August 26, 1975 "Crash victim file suit survivors against airline a $3 million suit has been filed by survivors of mrs. Coyce Mae seals Olson of Long Beach who died after the crash of a Boeing 727 at Kennedy International Airport in new York june 24. Filed in . District court at Biloxi the suit names As defendants Eastern airlines inc., owner of the plane and Boeing co., its manufacturer. The crash killed 112 persons As the plane approached the Airport for a Landing after a trip from new Orleans. Mrs. Olson is also survived by a six year old son. Filing the local suit is mrs. Grade Earline seals Farmer sister of mrs. Olson and mrs. Louisa. Seals her Mother. Both plaintiffs Are Wiggins residents. The suit alleges Eastern s Pilot of the ill fated flight was guilty of Quot omissions carelessness and Lack of proper the suit claims Boeing was negligent in the Manu facture research design and installations in the plane. It also claims the aircraft should have carried devices for detection of expected and known hazards like lightning and wind shears. Did the Family win the lawsuit?

The NTSB reviewed the cockpit voice recorder and found that the flight crew engaged in unnecessary and "nonpertinent" conversation during the approach phase of the flight, discussing subjects "ranging from politics to used cars." The NTSB concluded that conducting such nonessential chatter can distract pilots from their flying duties during the critical phases of flight, such as instrument approach to landing, and recommended that the Federal Aviation Administration establish rules and educate pilots to focus exclusively on flying tasks while operating at low altitudes.

Aidan Kovach It's very interesting to know that people who witnessed this still remember it so vividly. This terrible crash killed my biological grandfather; he was the pilot who ejected, but his parachute failed. I have heard stories of how he died but it is something different entirely to see actual footage of it happening. I have always imagined what the disaster might have been like, and long thought of what my life would be like had my grandfather survived this crash. I had no idea there was footage of it. Seeing this today really made me think on his life, my life, and life itself. I'm glad people still remember. No matter how tragic the story, part of him will always live on, through not only my family and I but through all those who remember.

I was there also there is a program called ' Lowell Thomas remembers' and it featured a specific year and it shows in 1957 a ctf100 transiting from right to left5 The film qas taken from the back of the crowd and there is the back of a Sergeant holding a small boys hand it is me and my dad.

I joined my local fire dept., located about 40 miles north of Charlotte, just months before this crash. As is normal, I attended a regional fire school and took a class led by the Steele Creek fire chief who was incident commander until the NSTB took over. He said the stewardess you referred to looked like she just stepped out of the ladies room. Miraculously she was uninjured.
