Love Tawny Owls , but the US is deficient in them .
Why do british falconers use imperial measurements to weigh their birds?
I think it's the way we are brought up. From weighing ingredients in cooking to measuring a shed build, imperial is always the way
1:05 Oh yes, Dusty! My pfp now is Wispa
Hope you still will have a presence in the York Museum gardens often!
We are planning on returning this month providing the weather is OK
Good luck with your venture and I hope it all works out for you and your team.
Thank you, that's very kind to say
I have a tawny owl and it emits both female and male calls how can be sure what gender it is
Hope you come to the north east.
Hi, we already do. We have flying shows at Adventure valley near Durham during various dates in the summer
Glad youre thinking about how to make your work more sustainable!
Sounds like you've got an amazing 2025 in store, and a very busy one. Congratulations! Just don't forget to get your break from everything in there along the way!
Hi, I won't forget that, thank you
Love This ❤
Thank you for your comment
Very impressive!
Thank you, it's a real team effort but we are getting somewhere
Wow this all sounds super exciting 😁 congratulations and all the very best with these new ventures! 💕 🦉
Thanks Nicola
I’m from New Zealand. When I’m 13 (I’m 9), I will hunt with swamp harriers.
Your videos are always so inspiring!"
That's very kind of you
Lol bro you're prices have been adjusted for 2030 inflation. 100 plus dollar for some screws?? Maybe yours got loose
Yep, inflation is a real issue these days
Ill email you soon. Would love to be a speaker on the podcast
That's great, thanks
This is such a good video. I'm reading T.H. White's Once and Future King and I wanted more information on "hawking!"
Brillaint. So pleased you've found this video. (Also by the way, the actor is this video, James Swanton, has been in various Hollywood movies, BBC shows and theatre - very talented young man who has helped this video come to life)
My favourite bird in the world
This was a great Advent calendar! Thank you so much to you and your assistants for the tidbits of info and the smiles! Have a lovely Christmas. 🎄
Thank you, Merry Christmas to you too
Merry Christmas to you all, fabulous advent series! 🎄 🌟
Really enjoyed this series. Looked forward to it every morning. Well done guys.
That's great, thank you
A very enjoyable series, thanks for posting. A Merry Christmas to you, your elf and your owls.
Thank you
So a owl can hear your heartbeat when you are working with the owl on your glove?
The Elf showing her owl the stuffed owl in the background is adorable! What a little cutie owl she's got on the glove. Thank you for the information on the rare/endangered owls!
That's great, I've told her that today
These have been really informative and interesting advent snippets! 😀
Thank you, just 2 left!

for a first bird of prey do you suggest a falcon, owl or hawk? This is coming from someone who wouldn't do alot of hunting, just want it for the "fun"
Hi, I would strongly suggest a harris hawk, Bengal eagle owl, Buzzard or barn owl, definitely not a falcon. And do lots of research and find a mentor. I'm glad you've found my channel, I have lots of videos in my playlist 'Falconry advice'.
@owladventuresuk alrighty, thank you soo much and yes I'll check out your Playlist for beginners. I've heard other TH-cam say that owls were good since they are much calmer and easier to predict which absolutely fascinated me. Where I'm from, many people say that the peregrine falcon is the best falcon to train with. I've had a hawk but it was just too hyper for me😅
USA'er here, so I guess i'm contributing to that analytic lol. Athena is beautiful, and seems like such a character. Love seeing the personalities of different raptors/birds of prey! I love the advent calendar owl facts too, even though i knew a few of them (from watching a great horned owl camera) a lot of them I didn't! As a business owner myself, i learned in a very unpleasant way that I need to take time out for myself! Just make your own space once in a while for some self care. As someone who lives in a very rural area, one of our neighbors runs their 4x4 around and makes loud revving noises too. Young people, they think it's cool! lol Merry Christmas and happy new year to you as well!
Hi, thank you for such a wonderful comment. I have been taking a couple of days off in the last couple of weeks and spending time with my loved ones more, it has definitely helped. I can't sit and relax and watch a movie on my own but when I'm with my partner it's so easy and helps me to unwind. There are only so many hours in the day. I'm pleased your enjoying all the content and it did make me smile about you having a noisy neighbour too. Merry Christmas to you.
@@owladventuresuk You're welcome! If you ever do any comparisons between US and UK owls/birds of prey like you were talking about, I'd be curious to know if UK owls also have that one "toe" on their feet that can also switch forwards and backwards to help with balance, gripping, etc. The concept to me is so neat (learned about this in a video on owl feet)
@@spiercephotography Hi, that's a good idea, thank you
Do you have a Snowy Owl ? I think Santa needs a companion.
We don't although I have worked with them before.
“The Eagle ate my homework.”
I'm going to let me kids use that excuse at least once.
Thank you for the best Adventure Calendar, making our run up to. Christmas, please, please can we continue to see Henrietta, missed her so much today, hope she sees many more Christmases.😊
Absolutely love these videos
I love these little facts and snippets. Watch them every morning.
That's great to hear, we are so pleased your'e enjoying them
:)
The way the owl keep looking at the presenter 🥺🥰
Love your questions but the Elf was so funny
All Christmas Elves deserve their time to frolic around the Christmas Tree! 😃
Yur-al-in-seez
Your videos are the best, very educational! But your singing!!!! 😂😂😂
Love these facts. Always watch them before I go to work having breakfast with my barn owl sitting on my shoulder.
That's truly lovely to hear
These daily 'advent' facts are brightening up every winter morning. Love em !
How close to the size of Eagle Owl is the Great Horned Owl and the Snowy Owl, they are a Nobel looking Bird, picture of strength and beauty.
I love all these owl facts! It’s so fun!
It’s funny when Utubers show a owl yawning and a pellet is produced instead . The other thing is a male owl doing his thing , and people don’t understand what it is ..
Yes, I understand what you mean
Can you teach an old owl new tricks? Er ... no.
Yep, that's more or less it.
Hoots
I think owls are brilliantly fit for purpose. It could be their stubbornness, staring off into the distance ( mentally exiting the trainer ) and vision defects up close that makes them seem thick to us . The birds that we can mentally understand are labeled “ smart. “
Yes, that's a great way to put it
Loving your Advent greetings and tidbits of knowledge! A colleague of mine has a snowy owl and says she's quite thick. She even looks it! 😅 But she's beautiful nonetheless. I've got my mum-in-law watching you each morning, and as she's from northern England but lives in Germany, she enjoys listening to you. 😊
That's brilliant, thank you
Wish we had Tawny Owls in the US .
Hope we can get yr book in New Zealand! So interesting hearing these stories 🙂
I'm sure we can. One of my full timers who started a few months ago is from New Zealand, I can ask her about how to go about that.
