LMN-3 Emulator, Github Discussions, and Group Buy Poll
Hey everyone, I just wanted to provide a quick look at the emulator, as well as mention the new Github discussion page and the poll for gauging interest in a group buy for PCBs/cases. Please smash that star button on the github repos if you haven't already :)
Note the emulator and DAW releases in the respective Github repos were compiled for Linux only. If you want to run them on a different OS, you will need to compile it yourself. I make no guarantees it will even work on Mac or Windows, as I dont have access to those operating systems currently (but in theory it should work if you can get MIDI loopback working for the emulator)

LMN 3: An Open-Source DAW-in-a-Box
มุมมอง 255K2 ปีที่แล้ว
The LMN-3 is an open-source synth/sampler/sequencer/DAW-in-a-box. You can find the collection of all LMN-3 repositories here: github.com/FundamentalFrequency Build guide can be found here: github.com/FundamentalFrequency/LMN-3-Build-Guide 00:00 - Introduction 00:31 - General Settings 00:55 - Tracks Screen Overview 01:42 - Plugins Screen Overview 02:06 - Drum Sampler Overview 02:28 - Step Sequen...
I don't understand why the teensy 4.1 AND a raspberry Pi when one OR the other have enough power to process all that features by itself.
Love it! I’m definitely going to be building one of these in the new year
What is happening with this project? Any build vids out there? Any sucessfull builds? NOVICE builders drooling over this....someday this level build.....someday.
Update for 2025? Compete with the Teenage Engineering OP-XY ?
cool stuff
AMAZING!
Legendary
Can you record audio?
Awesome project! Thank you for share it!
this is so dead, and looking at the code it was made for demo purpsoes only..? there isn't much different functionality than showed
this is ralated to the OTTO project?
great video, thanks
A video has a teenage engineering tone. Isit me?
Wahouuuu !!! Work ... Work ... !!!
Was there a LMN 1 & 2?
Can you just build it for me and I buy it?
Just dropping a comment to say I love this~
Lib? Can it use GEN JSON RNBO or Lib
It's pretty cool. I think I'd like to build one. If there were something interesting that could be done with 3 more keys they could go in the empty spaces above B-C and E-F.
This is really impressive. Will look at building one of these, but maybe replacing the note buttons with a mini piano-style keyboard. It'll be slightly bigger, but still portable.
A true work of art!
Great stuff!
Not sure if you're still active. Is it possible to redo the entire GUI? I opened the source files but it seems stuff is missing to edit it completely.
Everything is in the source code. The GUI related code is all in Source/Views: github.com/FundamentalFrequency/LMN-3-DAW/tree/main/Source/Views
If this were a pure MIDI controller, I'd be all in.
Can the lmn daw make any plugin behave like the reverb and such? Like if I install Keyrepeat, would it work?
why the heck are the plus and minus keys in the order they are? typically, in may disciplines, plus represents higher or more or additional, and minus means less or lower or fewer... and our alphabet, numbers, books, etc go from left to right... why on earth break convention?
i can literally hear the lag between when the button is pressed [CLACK!] and when i heard the sound [boosh!]...
Damn. Really wanted this to pop off and become bigger. I wonder if somewhere the community is still active, but it looks like a ghost town rn on the github.
I want one soooooo bad!!!
This looks great! Any way to put the software on say, an X86 CPU laptop instead of an ARM RPi? It would be cool to put this on an old laptop with an Akai pad. Thanks!
The Poor mans OP-1
I’m wondering if the case can be 3D printed rather than cut out of material using a CNC? Great build! Definitely want to build myself one soon.
I just found this and it seems like a good alternative to the OP-1, as well as an opportunity to learn a few things. Is this project still alive? And how much would you estimate the project to cost? Ballpark figure would be fine.
Hey man, Are you actively working on this in anyway? I haven't seen commit activity in long time. I'd like to contribute to the project, I can contribute with PCB, FW, etc. I'd like to get in contact with you! Best,
Is the source from your GitHub a clean plain build without any sound making things? What is it exactly? Is it a transport with a simple gui?
It has some sound making things, like the built in synth and other plugins, but it does not come with any samples. You have to add your own samples
i cant get my board to respond to any of the buttons, any advice sir?
This has been a long slow process to build up to and now it isn't reactive at all when the LMN-3 is launched
There is a discord server linked the main page of the repositories (this page github.com/FundamentalFrequency), it will be easier to help you there. You will need to verify your board is actually sending midi (there are free midi viewers you can find that will do this)
I feel it isn't doing anything and this would be nice to verify, thank you
this is what ultimately every maker dreams of making. topped OP1 a miles away, definitelty checking the repo!! <3
I really needed to see this. Ty for making it dude.
Does anyone know where the less crafty of us can buy a LMN-3 that’s already been completed?
just discovered your amazing LMN3 yesterday...and immediately ordered parts including PCB. Pretty sure the group buy is over...but if it is still on...I would be happy to join in the next order. can't wait to build my LMN3. thanks for the great design and for sharing this with the world.
How do I get one of these?
Did you get any help or did the project die?
did you lubed the switches?
That’s a nice mini screen with sequencer in it
Building one of these currently. mine looks like a piano thanks to a 3d printer. So much fun to build, i got to reacquaint myself with soldering again, have some more fun coding, it is so much fun to build and learn and will definitely support its growth!!
Hardest thing to find for this, the nuts and bolts. lol
I have seen one with piano keys and colored buttons, very nice, gonna print those one for myself :)
It even has an undo button, something a $2k DAW box doesn't have 😂
This is brilliant, but I have a couple of questions: 1. Why does the keyboard start on F instead of C? 2. Will there be a TR-303-style bassline synth included in the future?
LMN > OP 💪🏻
Hi There, just did a small sponsor, I was wondering how it was going and I was suprised this did not get more support and I feel bad that you did not reach the 30 sponsor goal. Maybe the maker community or directly with the coder dojo community this might be nice. I run arucoderdojo and maybe get in touch with MagPi?
What did I just find. I’m extremely impressed. I was looking for reviews on Gear I like to buy, but I’m thinking of helping. Any suggestion of what I should do to help Contribute. What do I need, materials, sources? Great Job.
