I grew up and came out as a black gay man in San Francisco /Oakland Bay Area and I truly miss the black gay bar experience The energy ,love ,music, proud black men well made cocktails , and friendships cannot be found in any white gay bar !!! When I moved to Sacramento ,the only thing close to a black bar ,was a table or two where most of the blacks sat. In Seattle ,Washington ,there aren't any black gay bars and the only thing regarding black gay men were Black gay men's night at one local bar. Now , looking back there was only one Black owned gay bar that I knew of and that was in Oakland ,California .

If you keep seeing racism, you’re making it up! In my fifty plus years, I’ve rarely encountered racism as a black man. Heck, we are way more racist towards whites! Stop talking about racism and it will go way down if not away! This is why the n-word is still alive. We keep using it!

Speak brother! I was invited to a bar for drinks today in Castro and the bar has so many negative reviews that mentioned racist treatment. Sucks this is still going on in 2023.

I’m from Brooklyn and I live in Seattle and I’ve lived in Cleveland and other places and I swear New York is the only place I’ve ever seen a bunch of elderly lesbian couples

The drinks in all the gay bars in the French quarter are the same size per bar and the drinks are all poured using liquor dispensers and have for many years. If someone got more alcohol they ordered a double and paid twice as much. And they fire bartenders for hand pouring. It's considered stealing. Specialty drinks like hand grenades or hurricanes come in special cups that are bigger than say a coke and bourbon from the same bar. The only place you get ripped off is the premade daquiri bars other than drinks being way over priced all over New Orleans, just like parking, hotels rooms, food and everything else.

Kind of shocked this dude worked for the NYT. This is extremely rough. Highlights are blown out. Shaky shooting. Bad framing and no depth of field for the interview. Audio sounds terrible. Amateur editing. And the graphics? Black drop shadow on back text. What is going on here? This is something a freshman college student would put together.

I’m white and I visited the Page Bar and I was welcomed with warmth and smiles. This is a wonderful bar where everyone is appreciated and you don’t get that very often. I hope anyone heading to New Orleans visits this bar, you’ll be happy you did!

Whether it be a One women, woman or even a one woman man you can't be galavanting around with all the girls in town or doing online stuff having side peices or fall backs if you want your relationship to work out. Then when you do find someone who just FITs with you why ruin it with surrounding yourself with low level energy vampires women who will destroy everything you've worked for and leave you lonely
