hello, I accidently erased base disk from disk utility, cz it was hanging and now it shows a file folder with question mark on it. I dont need the data but I need it to just boot. service says replace the motherboard altogether which will cost Rs. 40K approx. is there any way I can u know, just try like import from Taiwan or something. kindly reply.
You can search up a video online of how to enter in your computer into internet recovery.
Sorry, I kind of jumped through the video since I'm in a hurry atm ( saved it in watch later ) but how do you get these old computers
Yo that's awesome
I have an old Inspiron 600m laptop and it no longer turns on! Trying to get my old files off of the hard drive and have no idea how, and came across your video! Any chance you know how to get files off of this hard drive without repairing the whole laptop?
You can remove the hard drive and buy a external PETA to usb adapter from amazon.
I am so happy I saw your video. I have bios a15? And It turns right to “no bootable devices”. Help please! Thanks so much.
Oh and all I want is the pictures. Could I just buy that adapter?
@@raysgal83 does your computer have a hard drive installed in it? If it does, it likely has either no operating system or the hard drive has a problem
@@yufelix5783thanks for the quick response. I just turned it on and went to setup menu. Primary hard drive: none.
have you tried one of ur known working screen on the phone to verify if its the mobo or just the screen not working
I did try one in the video and it seems like the phone is the problem
Thank you. I replace the battery but it is not recognized as dell. Any workaround or help? Thanks
Does the computer not recognize the battery at all? Was it like this before you changed the battery?
@@yufelix5783 no, i got bios message that it is a fake battery. Then laptop starts and not charging tge battery - i’ve removed abd and use my laptop as deskop power from charger without battery
This machine is the same architect as SGI Tezro (I have that one) and you don't need to use special monitor for it, any monitor with DVI port (and VGA with an adapter) will work. You will need to connect keyboard/mouse for the video to come up, else it will boot into head-less serial console mode and you will getting blinking red light. You also have to wait for a while about 1-2 minutes for it to finish the power-up diagnostic for video to come up. For SGI Fuel, you can use USB keyboard/mouse tho I recommend using PS/2 keyboard/mouse. If you have PC with serial port, you can connect null-modem cable to the 9 pin D-Sub socket on the mainboard, using putty software and set serialport at 38400 8N1 to see the post message.
@@80486DX2 Thanks for the information!
nice video
Trying to learn to fix my own gear - have a leaking barrel battery here too, so seeing an unedited take of the process is very helpful for me. Thanks for sharing!
No problem!
is this process almost always trial and error? or are you just not as familiar with this machine and you're testing/messing around with it. I haven't watched too many of your videso so im not sure if this is a normal process for you or if you always go through a similar process. very interesting video overall though
This computer is new to me, I usually go through some basic trouble shooting with computers that don't POST (Power On Self Test) after multiple attempts.
You just got a new sub from me
Thank you!
Out of all the hard drives how many actually still worked?
I would really love to see a video of you fixing the black Hp laptop sometime
Did you fix any of these laptops?
Yeah, I fixed one up and the black one I’m planning to fix sometime in the future but other other ones are not really worth it
That's really interesting and I hope you upload another video of you fixing the black hp laptop soon because I would love to see that
New subscribeer❤
Thanks!
good video 😂😂😂
Hope you're ok though
I’m fine now, burn wasn’t that bad
That was dangerous man
Yeah, should have been more careful.
Hope you are ok though
good video
i have a problem cuz the startup stops on disk.sys and i cannot do anything
Is is happening after you installed the new bios on the chromebook?
@@yufelix5783 yes and after installing windows 7 on it (uefi to be exact not bios)
@@Nieczytelny_official Maybe it could be a problem with your installation media
@@yufelix5783 no on my main pc the usb install works perfectly and on the chromebook on safe mode it stops at loading disk.sys driver i tried for too long so i just installed tiny 11 on it
the last owner was a moron they could have just taken out the harddrive and destroyed it by itself and then sold the laptop without a harddrive
Yeah, and it's pretty simple to get it out as well.
22:12 that was *hard AF*
Can I ask where you got the new battery? Cuz I’ve been looking and can’t seem to find one. But I have that exact same laptop.
I think you may be able to get one on iFixit or Amazon. Make sure the battery is a good quality one though.
@@yufelix5783 ooh okay thanks! Can I ask what battery you used for the laptop too? Cuz I was looking on Amazon and so overwhelmed lol!
Can I ask which battery you used too? Sorry! I was looking on Amazon and seeing so many numbers and I didn’t know which one to choose.
@@thedollreviewer I just reused the original battery as I was just making a tutorial.
@@yufelix5783 ohh I see! Sorry I was just confused for a sec! Thx anyway I really appreciate it!
