Nice job man. I am thinking about replacing the tail light panel. It’s cracked and rusted where the weather seal goes. 71 coupe.
I myself would probably cut out the rust areas and cut up a new panel and graft the pieces in. If these mustangs are like other cars I've been around, changing the panel involves a lot of quarter panel work also. Look into it first.
And keep me posted please.
Nice job!
Why thank you Frank !
Hell Yeah Brother!!! Sounds Crispy!!! Distributor Looks Out Of Place Though!!! Keep Rocking It Out Brother!!!
I wanted to ask ...just how hard is it installing the older smaller bumper on a 74 and what did you use to fabricate them ?
Cool!
Good job, I decided to go EFI with my Maverick. You gave me confidence with doing the 8.8 swap! Glad to see yours moving, my Maverick should be moving very soon!
Good deal. Let me know how the efi swap goes. Thanks for watching
Those are hard plastic push pins that go on each side of the grill that hold it to the fender
Just thought I'd let you know that that hump you were talking about in the floor pan that didn't come with the new floor pan was a home for a catalytic converter if your car was a 75 to 77
That's good info. I didn't even think of that !!
Great video I really enjoyed it! Thank you for taking us along for the ride👍🏼AL
You are welcome. Keep up the good work also ! Love your hot rods !!!
@ Thank you👍🏼AL
What brand engine is that?

looking really good, nice job!
Thanks !
Ok so ...I came across your channel by chance ..I had just finished a 1978 mustang ll cobra build and was mighty proud of myself ...I came across a 74 maverick that I have a chance to purchase .But never owning one I didn't know what I may be getting into ..I'm bored with no project but since watching your vids on the maverick I think I'm gonna buy this 74 and go to town thanks to your videos !!
Fiz td remoção do cofre do meu maverik também 😅na escova de aço Levei uma semana Não é fácil não Mas ficou top
It was a little bit of work doing this. I'm getting ready to do the Mach 1 Mustang real soon also.
Wow, this is in really good shape, bring on the finished product.
I agree. I'm hoping Bev will contact Chip Foose to come and build it for us !!!! LoL
Nice gotta c it in person
Man that is gonna be great. You already got me with the Maverick.. (my first car), now you're doing a Big Pony car... (I'm finishing floorpans in my 73). So glad youre doing this.. it is very educational for a guy like me.
Thanks for watching the builds Andrew ! This one should be a little easier, I'm hoping. LoL
Pretty good shape! And a lot of parts. 👍
I think both cars are sweet! Great video thank you for sharing👍🏼AL
Thank you. You have an awesome fleet yourself ! Very impressive !!
Yep u have a great new project.
Thank you. It was heaven sent for sure.
"I made a Corporate decision" LOL / Looks to be a great new build
Wooohoooo, I have a 73 Grande with 351C
Awesome. Send pics. All feedback greatly appreciated
I will re-adjust the audio that I initially put on this video. And re-upload it.
Love seeing the progress
Thank you. It's getting tougher and tougher because it's all small things now. But I'll get er
That’s a cool looking car! Awesome you didn’t have to pull the tranny! Thank you for sharing and keep us posted👍🏼AL
I had all intentions of puling it out. And your right, so lucky I didn't have to. It would have been the 4th time !!! LoL
Nice buy at the estate sale . 👍
Yes is surely was. My angels were looking down on me for sure. Exactly what I needed !!! At prices you would not believe !!!
Are you planning to lower the ride height? To me it's sitting way to high up especially in the front end
I'm sure I probably will be lowering it. But whatever wheels I decide to run on it will play a big part on the final stance. I am still undecided on which ones.
every Maverick owner is gay
That's a very nice tractor 🚜
Great work Sir.. hi from Texas
Thank you my friend. I'll keep the videos coming!
What kind of distributor do you use
For now, I just did the el cheapo hei. Later, I will do a pertronix style. The hei is too big I can't use my air cleaner, I have to get an oval one for now.
Were the pie cuts necessary in order to get that floor to sit on the subframe? I have a '72 Grabber. I want to use the mustang full side pans instead of the aftermarket patches. I'm guessing you seam welded the slits you cut into the pan, but I am curious if they could sit down without the cutting. I know you used the mustang seat pedestals, and I know you use a bench seat. I must have overlooked the part where you made your own seat brackets. I have gone through your floor and interior videos. I know you made those brackets because the floor sits so low too. I am considering that route, but I am using buckets from a '73 mustang. My choice of seat is different since the '71-'73 mustangs had different seat brackets and floor pan. I bet I could use seat brackets from a first gen mustang on those seats, but I am worried they will sit too low. Did you use the original Maverick seat brackets on your bench seat? Did the seat sit annoyingly low? I have so many questions about the mustang floor and pedestals in the Maverick. My floor is the only rust on my Grabber, and I think I'm going to have a lot of welding with the full side pans or the patches that are available. I think the patches are made from a thin gauge metal, but I haven't received a clear answer on that either. I appreciate any info you can throw my way.
The majority of the work I had to do on my mustang floor pans was my own fault. 1st time doing a maverick ! Some of the pie cuts were necessary, some were just me being lazy and not preparing ahead of time. My floors were GONE.... it was so frustrating because I was trying to save all of the maverick integrity. My brackets were made with 3" channel cut as pedestals. Holes drilled in them. It worked out pretty good. But no where near factory settings.
