What’s your height and weight
5’9” / 170lbs
Great info, thanks for the vid!
Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment. I’ll be honest, I’ve been busy over on the other GREYWOLF channels for a few reasons, not the least of which the snow conditions in my area last year were terrible, but I am looking forward to making a bunch of videos this winter.
Thanks for the review! I'm 6' 165lbs, skinny/lanky runner build but have a weird 76" armspan. Almost EVERY jacket ends up being too bulky and unflattering to my form and the length is always too short, especially arms. I've been hunting for a "Medium-long-slim" size forever...would this fit that category?
Oh gosh, my first thought was to defer you to Arc’teryx for sizing advise but reading your question a few times and I think you might be onto something. My knee-jerk reaction to your height is to suggest a ‘large’ but that would be far too wide around your body. My only concern with a medium though would be the arms being too short to move comfortably or riding-up during normal operation. Beyond those thoughts, my suggestion would be to purchase both and return the one which doesn’t fit. Arc’teryx has a great return policy if you’re located in a country where they ship to.
@@GREYWOLFski Thanks! Yeah I hope to find a place that carries the Sabre in store so I can really try them on myself to know for sure. Appreciate the input though, sounds like this or the Norrona Lofoten shells are about as good as it gets for skiing/boarding.
Thanks. Seems like great value for money for the weight. Is the handle made of metal?
Hey, thanks for taking the time to comment. The shaft is aluminum and handle itself is made from plastic as to prevent your hands from getting cold during operation.
@@GREYWOLFski thank you. Do you think it's strong enough to dig snow for a spot for the tent etc ... That it won't break.
100%.
Thinking about buying both of these in black like you have in this video, my only question is if they are the same shade black
Hey, the Sabre jacket and pants are 100% the same colour. I should note, I think there was a time when it was available in a black soft-touch face fabric as well as the standard black you see in this video. But yes, they are the same and I 100% recommend this jacket and pant combo.
@@GREYWOLFski Appreciate the response on this! I thought this video was very informative, great work! I contacted arcteryx with the same question but still waiting on a response on their end, luckily I happened to find this video and just by eyeballing them, they looked the same. I’m hoping that still applies to what they gave this year!
Hey, no problem at all. I do plan to make some dedicated ski content including more info on this jacket and pants, but last year was scary snow conditions and this year hasn’t been much snow at all. However, it is my intent.
@@GREYWOLFski The rain was brutal few weeks ago but most resorts where I’m from are getting dumped on again finally (East coast), I know out west is getting blessed as well rn
Nice choice of skis!
Hey, thank you! I really like Moment products and I liked the idea of the triple-camber twin rocker profile if I was touring and encountered wind or sun crust but the wider profile would mean I wasn’t going to sacrifice too much in the way of float and fun compared to the Wildcat Tour (having previously owned full reverse camber powder skis as well as Moment Vice skis with Mustache rocker, I anticipate the Wildcat Tours to be more fun at the expensive of edge stability in variable conditions but would likely be more fun in pure pow). With all that said, I’ve been keeping my eye on the Deathwish Tour 104 for more technical or longer days. In any sense, I’ve been focusing on the other GREYWOLF channels but I plan to upload some ski content this winter for sure.
@@GREYWOLFski Right on! I became a big fan of Moment last season when I got the deathwish. Found my way to your video because I'm cutting my skins for my new wildcat tour. Thanks for the video.
Oh that’s wicked! I’m honestly glad you were able to find the video. It was originally posted on what is now the GREYWOLF Bike channel with ~5,000 views along with other non-bike related content but when I re-uploaded the videos to their own respective channels to help avoid confusion, the TH-cam algorithm basically buried it. I hope you found it helpful because the legends at Ski Uphill really rescued me. Lol. Out of curiosity, what factors did you consider when deciding on the Wildcat Tour especially being a Deathwish owner?
It was my second search for a skin video of the week, I was actually looking for the video I watched earlier but didn't see it. Your video was near the top so I gave it a try. I just loved the deathwish so much I knew I wanted to try another pair of their skis. Also had a pro deal set up from last season and they let me use it for everything. Skis, bindings and skins. We'll see. Also strongly considered 4frnt Renegade, they didn't have the atk bindings I wanted tho.
I'm not a pro, just work at a ski area. In the winters here in Washington state.
great video quality, first good video i've seen on this shovel, good stuff. 👍
Hey, thanks for taking the time to comment and your kind words. To be honest, I’m a consumer at the end of the day too. I’m also pretty passionate about good product design because it really can make a difference how our experiences go. So my approach is, if I feel I can contribute something to the conversation about a product I’ll make a video on it. With that said, my primary focus these days is the GREYWOLF Bike channel but I do intend to make a bunch of ski content this winter too. :)
Thanks for the great review!
Hi, my apologies for the slow response but thank you for taking the time to comment and the kind words. :)
Excellent info. Thanks!
Hi, my apologies for such a slow response but thank you for taking the time to comment and the kind words. :)
Thanks, looks like a great option for my minimalist snow camping...
Absolutely! My experience with snow camping and building structures or quinzees is a telescopic handle really saves the back and allows for more ergonomic shoveling, and a large flat blade with minimal contours or folding helps for shaping and this has both. :)
Love it, great video man!
Hi, my apologies for the unacceptably slow response. My main focus these days is the GREYWOLF Bike channel and last year was terrible conditions in my area, but I do plan to be active on the GREYWOLF Ski channel this season. Thank you for taking the time to comment and I sincerely appreciate the kind words. :)
