Good video, good reviews. I’d like to recommend a nonfiction book called ‘Dracula; Prince of many faces, his life and times’ by Radu Florescu and Raymond McNally. It’s the true history of 15th century Romanian warlord Vlad Tepes a.k.a. Vlad the Impaler a.k.a. Dracula to find out where and why our favorite character got his namesake. Also a book called ‘Stake’ by Kevin J Anderson that is a modern day mystery where you’re not sure throughout the book whether the main antagonist is actually killing vampires or just a crazy serial killer. It’s a real page-turner and a lot of fun. 🦇🦇🦇
This is AMAZING; Thank you so much for taking the time to share these two book recommendations! I'll look into them for sure.
I'm reading The Mystery of Mistletoe Hall for a Christmas and December read. I found it on Kindle. It's a classic type mystery where a group of people have been invited to an old English manor for Christmas and get snowed in. Of course, the guests begin to be murdered one by one. It takes place in the mid 1920's and one of the guests, a retired police official is investigating what is happening with the assistance of his seventeen year old grandson. The police official also happens to be a wealthy aristocrat (lol) so they have a full staff there preparing Christmas dinner and seeing to everyone's comfort. The brutal cold and blizzard conditions in the story make it very atmospheric as well as cozy. I'm very much enjoying it as it ticks a lot of my boxes.
Thank you so much for sharing this recommendation! I haven't heard of this one but now I'm so eager to check it out. Sounds like something I'd love to read too! 😇
UPDATE: Tonya Harding was the ice skater who had her bodyguard hurt Nancy Kerrigan! The book's description is sounding like the main character is a Tonya Harding type.
I think for prompt 1, I’m going with The Frozen River ❄️
Excellent choice! I really enjoyed that book and I hope you do too, happy reading 📚☃️
Let me know if you're joining the challenge, and share some recommendations you think would be good fits for each prompt!
I didn’t think much about the fact that it’s in 2 parts. I see more pro’s than cons. We’ll be able to get another great experience next year.
I think for me it was was initial shock at not knowing it was two parts, then I started getting concerned because I wondered why they didn't tell us in advance. But I agree, it will be amazing to be immersed in the world again next year! What was your favorite part of the film?
Definitely had no clue it was part 1.
I find it so sketchy they waited until the actual release to mention it was two parts, I didnt like that 🙄
@@bibliolifestyle completely agree!
Yay this is great! 🥳 we all need the tea! 🫖 🫶🏻
❤️❤️❤️
Nothing like an Agatha Christie mystery! I read the Christmas pudding one last Christmas and enjoyed it very much. Thanks for reminding about the Midwinter one as i had forgotten i have that one on audio. i love mysteries this time of year, especially from the British Golden Age of Mystery. Great series!
I'm so glad to hear you loved Christmas Pudding, and yes, Midwinter Murder is such a treat! I love Christie, and I’m so excited to do more videos about her in the new year because, quite frankly, no one does it like her. Also, for your list, if you haven’t already, check out Margery Allingham (The Crime at Black Dudley) Josephine Tey (Brat Farrar) and Dorothy L Sayers (Whose Body?) 😇
On my reading list, there is "The Long Shadow" by Celia Fremlin, also subtitled "Welcome to the Nightmare Christmas holiday". It's my first who-done-it ever and I'm excited to start it (I am currently reading Little Women which I absolutely love)
I haven't read The Long Shadow but please let me know what you think, I looked it up and it seems interesting. So glad to hear you love Little Women too, it's such a special book!
Vintage recipes Yes 👩🏻🍳
They’re the best!
The very first book review… how very cool! Such great gift ideas, thank you! 🫶🏻
The history is so cool, very interesting! 🧐
I’m in a Christmas book kind of mood. Nicholas Sparks is always a good one for a holiday read.
Yes, you're so right! I'm also a fan of Debbie Macomber and Richard Paul Evans.
@ me too.
Love this story. Must read again
Yes please! It’s so good and I feel it’s still so very relevant today! 😇
I’m loving this series! 🫶🏻such a gorgeous edition!
I'm so glad you love it, it's been lots of fun!
Such a great recommendation 🫶🏻
It's a classic for a reason and it never gets old!
@ completely agree 🥰🎄
Prediction video so fun!
Thank you!
Great review so much to look toward to!
Thank you, I’m having so much fun with this theme!
Love a short festive mystery 🥰
And this one is a winner!
Such great 🎁 ideas!
❤️❤️❤️
So comforting, I think everyone needs that reminder to take care of themselves. 🫶🏻
Yes please 👩🏻🍳🕵🏻♀️
Yes love a cozy mystery 🥰
Great suggestions! I love Elizabeth Gaskell's gothic tales. I would highly recommend Lois the Witch. I read it last year. It's really quite a tragic story. I'd like to get into Edith Wharton and the stories you suggested sound very interesting.
