detail/607555368?tenpo_cd=400475
Thank you so much!
I am SO bad at this type of game, Kermit the Frog would be better at it. It looks like a fun game, but when you're as poor at these games as I am, it's best to just give it a pass. Great video as always there mate, keep 'em coming.
What an amazing game! It's such a shame it's so hard to find, why hasn't one of the big publishers picked this one up? This is going to become my new obsession, track down and find a copy of this gem, and adding it to my collection. Just one little question: if two players play - let's say - their purple die, one to increase the value of a card, the other to change its colour, do they still have to roll off at the end of the round? I got a copy of Nokosu Dice a few weeks ago, and being a sucker for throwing dice, I really love it, but this one looks even more up my street, so the hunt is now officially on. This video has been absolutely fantastic, because you introduced me to a game I was totally unaware of, and I thank you so much for doing so.
Hello! Thank you for watching and I'm glad I got to show you a new and interesting game! This game is actually only for 3-4 players and I can't see it working well with other player counts. Nokosu Dice is a great one! Way to snag a copy!
@@TheBoardGameDojo Thanks for the reply. Yes, I realise it's for three or four players, but I'm still unclear what happens if two of those players play one die each of the same colour, one for value, the other for colour change. Do they have to roll against each other to see who scores the highest, or do you only roll if your played your die to increase the number of the card? I know I'm being a pain, but it's such a good game, I'd really like to know this.
@@Warriorking.1963 Ah I completely misread your question! I guess that's what I get for replying to these things when I'm first waking up lol You always have to roll off! Doesn't matter how you use your die. You just grab a die at the beginning of the round and put it down on the card, the value doesn't mean anything at first. Then, everyone who played a die, whether they are the only one or multiple people did, roll their dies and compare the overall card value.
Hi. Great review! Did you try 2 player without the 8s? I heard that it is a pretty good variant; closest to the 3-4 player game.
I have and enjoyed it!
Hi there! Thanks for the tips! Is there any store you recommend that sells online and ships to the US?
In March we are going to do an update video including answers to that question! But I think many people use buyee or zenmarket to ship from Japan stores or Amazon JP
@@TheBoardGameDojo thank you, pal! I´ve been browsing through Amazon JP, but couldnt find much stuff :(
Why does Rumble Nation remind me of Age of War...renamed perhaps? Must add I appreciate the names in the description for easy reference since the big channels hate doing so for some reason..
Hmm I've never played that one but I'll take a look at it! And thank you, :)
Great video! I really love the look of the duck game but I'm not sure I understand the rules entirely. Even reading the manual on BGG left me with some questions, is it a game y'all might do an entire video on?
Yeah we might be doing a video on it after we are back from our vacation (late March)! It's a good game that makes sense once you get a round under your bill I mean belt
Does anyone know an email or contact for Board Game Dojo?
I heard they can be contacted at boardgamedojopodcast@gmail.com
Congrats you two! Have yall caught wind of the new Ito coming out? Would love to hear your thoughts!
I hadn't until you mentioned it! Sounds like a good place to start for people new to Ito! Although any Ito is good Ito I suppose lol
She's as cute as her artwork☺️
Thank you Eric and Tsumachan. This is quite a heartwarming video and yes, I also vote for Tsumachan to contribute more. A mix of posts would be great. May I share that my wife and I started playing FLOWERPOWER (Kosmos) and TARGI (Kosmos) especially when travelling. More recently we have enjoyed FOX AND THE FOREST DUET (Foxtrot Games) and really enjoyed the co-op aspect. We are currently stuck on SAIL (Allplay) and it’s not an easy co-op game. But we are still trying. I love the way you let each other speak and say what you want to say right to the end - I know some couples have difficulty doing this. And you both bring different reasons for liking certain games. That’s very important indeed (and great to hear too). So……Happy Anniversary and thanks again.
Thank you for the kind words and the recommendations! I do love me some Targi! I haven't played the other ones but will absolutely check them out! We hope to continue bringing our own perspectives while allowing the other one the time and space to share them.
Happy anniversary! Fun video! I especially enjoyed hearing about how you play Wingspan together; it sounds really lovely. Yes to more Tsumachan!
Yay, thank you! I'll let her know :)
