I hope this is not an omen for WW3 ?!
£8200 x 2 = £16400. Thats ridiculous. They also do one for £260.
+ the speakers don't forget.th-cam.com/video/dDpSEM-5Gs0/w-d-xo.html
How do they sound? Have you heard them live?
No, sorry. I have had to go by the specifications. I did some research and they get very good "Audio Reviews" but no I have not heard these particular speakers. I do like what they have done technically.
This is a vid great for someone looking at spending around 20 grand on a pair of speakers. There is no mention of that cost. waist of time for all that, don't have that sort of money. this come a cross like trickery in making people waist there time in watching a pointless video. You kept the price right to the end. I hope you get some flack.
I did not hide the cost. I said it was expensive when I started. However what you say is a lot of money and what someone else thinks is a lot of money is not the same. I am not selling these. I said I am looking at what the publicity says and trying to decode it for non tech people. There is always the FF button. Sorry you feel that way. It was a time consuming project trying to be balanced with the reporting.
Waste their time, you should be more concerned about your lack of common education.
$15K? Nope.
There are more expensive speakers. I agree with you. It is a lot of money
@@GaryKeepItSimple Audio has always been about the law of diminishing returns. To get 3% better performance you have to spend twice as much. To get 2% performance over that you need to spend twice as much as the second speaker. To get that extra 1% better than the third speaker you can double it again. Then someone comes out with a new speaker. Instead of chasing the latest and greatest, people should just listen to the music. I have a 20 year-old set of Canton speakers someone sold me for half price because they were on to something newer and "better."
The same applies to all life. I had, as a young person a 200 cc Yamaha, then a 500 Yamaha then a 1100 Yamaha. when I got to the 1100 I stopped looking at bike mags and going to bike shows because I had arrived and I did not want any other temptation. As you say Listen to what you have and enjoy. Thanks for your input. Have a great day.
1. In what world is this a bookshelf speaker??? 2. The bass spec is cited at -10db?! C’mon Yamaha. That’s ridiculous.
It's definitely a surprising take on bookshelf speakers! Sometimes manufacturers have their own unique definitions.
I have one! I like mine.
I am glad you like it. It is nice to see a good Walkman type player.
R u into Evp? It's one of the reasons I still use cassettes
You will have to spell it out to me. What is Evp.
@@GaryKeepItSimple so for the delay in replying Electronic Voice Phenomena
As a Science based person. In light of the Multiverse theories and also as a famous scientist once said: Einstein's perspective was that believing in a higher order or a sense of wonder about the universe did no harm and could coexist with scientific inquiry . This EVP ( I looked it up after you replied) I think has something in it. I do not know what. It could be spirits if that is a thing. It could be Parallel universe bleed over. It could be Electromagnetic bleed over either in the tape material or the electronics causing there to be a real recording of something that was not in the same time/place as the equipment. @@GaryKeepItSimple thanks for your interesting reply
hi have been there you have good points note please i have tryed betacam sp liner wow it's very good sony 75p decks they have alot of kick big time 6 x the betamax liner i got hold of a SONY A500P betacam digi to play a round with £100 in the uk it was ex hire like the ex hire suits i got used to wearing all the time before any wedding came up
Nice! Sounds like you’ve got some cool gear to play with. Those Betacam decks definitely pack a punch!
So if it’s 2% slow the dj gets to knock off early?
You are right. The time spent talking is reduced so they fill the extra time by slowing the music. If time is short (eg a long link) they reduce the time the music plays so giving more talk time. BUT this is on pre-recorded shows and if the timing is wrong it is very time consuming getting the time to within the aloted time, and a lot of rerecording has to take place. Dead Air is a no no.

Hi Gary, very helpful video! May i ask, what the name of your tone generator app is?
Keuwlsoft Dual Channel Function Generator. it is free on google play. it is really very usefull.
thanks problem solved . i just changed the cell and its working perfectly
Great 👍 Glad it helped
There is a difference between saying "the determinant of your stiffness matrix is 0" and "your static system is overdefined"
I am aware there are precise definitions in electronics and mechanics. I just hate the way some people hide behind or worse look down because of jargon. Most jargon was originally just short hand for colleges. It is not even transferable within electronics. Eg noise. On CCTV a snowy picture. On TV snow is rf lack of signals. The two engineers will talk at crossed purposes.
Thank you for your great explanation and the time you took to put this together. To think that I have seen store bought attenuators for nearly $100...I have a Behringer Di100 which has 2x -20db pad buttons. but it is such a clunky large thing, a simple cable with resistors is so much simpler and neater. Thanks again.
It was the norm when I was a kid. My Dad was an Electronic Engineer. We did things like this because they were either expensive or as rare as hen's teeth. Funny, the world has gone full circle in that regard. Cheers.
Ha sido una explicación muy completa, ha disipado las dudas que tenía con éste aparato. Muchas gracias por compartir. It was a very complete explanation, it dispelled the doubts I had about this device. Thank you very much for sharing.
Thank you for your feedback.
you have to insert a usb flash disc drive into the cassette player first and then record it !! thanks...............
That would be correct. It is not very good at recording.

