Soft Field Takeoffs and Landings: They really aren't that difficult.
My 1958 Cessna 172 POH is vague when it comes to soft field takeoffs and totally ignores soft field landings, but you need to demonstrate the ability to perform them up to standards for your DPE on your check-ride. Here is how I tackle softs in my 172. Ignore the lack of proper "pilot language". i.e. Back Tires = main gear .... you get the picture.

Is there an EASY way to Land an Airplane? Potential Learning Hack Unlocked?
มุมมอง 1.5Kปีที่แล้ว
Of all the things you want to learn how to do when flying.... landing is probably the most important. A 747 pilot mentioned a tool in the comments of a previous video that he taught his students when he was a CFI. He said it helped them to solo on average 3 hours faster, and I wanted to test this "hack" to see if it was correct. He said that if you are solid on speed and glideslope.... it will ...
I bought an Airplane to get my Private Pilots License

When I was looking to get my PPL, I had a serendipitous moment where a guy in my Church Men's group turned to me and asked if I wanted to be a partner in his 1958 Cessna 172. I thought about it for 1.7 seconds and said yes. In this video, I break down if it really saved me any money by buying vs renting. Also.... check out the landing at F69 at the very end..... kinda happy with that one consid...
Tips That Helped Me Pass My Checkride
มุมมอง 16Kปีที่แล้ว
While flying from Sherman (KSWI) back to my home airport (F69) after meeting a buddy for lunch, I was remembering how much prep I put into passing my checkride and how smoothly it ended up going. Most student pilots are nervous about passing their checkride, but the reality is that your DPE is there to make sure you can fly to the minimum standards and is NOT looking to fail you.. so you can re...
50 Hours to get my Private Pilots License
มุมมอง 5Kปีที่แล้ว
I took a quick flight from Airpark Dallas F69 up to Sherman Muni to meet a buddy and get some lunch. Along the way, I decided to go over how long it took me to go from 0 hours to pass my check-ride. It took me 50 hours.... but injuries, plane repairs and a lack of DPEs stretched that over 11 months.
Flying around north DFW with an Insta360 x2: F69 - T31 - F69
มุมมอง 280ปีที่แล้ว
F69 Airpark Dallas. This is the airport I learned how to fly out of, and actually ended up soloing there. The runway is sorta narrow, especially for a new student pilot, used to be bumpy as hell, has buildings at both approaches making for fun updrafts and crazy winds, and it’s under the approach end of the Class D of Addison AND the DFW Bravo so there are planes zipping around all over the pla...
