aright imma take your word for it.
SPOILER: don't waste your time. It's all a joke.
Hit em in the wrench with the head hehehaaa
Its Just play in easy '-'
"hit them in the wrench with the head"... lol
Honestly, as long as you play on Normal difficulty, you really don't need to fully understand all the mechanics. Just do whatever feels right. Experiment until you find something that works. On Core Rules and higher you have to understand how things work a little more, but even then, there is plenty of room for mistakes, and there's nothing stopping you from just reloading and trying again if things go wrong. Often times, if a battle is too difficult, all you really need is to chug potions and spell scrolls (doesn't even much matter what they do, unless they're cursed). There are only a select few creatures that can only be killed by a certain type of damage (such as magic).
I mean this is abusing the game to a point where you could just go to shadowkeeper and put your xp at level 9. Saves one hour of your life. I just don’t see the point. Then you go to do Nashkel mines with a level 9 party. Sounds fun.
I feel this guide has quite a bit wrong. Humans the best part is dual classing, which is very important in runs spanning BG1 through Shadows of Amn. It allows you to get some very interesting things such as tier 2 cleric spells such as Draw Upon Holy Might as a fighter. This enables such crazy things as dual wield Grand Mastery alongside 25STR/25DEX/25CON. Shit is absolutely bonkers. Half-Elves the main benefit is resistance to mind affecting spells such as Charm. Very important in all parts of BG1 SOD and BG2. Bards are important because they buff allies while retaining wand capabilities for summons. Scald for example provides all allies an AC bonus of 2. TWO! At level one! Absolutely vital for high difficulty runs, especially Legacy of Bhaal difficulty runs. They also gain access to all wands. Wands are OP in this game because summons scale off difficulty and because wands can be recharged at vendors. IDK man. There's just a lot wrong in this. Even the Paladin mentions. Turn Undead was mentioned but Turn Undead tables for Paladin are at a -2 penalty, where Turn Undead simply does not work on a majority of undead enemies outside of Story Mode. And Cleric is the Healer? Cleric is the buffer/debuffer! Web Greater Malison etcetera. Insect Plague!!!
Some advice for starting a mage/sorcerer : 1.lvl 1 mage spell "sleep" will work on a lot of enemies in bg1 and will make many early fights much easier. 2. Taking a good specialist mage like a necromancer or summoner will allow you to cast more spells early which can be a gamechanger. 3. Taking daggers as specialization will allow you to use both normal and throwing daggers without penalties.
you can also shock trap them if you dont want to waste durability
I'm now down to playing on Easy (1 above story mode) and still struggling to get to lvl 2 on any class I create. The fights are absolutely brutal, even with mostly ranged characters
Humans are the only race that can dual class.. duall class should not be underestimated..
I love this game because it is based on AD&D 2nd edition, imo one of the best if not the best editions of the game
I tried playing it for the first time a few days ago. I died at the combat tutorial in the beggining where the enemies cannot kill you.....
this is one of the worst youtube videos i have ever seen because there is one easy way to make people hate you on the internet and that's clickbaiting someone in what supposed to be a guide for a game . there is a differance between clickbait and a funny meme
Thank you 🥰🥰
Why has no one noticed or talked about the bible and bioshock? Adam and Eve, the Garden of Eden, Babylon etc it's saturated in biblical references!!
It was an obvious part of the rapture's enviroment. Ryan build the city against any kind of religious or political ideology, so bibles and stuff were forbidden. Fontaine was smuggling religious things like crosses and bibles. That's why you get to see these kind of things throughout the game
@@sebastiandiaz6297 op means the actual city itself.
i started playing thief and i just ended up dying XD thanks god its not because of myself only.
Im still salty i wasnt invited
HNNNNNGGGG THE CRINGE!!!!!!!1
I played this a few months back. Got my cheeks clapped in the candle keep
I missed getting my cheeks clapped... Where's that?
@@aquariandawn4750 it's the starting area.
@@erebys21 I'm well aware Candlekeep is the beginning...
Halfling thief, all the way into all the coffers and pockets in thah gaaaameeeh! xD
What shrine is it
Thanks!
Very nice guide. It would probably be nice to also show some RPG dice used in the board games that inspired these games. Many events in this kind of games are determined by dice rolls. Seeing how such a die works in a board game would help one understand why Baldur's Gate is what it is. A typical RPG die has twenty sides with numbers 1 to 20. That is why all the numbers in Baldur's Gate are so low -- because a die can't have too many sides; otherwise it would be a sphere!
Big asshole
Such a well crafted explanation only for us to see a glitched out and nearly dead big daddy
yeah, what I was thinking. How dumb.
Bless you. Bought the games and couldn't play it until I saw your guide. I started to make sense of the game. :)
Witch one is fast AF bouncer
Thanks :)
Im really struggling to learn this game. The spells and controlling mages and trying to figure out how to not let my mage just run into combat and die right away is all just very frustrating. Its a fucking nightmare.
Do you need to take notes? For example, take notes on what your proficiencies are in case you forget? Or can you look these things up in game?
