There's nothing like a Series Land Rover it's just simply a way of life

there is also a nut on the steering housing, on the driver side behind the dust cover behind the wheel, loosen that nut and then tighten the little on inside it while one person turns the wheel left and right while you doctor it, it will take care of the steering play

free hub on the front will improve the speed, plus did you fit an overdrive?

free hub front wheels will take care of that

My dad had 109 series 3 2.25d, it hit 60 once down a hill, but was capable of towing a double horse box with two horses up a 1 in 4 hill, really impressive 4x4.

My s3 diesel would be flat out at 60, slightest hill on a main road i would have to drop down to 2nd. So fitted 3l v6, 120mph+ :)

Greetings from S.W. Ontario, Canada. You can pull away in 2nd. I had a 1972 Series IIA with the same Fairey OD in the mid 1980's.

Little tip for you, when you're sat at the lights and they turn green slip it into 3rd gear first and then first. It avoids the crunch 🙂

Wow that's clean. So what's the difference in that 4.0 compared to the 4.0 in my 2002 Discovery 2? It looks like a different valve cover or something but is it weigh different I didn't know they what's two different 4L
