“The Convergent Warrior” Art by Deana Caroon This piece goes out to my fellow IIH and Spontaneous CSF Leak Warriors! Like us, the porcupine has evolved as I feel we have to. I have had over 20 Lumbar punctures(I have honestly lost count there have been so many) going through diagnosis for IIH and to relieve pressure from my brain, or to repair CSF leaks on my spine, so at times, I guess you could say I feel like a Porcupine with quills in my spine at times. The memories of all of the needles that have penetrated an area that should not be touched…unforgettable. Those of us that have been through these procedures know that they will help us, but I fear them as well, as I also have Ehlers-Dalos syndrome, and if done incorrectly they can cause yet another leak. It is a catch-22, it must be done, but scary as hell. I believe that’s why they call us warriors or use the term invisible illness. Looking at us, how could you tell? We smile and we hide under these smiles, and we go about life, I think for me anyways, it is because I want my life back so badly. I know it will never be the same though. This brings me to the amazing porcupine. Did you know that this amazing creature has evolved its spine independently? Could you imagine if we could do the same, and our spines, and brain pressure just began to regulate themselves? Realistically though; here is to dreaming.. and our amazing surgeons, and doctors finding that magical cure for us! Sending love and light Warriors- Xoxo- Deanna

I sold one of these beauties this week. Which makes my heart happy because it is my birthday week and the original piece of work is in honor of my birthstone and my husbands as well ,the Amethyst. It is also in honor of our birth flower the Iris. We celebrate the same birthday which is the same down to the day and year. Talk about two people that are meant to be together. We had no idea for the first month or so that we were dating so it was pretty cool when we found out. Over the years we have definitely found that we have many things that make us unique but also many things that we share as fellow Aquarians. Love you always babe. Xo- Deanna