Just bought this for the switch! I've played some casual dnd with friends so the terminology isn't new to me, but this was definitely worth watching to get started.
Trash ass video
I started as a straight thief. How do I pick pocket? I put a lot of points in it.
Hide in shadows then go pick your target.
4:47 the Big Daddy was almost dead and glitched before you started hitting him in the wrench with the head 🤷🏽♂️
I hate when I hit people in the wrench with the head.
@@OfficialJuggaloJesusi personally enjoy it
You don’t even show you doing it. Fucking pointless video
Awesome! Very helpful.
You use find trap a fuckton
Here's a simple, yet time consuming cheat... create character... find stat potions in game, there are many... do not use, just store on character. Save character... start new game... import that character... repeat. When you create your player your going to use, import the old character into a new game with your playable character... hand over all stat potions... save character... start new game... drink potions. Have fun!
Great starting guide. Played this back in the day, and just got it for PS4. One note.. As a looong time DND player I cringed every time you said "THAC-Zero" it's pronounced "THAY-CO" Just my nerd input for the day. Keep up the good work. I think this will really help all the new players that will be discovering these games for the first time.
Yeah no, its zero
Later versions of the monk are better, the AD&D monk is pretty bad.
This is awesome very helpful 👏🏽 thanks just picked it up for switch
I've never been more worried about starting a game in my life. I've owned it for a week, and have just been reading about it. Jesus
I feel the same way. It’s a lot.
@@gamer2101 Just start it on easy for the first play. The game actually helps as you go. Explains characters as you pick them up, etc. Easy is the way to go in the beginning.
have fun ! I did... and still do from time to time, plus pen and paper D&D, of course ;-)
LuvTheSnapper Definitely bro I started on Normal instead of Core and have been having a killer time. Any time you get stuck just explore somewhere else. There was this fight against Mulahey I think was his name and I thought I was underleveled but I drank some potions and repositioned my party in the cave to block off his reinforcements and won! I was like holy shit it’s not all about numbers you really can strategize and overcome! Such a satisfying feeling
LuvTheSnapper Too true. I just bought both the Baldur’s Gate after Laurian studios announce Baldur’s Gate 3. I thought that it would be similar to Divinity Original Sin or Diablo. BUT DAMN I WAS WRONG!
I'm not trying to be a jerk, but I can barely hear you.
Maybe you're a tad Deaf
@@solusvoid4283 Or maybe the audio balance is poor and this is the only video I've come across with the issue in this genre?
I dont even know what I'm doing
Baulder's gate is getting release on PS4 on Oct 15. I've been going through these old videos on BG. Had this 20 years ago but disc 6 out of 9 kept getting worn out. Modern computer are fast enough so decompression of files are hardly noticed and therefore files are smaller. Disc 6 covered the middle of the world so got used a lot. The younger viewers don't have a clue what we had to put up with before the year 2000.
Haha, so true! My mind was blown when a friend of mine bought the dvd re-release of this back in the day.
@@Anticitizen2501 As Mr. Spock once wisely commented, "Animal skins and stone knives" technology.
I miss those days though 😂
Great vid i made a cleric before I watched. I'll stick with it. Also you get extra points for the music at the end its the exit theme from the old incredible hulk show.
I'm still in the tutorial but damn, the thing that's getting me is how freaking fast it is. I thought Imoen and my MC could handle a spider or something alone in a room but then it comes up on screen Imoen died seconds later, holy shit. I'm not sure what qualifies as a turn and whether or not at the moment I should have party AI on and just smash my group in to everything...
mrcheesemunch It’s more fair than you think, there’s just a learning curve. Trust me I know which house you mean in Belegost right? You can do it!
Doesnt 2d4 means that for every attack you roll two dices with four sides so your lowest attack would be 2 (1+1=2) and your highest would be 8 (4+4=8) ??? So lets say you roll 6 (4+2=6) you take the enemies hit-points minus 6 if you are sucessfull? Is this correct?
Lil Claptrap Essentially yes. Your Thac0 goes against their armor to determine if you hit them, then a dice roll will determine how much damage. Your character may have modifiers to increase the damage that comes from magic items, status effects, potions and proficiency with the weapon. If you roll 2d6 with a maximum of twelve, and roll 10, it’ll be 10 plus the damage modifier. So if your modifier is 5, you will have done 15 damage.
dragonflight2488 got it, Thanx m8 🙌
dragonflight2488 when i first played this game i thought it was gonna be like diablo 1... it wasnt Lol
Lil Claptrap Lol. Yup. It’s heavily inspired by D&D, which focuses on party dynamics. The key to victory is a well balanced party. Fighters and classes that can wear heavy armor as your front line, or tanks, spell slingers, thieves and rangers, and the like to focus on damage or buffs and debuffs. And of course a healer.
Lil Claptrap diablo is ARPG, action rpg, BG is Crpg, classic rpg i.e. with pen and paper rules from d&d. diablo is super cool but they are different games. as an heavy magic user in d&d i can safely say that the spells on d&d crpg games (bg 1 and 2 nwn 1 and 2 pathfinder kingmaker) are amazing :p it is a different beast all in all
