I'd suggest starting with the basic heart bag (without ruffle steps) first, just to practice curved stitching. You can always add ruffles once you're comfortable with the basics!

Curves are a bit hard to sew as a beginner, and so are ruffles. I'd recommend practicing sewing curves on old fabric before you start this with your nice fabric. Also you can buy ruffled trim.

@SewinglyCarol It really was great! I can't tell you how many times I watched other videos (when I was relearning how to sew) where the camera angle was, less than optimally, trying to show how to do the first 2 techniques in your video. It took a lot of 'head scratching' to finally figure out what, and how, they were doing it. I've never seen the 3rd technique you shared. I'll be adding this video to my TH-cam sewing list. My brain keeps coming back to the 3rd one - trying to decide if it could be used to make cinch sacks (small jewelry bags, gift sacks, etc.). I'll have to watch it again and see if I can figure that out. Thanks!

The fleece is used to create structure for the bag bottom, and yes, the lining is made with cotton fabric!
