When I saw this guy, I was afraid they were replacing the original big bad take-yo-granny-style wolf we all came to love. But when I learn he was death, I got excited. Aside from Anubis, this is one of the few times Death was portrayed as anything other than human or a skeleton and what they chose for him fits so well, I love it.

Something I find interesting, and sort of a pet theory. A wolf is often used to represent death in media, not sure why but I've seen it done before. So in this universe death takes on a constant form of a wolf, and sickles whilst not a scythe are used for the same task of harvesting. In this case It's to take lives/souls. That being said, puss irritates death so much by mocking him with 9 lives he purposely etched 8 lives into his sickles. Think about that, no one else has ever pissed death off so much he personally took his time to wear, etch or even take on the form of someone/something. Puss alone was deaths kryptonite.

a cool detail that dreamworks added was during the scene as puss and co are escaping jack horners and the villagers are scrambling for the coins, when death appears and does the "i see you" gesture, his eyes are coins, which not only matches the scene, but also his character, as in ancient greece, it was believed that for a soul to cross over the rjver styx, 2 gold drachmas were to he placed on the bodys eyes, so that they could pay the ferry man

Therughout the movie, Death is only ever prominently present when no one else is around puss. Every time Puss is alone, he appears to remind him. Throughout the film he toys with puss always appearing when everyone else is distracted and he can get Puss' undivided attention. When he finally reveals himself when others are near is when you realize that he ia done toying around. He's finally ready to take that last life.

This was a great movie. I wish i saw it in theaters

Yo! About to blow some minds but the knives are in the shape of the dreamworks moon.

Nothing against Wagner Moura's casting, but I constantly wonder about Javier Bardem's voice for the Wolf.

Death came to teach Puss a lesson. The reality is, it wasn’t Puss’s time. If it was, there’d be no fight. It’ll be a straight execution. Puss was throwing his life away all 8 times, Death came to teach him to value his last life properly but one day he will come for him and that time they’d be no escape.

I love how he's also on his ninth glass of milk. Just the small hints are exactly what you get when Death shows up but before you know he's actually Death.

This make sense that Death isn’t the villain or a hero, it was doing its job to take the souls to the afterlife. But he’s the coldest antagonist I EVER SEEN.🥶🥶🥶