Thanks for sharing! Yes, please add Edith Wharton's Ghost Stories to your list. The stories are a great and so are her novels. If you haven't read any of her work, I recommend The House of Mirth, it's brilliant and Ethan Frome for a shorter read.
I have never heard of the 1st and last books. I'm adding them to my TBR. 😊
Yaay, so glad to hear it! And if I may, prioritize Neverwhere, it's so so good, both are great, but it's a favorite 😇
Chill the F out🤣🤣🤣🤣 I love you!
LOL 😂 ❤️
Connie Briscoe has a retelling of Rebecca coming out next year via Harper Collins called Chloe.
Omg thank you so much for letting me know, this is so exciting!
I loved your review just finished the movie and love someone taking in deep comparing it to the book still at good moves and even better video Keep going amazing job ❤❤❤
Thank you so much for your kind words, I appreciate it 😇
This is interesting
You're an excellent reviewer. I read the book as a teenager in the seventies and it was (even to this date, so many years later) the scariest book I've ever read. I recall sleeping with the windows closed and the shades drawn that whole hot summer. It made quite an impression on me. I also watched the late seventies movie. Don't think I'll watch the current one, but I think I'd like to re-read the book.
Hi Anna, thank you so much for your kind words; they mean a lot! I also appreciate you sharing your story about when you first read Salem's Lot. I always recommend re-reading those books that left a lasting impression, especially from our younger years. If you do get around to re-reading Salem's Lot, please report back. I would love nothing more than to hear your experience with it this time around. Happy reading!
I am loving the Bait and Witch series. Thanks for the recommendation!
I'm so glad you're enjoying it, they're such a fun treat!
Someone else mentioned this to me. Father Callahans face was covered with blood around his mouth. Perhaps he was forced to drink Barlows blood and will rise later.
I know in the book he did, and he left the town and we really don't know what happened to him after that. I personally don't remember seeing blood on his face in the movie, instead I got the impression that Barlow killed him and so in the movie version, I felt that death was his final fate as opposed to the book. BUT if there was blood on his face (I'll have to watch again later) then that might mean he's not dead dead, but will, like you say, rise later. Thanks for sharing and pointing this out!
Sounds like a good book! I will get to it!
They're really lots of fun!
@@bibliolifestyle ok Ty for telling me!
Destruction of my favorite book 🤬🤬🤬
I totally get it…when I saw the film was under two hours I was concerned and when watching my fear was realized.
Sounds like a great cozy mystery series to read especially being in Colorado 😊 Thank you for sharing ❤
Absolutely! I always think it extra special when you can read a book that's set in the city or state you live in. Happy reading! 😇🥰
The Secret History is on my favorite book of all times list. I should read it again.
Yes, its definitely worth the reread! 😇
I took a snap and will check it out!
Amazing! Would love to know your thoughts after reading 😇📚
Thank you for doing this video! I tried watching the first ep yday and found it so boring I couldn’t listen, will try to continue watching as I want to know how both Cleo & Tessie died, also how did they make Natalie look so young in the car scene in that screenshot side by side with her past and present 😮
I watched the series live as they were dropping episodes, and after watching episode 1, I had no interest in immediately watching episode 2. But after watching episode 2, I couldn’t wait for the next episode to drop! Yes, I’m always fascinated by the way they can age up and down characters at times; you’ll get to see more younger versions of Natalie and then, in the end, an older version. They did a great job! 😇
Yum-O 😍 My goodness you are going to turn me into a baker 😊
LOL, and there are recipes in the book too!
This cozy mystery series sounds like so much fun to read. I'm not a baker but sometimes I will make a box cake mix with canned frosting 😅 my favorite cake is Carrot cake with cream cheese frosting from a bakery. Thank you so much for sharing all these mystery series 😍💖
Making premade cake mix is still baking, don't let anyone tell you otherwise! I also love carrot cake with cream cheese frosting. Someone mentioned it on Facebook today and now I'm convinced it's a sign of what I should bake next. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks! Going to read Charlotte Isles Is Not a Detective... Seems exactly like the books I like.... Thank you. 😊
I'm so glad you found this one interesting enough to give it a try, happy reading!
Sure! Put it on my TBR ...thank you so much! 👏☺️
You’re most welcome. Happy reading!
Done! And what a lovely T-Shirt! Looks great on you...😁🥰
Thank you so much! 😇
Eating ice cream and reading Matilda to my kids... Thanks for this video! Shall hopefully read them! God bless us all!
Oh how wonderful and thank you so much! 😇
🎉🎉. Sure... will follow up!
Thank you!
Interesting. Going to start this series soon after I complete the remaining 30 pages of my current book. 😊. Thank you for starting this series. 😊
Yaaay, sounds like a plan! I'm having so much fun putting this together and I hope you enjoy following along 😇
Love this
6:42 👌👌👌👌 Cozy.
