In this video, I'm going to tell you the story of how I spent all of my money on my first offshore boat. It was a crazy decision, but it was also one of the best decisions I ever made. I've always been passionate about boating, and I've always wanted to own an offshore boat. I've always known i'd get one and beyond! I came across a great deal on a used boat. YYYYYYYOOOOO im happy to have you on the journey . There's plenty more to come !
here before tritt
That's what s up ! we got plenty for story to tell stay locked in !!
That boats going to need. Big block
I'm thinking that's what it will get. or i may put twin 4s back in it not sure . but i pulled Twin Volvo AQ 110's out of it . which are about the same combined or slightly less torq and horse than the more modern 6 cylinder and alfa one i currently have. The owner of cigarette one told me kinda the same thing you just said. so hopefully we will splash soon and sort that out . what size big block you thinking? 454? 525?

Boring waist of time, watching this crap
Looking to get into boat's down here in Broward county, how i start .
well depends on what kind of boating or yachting you want to do. i normally start my clients off by asking what would they do with a boat? then i work then through size and purpose to get the perfect boat for their life style. so what would you do if you had a boat. or what do you see yourself doing? you a sand bar guy a off for the weekend sleeping and camping on my boat guy . or the flash in the pan see you once a month guy ? don't worry about the money side of it ill quarter back you through the dollars making since no matter what your budget is...
Why does the boat have a gangsta lean while traveling down the roas😂

I know it's always easier said than done but use the trailer as leverage. Drop tongue down low as possible, block under transom, raise tongue high as possible and prop with a 4x4 a frame under bow flair. Once trailer is gone, get it rigged better. I like the hull and glad you are giving it a shot at a longer life.
@@miketee2444 that was a solid alternative I'll remember that in the future. Perspective is everything with this stuff . I never mind doing it the hard way if it's safer or just plan better. Easy will get you a world of hurt some times

What did you Think of the book cover?
Looks like a nice boat but a lot of work to just get it on the water
JUST TO GET it on THE WATER??? Is there any more worthy a goal? In this life. in this world of ours their are a lot of things to burn our time and resources on. there are a lot of things to focus on ,move to, but nothing so sweet and full filling as a dream. Ill have it. it may not look the way the rest of the world thinks it should look but ill have it . When its all said and done all of you EVERY LAST ONE OF YOU WILL HAVE THE BLUE PRINT TO GET TO DREAMS OF YOUR OWN. Really appreciate you 455. you and everybody else with us. don't let life's inconveniences stop you on your path. That being said your right @slange455 its so much work i'm losing my mind lol lol lol
throw some plywood under the jacks to avoid sinking and the rig can be held in place with 2 sets of keel blocks. fore and aft. then two jacks, one port and one starboard.
good call @stevenblodgett-psv. thanks for the reminder i need to grab some lumber first thing.. this hurricane caused a hard run on lumber in this area.
My man you ate a jalapeno burger from a gas station. That boat is the least of your worries. 😂

Nothing puts in perspective how heavy these boats are for only being 23' like trying to get them in the air by yourself to get off a trailer!

Where u been ??
I love Gel coat. THe trick to a factory mirror finish is to Wet sand From 400 grit to 3000 grit. ITs alot of work. in sanding but it will last a life time if you take care of your boat. Build up your Paint layers. Check for your high low spots as you go. Final step is to get to wet sanding. FYI you can take your gel coat and add silica powder to it. thicken it up into a _Peanut butter texture. use it to fill any chips and holes in gel coat.
YYOOOOOOO!!! THIS GUY WITH THE TIPS!! im literally making a list of supplies to check the shop for and saw this. Thanks! IT'S one thing to know this stuff in theory or to have paid someone to do it . it's totally different to have done it ... What was the hardner used to get the gelcoat to kick?I dont see that in the process. Is this a new product from fgci? Is there wax in that gelcoat?
i had to add the wax but it was simple once i got going i got a rhythm and getting the mixture just right was a breeze . the hardner is called mepk if remember correctly but i don't think its a product name but a chemical compound like peroxide . ill look it up for you and hit you back . but they always put it in a lil squeeze type bottle with every purchase i make . but its the standard for what's used as a hardener. The new filler wasn't fgci. it was an auto motive filler product i was happy with it . it was way easier than i thought it would be to use i can get the name of it and a picture next time i go back . i didn't go to deep in the process because i knew you guys would prob already know a ton about it. its always been the plan to answer your question as best i can. you have access to me so you can always ask .
Methyl Ethyl Ketone Peroxide (MEKP) is the industry standard catalyst and is required with all polyester ... per Googles explanation. lol I hope this helped.
@@TheYachtsman I know what it is... I have over 20 years experience with fiberglass. Im just surprised they pushed you to re-gelcoating the boat with very little prep. Gelcoat can become very brittle if it gets too thick and will crack. Also, if the hull itself has more flex then the gelcoat will allow it will crack as well. Gelcoat thickness when sprayed rolled or brushed must be certain thickness or cannot exceed a certain thickness or it will crack. your best bet was to Awlgrip the hull. Good luck

What a story incredible
RIGHT! Think about How crazy the stories are gonna be when we get this thing in the water and start the next adventures . wait till you see Ep,2& 3 your gonna love it . it's up now !
I thought painting a boat sapposed to be rolled then tipped with a paint brush to make it smooth and shiny ?
It's gel coat not paint. It's not gonna come out smooth and shiny unless is sprayed on and even then it'll still need to be wet sanded and polished
there's always more than one way to skin a cat ! lol The Gel coat process is what you make it . i could have bought a product called Alex seal that self levels but FGCI was presented to me buy the people i buy my supplies from they called FGCI and they all quarter back me through the whole process. . . the roller i used was perfect once i figured it out. il try and post some pictures of the roll pattern it looks just like spray. ive been using their product for a few years its consistent and for my lower skill level i need that lol .

It's deff a lot chew . but i figure all we have to do is just keep knocking off tasks and steps on the list and we will get there. Life just keeps on happing so we might have to make some adjustments here and there but we are "AT IT MY BROTHA!"
Nice. Well said. Start with what you know first and figure the rest out as you go! Inspiring video( I’ve got a 32 fountain fever project and a 27 Excalibur project!)

What year is your formula? To me it looks like a 66 or 67?
she's a 1964.
@@TheYachtsman That's interesting because most of the 64s and 65s have port sided helm. I would have guess yours at a 67. Good luck with the rebuild. If you ever have some questions just ask. I rebuilt a 65 a few years ago.

My uncle has one in Pasadena MD, took it to a place called Red Eyes Dock Bar, on the Eastern Shore, and that was my first time being on a boat where EVERYBODY stops to look. I’ve grown up on the water, so I’ve been on a lot of boats. To me, it’s like pulling up in a super car, the sound of the engine, and the look of the boat, it steals your attention. I hope to see you get yours back on the water. BOL 🙏🏻🇺🇸
That's an awesome story. Nothing like coasting in to the dock or sand bar on something a little less ordinary. The boats of today are starting to look the same lol I find it boring and dull to say the least. I Also love the lines and designs on boat from the past.
My dad hads a boat we had to totally rebuild before we could use it... Hd some of my fondest memories with the old guy on that boat.
That's fantastic! my Dad cheers me on for sure. I bet the first splash on that thing was great . "FLAOTIN MIGHTY FINE"