Acabo de perder 55 minutos de mi vida 🤬
i got that same keyboard
Hello, I love the video. I have the same Chromebook, and I'm trying to install Windows 7 on it as well. I found a different tutorial to flash the bios chip (if you search MrChrombox) with a script that does everything for you. The problem I have is I chose the UEFI bios, not the Legacy one, and because of that, I can only boot into a GPT partition, thus making my goal of Windows 7 on my Chromebook a lot harder. I have two options, which I'm trying to work on getting it to work. The first one is finding a modern Windows image that supports GPT (I have seen some when you search modern Windows 7 install or Windows with USB 3.0 and NVME support), but whenever I boot into Windows 7 from there, I get driver errors. It keeps on hanging on disk.sys or ahcx64.sys. My second opinion I'm considering is flashing the bios again with SeaBios, which supports legacy booting or booting from an MBR partition scheme, but I have not gotten that to work because I need to complie my own .ROM file to flash. I also noticed in your video you had trouble with flashing those .ROM files you downloaded, and the reason is whenever you flash a bios chip, your file needs to be the exact same size as the total size of your bios chip. The rom file you had was 400kb and you need a 8mb file. Also, if possible, it would help a lot if I could find the original bios ROM so that I can build a custom ROM, but I lost mine a few years back (I deleted it because I thought it was not needed) so im trying to look for that.
Also, because the storage is only 16gb after installing Tiny10 I only have 1.2gb free which gets filled up VERRY fast with temp files. Tiny11 is even worse with storage. But besides that Tiny10 is decent and runs quite well besides the track pad doesn't appear in the drivers along side the speakers. Only Linux OS's recognize the track pad but not the speakers. Kali Linux and a retro emulator OS's where the two only ones that recognized the speakers also. If you have more questions on how I flashed the bios or anything else I would be happy to help.
How did you get it on in the end? I have the same problem as you were it will not turn on even if plugged into a charger
The battery had problems and the laptop wouldn't work with the charger I used. Using the correct charger worked.
Shit happens, I was going to go read a ps3s syscon earlier today because it was giving ylod, and because i used a solid wire on the pads, it lifted and broke off. IT EEEZ WHAT IT EEEZ!
thats awesome dude
Thank you
where do you scorce all of these older computers if you don't mind me asking
I get them at my local transfer station.
perhaps do a little research about "silicon graphics" as they were one of the best in early CGI and that PC you have cost a small fortune back then
Never heard of SGI? do a little googling.
I did in the video
old hardware can by really tricky. I'd reccomend getting yourself another old gpu to drop in or if the mobo has a monitor output it might be worth trying that
just cleaning all the components off could do something no idea
I'll give it a shot once I get the correct components to do it!
this isn't a 'normal' old computer though. The GPU would have to work with MIPS based SGI and Irix OS.
😂😂😂😂 Definitely some fake asian pretending to be Chinese
No speakers
Yeah, I noticed it after a while because there was no sound coming from the laptop.
Thanks for a great tutorial. So many covered the unplugging of the battery. I have just finished the battery replacement in less than 15 minutes.
That's great to hear!
Hey, Felix Do you have a community discord or something?
No, I don't.
oh alright @@yufelix5783
Once the Win 7 is installed, to you have to be on line to run it or can you watch an MP4 video file from a USB flash drive while off line? Thanks for any help.
You can watch an MP4 file from a USB flash drive without an internet connection.
hi men , can u help me with the flashrom lines?
Sorry, but I don't know how to do that either, you can try searching up how to do this.
As I understand, flashrom is only a program that accesses the bios chip. You need to acquire a Proper .ROM file to flash (which I haven't found yet for legacy boot) if you just want a UEFI bios I would recommend searching MrChromeBox and following his website (very easy and simple to understand compared to the Flashrom instructions), but you have to remove the write protect on the chip and the screw before you can flash anything. WARNING. If you do flash the UEFI bios, you can only boot from GPT partitions, meaning your device will only work with Windows 10 and 11 or a Linux OS (I recommend Ubuntu)
broo I hope you doing it more gently next time
Media Center Edition was pretty cool. My folks used to have a VAIO media center PC back in the day, and we used it as a DVR with analog cable. One cool thing it could do was burn DVDs of recorded shows, for backup purposes only obviously lol.
That looks gorgius
windows xp media center looks different then regular windows xp and hopefully you can get the wifi drivers but the hp stuff looks sick -number 1 supporter
Thanks! Although this computer doesn't have built in WIFI I do have a PCI card which I might install later on.
Thanks!
Fire video 🔥🔥🔥🔥 very interesting
cat: hey whaats goiiing on heeeere?
Lol
Will the laptop start up as usual after this? Are there any extra steps needed to get your computer to recognize this battery or anything?
Nope, it should just power on and detect the battery automatically.
Thank you! Could you please explain in more detail how you unplug the old battery from the laptop?
@@norfro Observe how I unplug it in the video and try unplugging it the way I did it.
I posted a comment here, but it may have been filtered out because it contains links, it's a tutorial on how to install windows 10 on that exact chromebook
Im guessing it did. It's probably in the filtered comments section :(
I remember have this keyboard, at home at the time, I even remember the felling of the multimedia key!