@@GaryKeepItSimple Well I've just written a book about Bryan Adams, Tom Cruise & the rest of the Beacon Hill Base Brats from when we were kids if that's of any intrest
@@davidgagnon5581 as far as I concerned put the title if you want. sharing is caring.
I have a cassette I want to try this with but have a question. At the 2:08 mark, are you spraying directly onto the exposed tape there? Or are you just allowing what you spread on the cogs to drip down inside the cassette?
The problem with the tapes is that they are old and the lube used at manufacture has dried up. We need to get the lube to the tape "pancake" and for it to penetrate the layers of tape. The lube is safe but you need enough to do the job. I have seen other videos of people gingerly dabbing lube onto the tape. It seems to me, that this is a last resort "Fix" so it should be done with confidence. It is like knocking on someone's door very quietly to see if they are in. If you do not knock loud enough to be heard WHY BOTHER?. I am spraying into the cassette gap to reach the spooled tape. I hope that helps.
Having an warning sound on my phone give me an heart attack
At least you will know what is happening.LOL
Ecclestone - my first Doctor! I love it
I thought he was fab.
Simply use Permatex extra fine graphite lube on the felt pad and run fast forward and reverse. Problem solved.
I tried the method with the qtips and lube but on a really bad tape no good. The graphite is not a good idea to my mind. Contamination is messy and preparation is poor. But if it works for you. This works on all tapes .
I've had a brief look at this before. It's slightly out of my budget though
I would love to be able to afford one. As I said in the video, it must be good because it is a Yamaha. Do you think it would get the best out of an 3600 cartridge? Or is there something better?
@@GaryKeepItSimple My opinion: nothing wrong with a 3600 or most other cartridges. They all have their own sound characteristics and you pick the one that suits you best. You can get an elliptical stylus for the 3600 anyway.
@@cuoresportivo155 The top of the range AT is £4500 I would not want to manually handle the tone arm that was fitted. My fingers are too big and clumsy. LOL
I think this in response to a video by vidtech "how well can your cassettedeck record on pure chrome type II cassettes"? In that case I want to add that he used auto tune before, that up's the bias 20% from regular type I bias, and then he manually adds 20%. So he's only underbiased by 6 (120% +20% could be 144%) to 10%, if the 50% more bias for chrome tape is correct.. I really should try this with the test tones and see how close we get to proper type 2 calibration
If you get in range you would have type 2 bias and type 1 EQ. So the tape would be like the chrome prerecorded tape that were around "back in the day".
Yes the previous version does have a nicer triangle window. I may be agreeing with myself here . . . .
Agreeing with yourself is a good way to stay sane.lol
UK’s miss use of wave length was to original cause of all the problems
The AM band was Originally allocated for Citizens Band Radio by the international radio band allocators, but was poached for other uses because AM bands suffered less skip and interference than FM!

Hermoso tema _a capella_ muchas gracias por postarlo. Son muchos los recuerdos del programa ''Deustche Zeit''. Saludos desde el Paraguay.
Thank you for your kind words.
Of all the video shorts I have seen today- This was certainly one of them.
One of my belts on the W-1200 has gone already. Compare that with my Nakamichi deck which is 31 years old and the belt is perfect!
All these people you photographed have boxes over their faces ... I assume a genetic trait passed on from generation to generation o7
Factual answer: I did not have permission to use the untouched photos and the kids in the pictures were my nice and nephew with the way laws on kids in photos these days are being implemented I though it was better to be safe than sorry. (they are in their late 30s now) better than being caught in the TH-cam trap where they change the rules later and get the video taken down.
There is a musical instrument mentality in high end Yamaha consumer audio. It isn't cheap.
Thank you
You're very welcome! If you have any questions or feedback, feel free to share!
Hi Gary, how did you get the silicone to get into each reel inside the tape? I have a can and thin spray nozzle. Thank you again. 😊
Spray the lube in to the cassette at the hubs and also at the ends where the the tape Comes off the spool. You just need to get it on the tape roll. It will penetrate naturally. But do give it time to dry before you run it in a tape deck. The propellent is needed to dry.
@@GaryKeepItSimple I have sprayed both hubs on both sides sir..Are you also saying to spray the tape where it exits/enters to make a reel/spool?
@@stefos6431 yes. you are trying to get a small flood to ensure it can get into the tape pancake. Be sensible but with care you should be able to get it in. Remember if it needs it, you can always spray some more in later.
Do you remember the doctor who song they released
I remember it happening. Can't remember how it goes.
That was a lot of work. Thank you. I have one of these and a true sony Walkman cassette player. The sony is better sounding, which is to be expected. So much tecknical sophistication was lost for tape machines and their production when the market dried up. Companies like WARW are starting nearly from scrath. It's a good first effort, I thought. By the way, I never recorded anything on portable tape machines. I always use my home hi-fi cassette deck. Those tapes played back on this portable are acceptible sound quality, at least to me. And it's nice to have a new worry free portable again. Best wishes, Steve.
We need people to buy it and they will make it. Cheers
Hi Gary, Can I use Silicone Lubricant on Non-XDR tapes also? Thank you
You can use silicon dry lube on any cassette tape. Always do a test first if you are using a different make of lube.
@@GaryKeepItSimple Thank you
thanx
You're welcome! If you have any questions or need more tips, feel free to ask!
Hey Gary! Hope your weeks going well! I just wanted to ask, sorry if this is a stupid question, say I’m recording a playlist onto cassette, do I need to set the bias for every song, or can I set it once and it’s fine for the whole tape?
It is not stupid question. NO ,once you set it for the tape it is correct for the whole secession. It should be good for any other tapes of the same type ( make series. eg TDK D). Enjoy.
Just to add. If you note where the bias settings are, you can always put them back to that position when you record that tape again.
@@GaryKeepItSimple oh wow! Thank you!

I want to plug ot to my guitar and record on my laptop what cable would i need?
You would be better of with the UFO if you want to plug directly. That is a phono input similar to a guitar pickup. However the input on these is RCA so a 1/4 inch or 6mm jack to RCA mono lead and set the options to mono on the input settings.
