    weld prep is very important. bevel edge of cylinder rod grinding way past the electro hardened chrome plating. a 7018 root pass couldn't hurt and for gods sake get a bottle of stargon gas. or even 80-20 so you can weld properly with solid wire or duel shield . penetration is not a problem if you do proper weld prep grinding old weld out and beveling base materials. flux core is far inferior. trade that little 180 in for a 256 or even an older 255 and you will n ever look back. I'm sure if you can afford an excavator like that you can spring for a good welder

      I bought some solid wire for this but the chart on my welder says that the fluxcore penetrates more. I am thinking about buying a stick welder for when I have to weld thicker material. You think that a larger mig is a better choice?

    Hello sir! I just bought my first air compressor and it happens to be this exact model. @@williamzaparolli8874 Hi. I’ve had this compressor since about 2007 and this is the first time I’ve had to work on it. All air compressors accumulate water on the inside because the air gets hot as it’s compressed and then condenses into water as it cools in the tank. There is a drain at the bottom to let the water out. It seems like a leak would form before it would explode but I’m going to look into that.

    • @PeckerheadFixesIt
      @PeckerheadFixesIt 29 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@williamzaparolli8874 I just watched a handful of videos on TH-cam of exploding air compressors and they don’t look like they exploded from excessive rust. The only scenario that I can see this happening is the pressure switch failing to turn the compressor off and the pressure valve also failing to open. I feel the psi would have to go well beyond 100 for this to happen. It seems like a very rare fluke type thing. Water heaters do this occasionally also.

    • @PeckerheadFixesIt
      @PeckerheadFixesIt 29 วันที่ผ่านมา

      You’re trying to clean the rust out of the inside? Personally I would just leave it but you could remove the drain at the bottom and put some chain or bolts on it and shake it around. Another thing to try would be pour some evaporust in where the pressure switch goes. In either case you’d want to disconnect the compressor from the tank so you don’t get crud in it. Good luck!

    • @PeckerheadFixesIt
      @PeckerheadFixesIt 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Walk behinds are good for mowing horizontally on banks but not going up and over the top. I was working for a landscape company, when I was in college 2006. I was mowing a ditch with a hydro walk behind and got to a culvert. I had to either turn around or go up and over. I chose to go up and over, when I got to the top one wheel slipped and the other grabbed and the mower turned upside down and landed back at the bottom of the ditch. My boss pulled out and got it up right with the truck. We let it sit for an hour before starting it, it ran but blew so much smoke you would have though the whole village was on fire. Fortunately I didn’t get hurt. As for cutting the whole cemetery with a string trimmer, no way! I’m pretty sore after just trimming around all the grave markers, getting old. Thanks for your comment

    Wool washing tip from someone who washes wool (fleece) freshly shorn from the sheep which is full of dirt & grease .... First soak your item in plain warm water for about an half an hour. This will remove some dirt and prepare you wool for a soapy wash. Then 1.Two or three soaks in very warm soapy Dawn water depending on the level of dirt/oil. Soak for 20 minutes each time. Dip up & down like a tea bag at the end of the 20 minutes. 2. Rinse in vinegar water the same temp as the washes. Be sure the water temp is the same each time. You can go from colder to warmer but NOT from warm to cold. It does look like your shirt was bleeding some dye. Not uncommon.

    Could let it sit in the bucket with the soap/vinegar a little longer, and let the soap do the work. Could rinse it too. When I wash wool sweaters, I roll it in a towel and squeeze. It helps het more water out

      As a knitter, I'd suggest really just let it soak without agitation, and stay down around 85°. It's a combo of heat & agitation that makes wool garments "shrink" because the fibers will shorten & stick to themselves (becoming felt if the process goes on too long). By letting it sit still for 20 minutes, you don't risk changing the size of the jacket. Then rinse it several times, until water runs clear. Baby shampoo is a really good thing to use on wool as well (no need for vinegar with that). Also best to dry flat so it won't sag. As the previous person suggested, wrapping it in a towel, or laying it between 2 towels & gently pressing on it, will help get water out. But good for you for experimenting & bringing your jacket back to life!

    I didn't notice what part of the country you're in but, here in central NY we use a lot of salt on the roadways. My rule is to bring the plows (9 of them) to a car wash after plowing if the air temp is above about 25, it takes the salt off before it warms enough to really activate it. How about mixing some blue fluid in with your clear for the leak detection part? I know they say you can't always mix fluids but? And I use a small funnel with a clear hose for the top-off of my fluid so I can see when it begins to overflow. Ever thought of spray on bed liner to coat that reservoir? Nice video.

    • @PeckerheadFixesIt
      @PeckerheadFixesIt 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for your comment. I am also in upstate NY. The clear fluid I had on hand because I got a good deal buying it in bulk, I typically have the blue stuff. I think that mixing them would be fine though. Spray on bedliner for the reservoir, this might work but the steel has to be really clean for it to stick and it can still rust from the inside. It would likely still need to be redone after 2 or 3 years too. To be honest, I am hoping that this was last year plowing. Theres not much money in it anymore and its hard to keep help when we don't have the work.

I actually don't pay any of the 9 guys who plow for me. I buy them a truck/plow for them to use year round, and I keep all of their plow income. Thank you so much for video. I was waiting for it. Great video. so glad you did a video. there will be people watching this, they just haven't needed brakes yet, but then they will start looking for video. Questions: Where did you find info. to put into maintenance mode? I couldn't find it. If I don't do rotors, pads only: is the caliper piston in far enough to slide the pads in place? You hit menu button to get to a screen. What screen was that? What does the blurred words on screen say when you are at 20:38 on time line? So is this what you did to take it out of maintenance mode? 1. While holding brake lever up and pushing and keep brake pedal down. You then turned the key from off to on, (but not starting the engine) three times

    • @PeckerheadFixesIt
      @PeckerheadFixesIt 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @scooter12368 Thanks for the compliments. I looked on the web and a lot of general ford electric park brake related stuff but nothing specific to the Maverick. I was able to get into brake maintenance mode by pushing the ACCELERATOR pedal, pushing down on the electric park brake switch and turning the key two full positions to what would be the start position twice. To get out of brake maintenance mode I tried the same process but with the switch pulled up. When I did this it activated the park brake. I turned the key back to the off position and then back to on and it was out of Maintenance mode. I kind of did it on accident. What I read online about ford electric park brakes is that working on the brakes will trigger a check engine light that needs to be cleared but i did not have that issue. Its been at least a month of daily driving now and Ive had no issues. If you do pads but not the rotors, I am not if youll be able get them in without adjusting calipers. Depends how far down they are worn but it really wasnt hard to adjust the calipers. I am not sure what the message at 20:38 says. I dont remember and it cant make it out in the original video either but I have no engine lights on.

    Hello, the ball bearing shown at 11:11, was that included in the seal kit HYG 73239? Or did you have to order that separately? Thank you for the video! I have to do this project on my gravely with the same ZT3400

      Hey there. Pretty sure this is the one I used www.napaonline.com/en/p/BRG6203J I say at 15:58 that its part number 6203 which is a generic bearing number. I think any 6203 bearing that is not sealed will work. Good luck!

      You could also call hydro-gear and ask for their part number if you want to be absolutely sure. Ive had pretty good luck getting support from them on the phone.
