I hate Platform 13 at Manchester Piccadilly with a passion, especially when arriving via Metrolink Trams from Shudehill/Market St, especially when getting tickets and information, given the walking distances involved on 2 travelators and down a flight of stairs with a heavy suitcase - I have been using this station 21 years for SailRail services to Dublin via Chester/Crewe/Lladnuo and Holyhead - it drives me crazy that there are not enough direct services from Manchester to Holyhead, with not enough time to change trains at Chester and many of these trains don’t even call at Deansgate/Castlefield (for Metrolink) from Piccadilly to Chester - I now find it easier to go from Manchester Victoria to Chester with Northern on SailRail so that connections with the Avanti Holyhead trains are easier - however, the fact remains that the SailRail product offering needs a massive overhaul

I got the wales train from Birmingham international to Birmingham new street in 10 minutes fast train straight to Birmingham new street I’m going to try cross country trains from Birmingham international to Birmingham new station tomorrow after my work course

I was there Saturday for the first time since all the 2nd generation EMU's have been replaced. Not sure that the new units while technically superior have the same character.

Only see the odd 319 in the Piccadilly area now and that's the early morning run from the airport.

Should go back after the stalybridge blockade in march/april when the wires should be up on the stalybridge line but probably won't be energised til Dec though.

those new overheads are for the electrification to Stalybridge