If I had to do it again, (it all depends how bad my floor was). I would do the full mustang floor pan with the seat mounts and the hump. Why you say ? You have to think about the carpet,,, I used a maverick carpet.....I had to glue it down. Nowhere near a good fit, I chopped it up also. That is something else to think about. I wish you good luck my friend, in any direction you go.
@@rockinrongarage exactly on the carpet fitting the floor. I would do the same thing and match them to each other as well. My floors are bad right at the bottom of the toe pads, both front feet pans, and both rear feet pans. It is originally a bench seat car, and the seat "humps" are in decent shape. There's a fair amount of welding that would need to be done no matter if I used the patch panels. Also, if I used the patch panels, I would still need to weld in the bucket seat mounts that were used on the Maverick floors. This decision is driving me nuts because I could spend the money on the patches and not have any issues with the seats sitting too low. The full length mustang pans are the route that I want to go because I know those are stronger and thicker stamped out steel as opposed to metal sheets that have been bead rolled to match the Maverick floor pattern. Really, the only thing holding me back is the seat height and how I'm going to resolve that problem. I appreciate the info and super quick reply. I like what you have done with your Maverick, and it sounds great! I have grown up around these cars, literally. They are so dang fun to drive.
You know the bad part about.... I just cut up a 72 4 door and the floor pan is solid as hell !!! I wish I had it when I was doing mine. They say it is 10 inches longer behind the front seat....that ain't shit to shrink !!! If you live close to northwest Indiana, I have it on marketplace for 200 measly dollars. LOL it's complete with full rockers attached.
@@rockinrongarage I have a '74 Grabber for parts, but the floor is also gone in it. I'm in Northeast Arkansas. I have been known to make 24 hour trips though. I had to buy the parts car if I wanted the '72 Grabber. The '72 is so damn solid! It had to have sat in a field or yard on flats because that's the only rust on the car. Every single panel, both torque boxes, rockers, quarters, etc are all solid. I will be ready to start working on it soon. Keep up the good work. Yours is well done. Tastefully modified.
"not a big deal, yeah it's a big deal it sucks!" LMAO
LoL
Um trabalho perfeito!
Parabéns, seu trabalho é realmente fantástico!
Thank you friend ! I really appreciate it.
Was that 72 a AC car?
Yes it was. I still have the a/c system out of it. Will ship it. facebook.com/marketplace/item/1234010341064335/?mibextid=dXMIcH
Sounds like u got a great deal. 👍
It was a decent deal. I got a lot of parts I didn't know I needed !
👍
👍
Love them Mavericks! Glad to see you keeping this one alive
Thank you hot rod, I ain't gonna lie, it's been a challenge. LoL
Looks awesome!
Thank you Robert ! It's getting there.
Tha Mighty Maverick... wooooo
Hello, i just saw your review for the HED-88400 headers. I already bought them before i saw your review. I was looking through your channel and couldn't find a video of you showing in great detail how they fit and connected to the exhaust. I have a 77 ford Maverick and figured it was similar enough. I just want to get as much information as possible to try and make life easier.
Thanks for checking out the channel ! I first wrapped mine with a header wrap. When I installed them, one pipe hit the passenger side shock tower, so I dented in 1 tube and tore up my wrap. Then I realized that wasn't enough and did a quick notch on that tower also. Then.....lol, I got them all installed and moved on to other parts of the build. When it came time to install the mufflers and pipes, I realized the header dumps were aimed at the firewall on the pass side. So I removed it again, pie cut it to aim it down. Fixed it. I run the column shift linkage on my c4. I didn't have to pie cut the drivers side header, but I did pie cut the pipe adapter to it to miss the linkage. Other than all of that !!!! It was fine lmao
No to add more to this dilemma, I bought maverick motor mounts off of rockauto. Installed no problem. If you look at my engine,it sits kinda high. I did more research, the mounts they make nowadays are frickin higher than factory maverick v8 mounts. Unbelievable. So I don't know if the factory mounts would've solved the problems I had ! Good luck my friend. After you install them, look at where the dump aims.
Basic stripper maverick sold for 1995. Fob DETROIT. In APRIL 1969.
I can't wait until it's done i know it's going to look good..
I don't know about the looks side, but it will run good !!! Lol.
@rockinrongarage oh I know it's going to look good my friend painted his red and trim it in black it looked good.
I always liked them car's a friend of mine had one I would love to have one now.
They are pretty cool cars. Pretty easy to work on. Once you figure them out.
I have a 1977 Ford maverick, and I have a question: I turn on the motor by key, but when I turn off, still on...
I would check the solenoid by the battery. Or your ignition switch.
@rockinrongarage ok. My maverick is the same yours, but I have 351w motor. If u have a number we can be in touch

Your car is a nice one. Good paintwork !
Mavericks are so cool! Little known fact...The Maverick was designed by American Automotive Stylist, Tom Tjarrda when he worked for Ford-Ghia. He is the same man who designed the Pantera!
They are cool. All you have to do is stare at the shape of them ! The Pantera has a great look also ! Thanks for that tidbit of info !
incredible. maybe the tires are missing alignment
Oh yes they are. Lol. I haven't adjusted anything yet. I was just so excited to move it around.
Congrats on the first drive! What a huge step! 🤘🤘
Thank you. It wasn't much of a drive, but very encouraging.
Looks great! That’s Awesome seeing that car moving under its own power!
