Thank you. She was in Sydney for a week and would sail around the Harbour in the afternoon. It would be a nice way to travel around the World.

@Kirribilli_ships yes it was fabulous, and we had some medical issues also and had to turn around just past the Victorian border and go north to meet a rescue helicopter that winched a rescue crew onto the ship, then winched the sick crew member away to hospital treatment. We were just north of Eden and the helicopter had come from Wollongong, and there was a maritime safety plane circling also. Amazing to see it all happening, and the crew member got to hospital and had surgery. We know nothing more about what happened to them.

@@JodieMiners That must have been amazing to watch. I admire the Helicopter Pilots and crew that the do these rescue flights. Hope the crew member is doing okay. It shows that Cruise Ships and their Officers and crew handle medical emergencys very well.

@@johnnierainey5761I didn't have any notice, she just appeared in front of Kirribilli at 7 pm which was very unusual. She was sailing on her way to Melbourne before turning back to Sydney. I hope everything works out okay for the passenger.

Thank you. Yes I hope everything worked out okay for the passenger. It must have been a stressful few hours. I think the captain and crew involved did an amazing job bringing the ship back to Sydney

Than you. The water salute looked amazing.There was so much activity on the Harbour that day. The ships and boats were sounding their horns in front of Admiralty House as a tribute to the Royal Visit.

Thank you. I can imagine It would be difficult to navigate a large ship with so many small craft around. On Saturday afternoons there are also lots of yacht races happening around Sydney Harbour.

@@Kirribilli_ships Yes - I can imagine that would be difficult. When large cruise ships depart from the port of Southampton, they are designated as "clear channel vessels" and all the other traffic has to stay out of the main shipping channel so as not to be in their way.

I was standing watching it going out was amazed how nothing was interuped by the Cruise linner going out. All the other boats just went in and out as normal.

@@johnmccarthy2407 It was a busy afternoon on the Harbour and as you say the Ferries move around this large ship with no problem. It is impressive to watch how well these large passenger ships and tugs can manoeuvre.

Thanks, the Carnival Luminosa started sailing out of Brisbane last cruise season and it seemed to do well. This was the first time she has sailed on a cruise out of Sydney and back to Sydney.

Thank you. It was an unusual sight seeing two cruise ships arriving together at lunchtime. Both ships didn't depart till 10 pm that evening which affected the passengers departing on the next cruise.

Yes, the harbour is nearly always busy, however when the cruise ships arrive or depart...it can be manic!

Yes passenger ships look very different now. I like her classic looking Navigation Bridge with the open Bridge wing and the forward mast with the Crows Nest lookout.

This was filmed in 2007, she was retired from service the following year. She was a classic looking ship with a long service career

@@Kirribilli_ships I sailed on her half-sister, the Empress of Canada, another beauty.

That's great you sailed on the Empress of Canada. She had a very nice profile with that long Ocean Liner bow. Where did you sail to on the Empress of Canada?

@@Kirribilli_ships She was called the Apollon, sailing under the Direct Cruises banner, by the time we managed to board her. We had three cruises from Greenock and Liverpool, either around the Med, or down to the Azores, Madeira and Canary Islands. (2001/2) I think. As an aside, part of the Direct Cruises offering at that time were sailings on the SS Edinburgh Castle - formerly the Eugenia Costa. - now that was a ship and a half!

Thank you very much. There is something special about the early morning sunlight reflecting on buildings and ships. Its great watching the tugs and the way they manoeuvre there way around large ships.

Thank you. They are both impressive sailing vessels and to see them together on Sydney Harbour looked wonderful.

Thank you. The vessel behind her is the 44 metre Soren Larsen, she was built in Denmark in 1949. The tug did a full water salute a bit earlier further up the Harbour. The Stad Amsterdam looked so beautiful that morning under sail.
