In this video I go over how our ETF-portfolio performed in December and I also talk about our performance in the past year at the end oft he video. December was a not so great month and we lost alost all oft he profits that we made in November, but regarding our annual results we can’t complain. It is all about the Dividend snowball and we definitely see it progressing in the right direction.

    Hello Sir, I hope you are doing well. I am a personal TH-cam thumbnail designer, and I am passionate about creating engaging, brand-focused thumbnails for your channel. My goal is to design thumbnails that enhance your content and attract more viewers. If you'd like, I can create a sample thumbnail for you to review first. Dear Mr Sabbir, thank you for your mail, but as you can see on my channel I keep things simple and I want to keep it that way. I hate thumbnails that scream click on me and then don't give what they promise. Certainly thumbnails with the creators head on it with a hand in his/her hair, with a surprised face,... I don't like it, so I will do poorly on YT, but that is ok, I have a job that I like. Reaching people is what I want to do, and I'm doing that gradually and I'm building with a good foundation as I have many loyal viewers. So thanks for the proposal, but sorry not necessary.

    I find it difficult to find good growth stock on the six any tips?

    • @jorisinvests
      @jorisinvests หลายเดือนก่อน

      Good question. I also find it hard to find good growth stocks. Those that appear to be growth stocks are in industries that I think are not going to last long (or are cyclical). I have a few favorites, but as always: not financial advise. SoftwareOne (SWON) that is in the software licensing industry as licensing is a hughe bussiness and is getting bigger and bigger and more important. Temenos (TEMN) that is active in the software bussiness for banks and finally Also Holding (ALSN), although their 2 last years were not that great due to several causes, but they seem to finally have things turning around again, who are active in IT/consumer electronics and AI. All have a high PE ratio SWON 79.84, TEMN 32.14 and ALSN 26.54. They are also small companies, so not as robust as LOGN, which I would always buy before those 3, but those are my picks. If you see other stocks on the SIX with ISIN-codes starting with US, those are often Chinese companies (like Shenzhen Senior Technology Material) for those you have to do double your due diligence! There are about 40 on the SIX of such companies as they like the fact that the short for Switzerland is CH and China has the same two first lettres.

    We have family income 7000 per month things are tight to save especially with young family. Most Swiss stock only pay dividend each year making cash flow tricky and but stock outside CH get hit with withholding taxes

    • @jorisinvests
      @jorisinvests หลายเดือนก่อน

      Swizerland has a lot of treaties with other countries around double taxation. Germany and Ireland for instance are good examples, there no tax is withheld from dividends, so we only pay the Swiss withholding tax through declaring in our Swiss taxe return. For the Netherlands, Italy and many other countries you can fill in a form to send in with your tax return, so you can demand the double tax back from that country. It takes a lot of time and if you have a small portfolio it seems silly, but we should all do it. Too many people don't bother and thus it remains like it is. I hope one day the tax department and foreign countries get annoyed and just do the same as Germany and Ireland. Way easier for all parties involved. Thanks for your reply.

    Super congrats for the continued progress! :) Question: if you simply want dividend in CHF, would you pick stocks with good dividend yield (+ some growth) like zurich insurance, novartis, swiss life oder would you rather get an etf like chdvd or the one on spi? At the moment i am picking single stocks, but unsure if I should rather opt for the etf. Because chdvd has only 20 values. I could simply buy that myself and safe the TER of the etf. But with single stocks i have bigger risk of one stock dropping like credit suisse. What are your thoughts regarding this?

    • @jorisinvests
      @jorisinvests 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Very good question. For our daughters, we are saving in CHDVD as this has the better performance of the 2 ETFs you mentioned (CHSPI and CHDVD; I made a couple of video's about those but the last one is this one: th-cam.com/video/VN9WUcFNOKw/w-d-xo.html ). CHDVD is great, but investing in individual stocks is always more exciting, but as you say comes with more risk, in this way I regard the TER of CHDVD as the fee to lower the risk. UBS is also not in this ETF, which is in my eyes a good thing (their dividend is also in USD, which is stupid for a swiss stock. Even Shell and Unilever pay out euro's in Amsterdam and Pounds in London, so why does UBS not do that???). I try to stay away from banks, but ING is maybe an exception in the future. Credit Suisse was really unfortunate, as it was highly undervalued, but the managment screwed up and wasn't able to turn the perception around. Now UBS has to deal with the mess they took over (and they are quick in doing it). In the YUH-portfolio I'm trying to pick up the shares at a good value. I'm a value investor and like individual stocks, but for my daughters the CHDVD is the definitely the best way to go. But it is important to note that when I was young I only had stocks, as I got older I started to lean more towards ETFs and since we live in Switzerland we do the Core Satellite strategy. Now our division is 900 CHF in ETFs and 200 CHF in stocks per month. So the risk from our individual stocks is also lower. I recently started with the Yuh-portfolio to show that investing with only 200 CHF/month can also deliver you with a nice dividend portfolio after a while. Many people think that 200 CHF is too little to begin with, but I want to show that they are wrong :-). Thank you for your question, Joris

    I'm curious why you're investing in FLXD and LDGE. That gives you continental Europe twice in your portfolio. Why not LDGE and additionally a UK dividend ETF? Keep up the good work!

    • @jorisinvests
      @jorisinvests 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The only thing stopping me from investing in a true UK ETF was/is the fact that all of the ETFs on the SIX stock market are providing their dividend in GBP. We already have a low percentage of CHF and then a high percentage of EUR and a rising percentage of USD, so I don't want to add another currency to the mix. With FLXD, I increase my exposure to Europe (which I think we should do as we live in Europe) and also enjoy the benefit of investing in the best dividend companies on the UK stock market :-). Of the 9 UK ETFs that I follow, the 2 I like are VMID (Vanguard FTSE 250) and ISF (iShares FTSE 100) [the HSBC one only gives halfyearly dividends, but has gooed performance as well]. So not the IQQD/IUKD dividend UCITS ETF from iShares or the SPYG/UKDV Dividend Aritocrats one from SPDR, which may be surprising, but I don't like the weight percentages of the stocks in those, which does not fit my needs in the portfolio. Thanks for your question and for subscribing.

      @@jorisinvests Ok, thank you for your explanation, I got it! I invest in LDGE myself and thought that the LGIM UK counterpart IE00BMYDM802 might be worth considering. I find LGIM's Quality Dividend ETF index methodology excellent in general, as it focuses not only on dividend yield but also on dividend growth, which is exceptional. However, the UK-only ETF invests more than 50% in financials. That's significant!

    Also, Interactive Brokers is a qualified Broker that can claim 15% of the US withholding tax directly and you only need to claim back the remaining 15% from the Swiss Tax authorities. With Swissquote you get only 70% of US Dividends and have to claim back all of the 30% that are withheld. Saves you time. Of course, if you stick to Swiss Dividend ETFs or stocks, then that's not relevant. However, given that US Dividend ETFs outperform Swiss Dividend ETFs even after correcting for FX losses on USD/CHF, it's worth a look.

      That initial comment didn't go through. Interactive Brokers is cheaper than Swissquote, was the key message.
