    Hi CruizinMax. Thanks for this thorough video. It's the only one for this repair on a Metris. Got the same year/make with the code 027E. Dealership won't cover it on a Metris for the special 2023 revised emissions extended 15 year/150K mile warrantee. Yet they do cover this for vehicles with same exact engine on other models. There was no way I could do this job at my age. So instead I bought just the PVC portion of the whole part and replaced that from the top without going through the hard parts. Engine light after I cleared it does not come back on but I'm am still getting a code back on my cheap/inexpensive code reader. I have driven over 100 mi now and still no engine light, but still showing code on reader. The part I replaced is here 1:30 which you're grabbing in this video. This cost me 40 bucks instead of the whole part that was 600 bucks. Insane!!! I searched a number of times for a video repair on the Metris for this part. Your video was not only the only one I found but it was also the most step by step detailed of all the other models cars MB makes. So thanks. I'm still upset that MB is doing this job for the other models with same engine. And one guy in the comment section says he got his done under the warrantee. Not sure he has Metris though.

    My car has been sitting for 7 months please do help on what steps i should take before i start it, should i start the engine before oil change and spark plugs? If i disconnect one spark plug connection will it crank to pump the oil around the engine?

    • @cruizinmax4017
      @cruizinmax4017 20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      no need to change oil but if you will let the engine warm up before you do, disconnect the fuel pump then crank for 10 to 15 seconds to build the pressure

    I’m sorry, this is a late 20s white woman who has been driving this car since her dad bought it for her when she turned 16 and has done 0 maintenance to it and ignored all of the issues it built up until it snowballed into it being completely undrivable. I don’t feel bad. That is an amount of damage it is impossible to not notice before the “it needs to be towed” phase.

    • @cruizinmax4017
      @cruizinmax4017 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Even the ones that are maintained are prone to this failure, we get about 3 a month with same timing chain issue.

    • @dnegel9546
      @dnegel9546 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I have a 13 i maintained regularly (205k miles.). my timing chain broke with no warning at least none that was noticeable. One day i pull up to the gas pump and the car would never turn on again. Skipped timing. I really wanted a new 2023 traverse but the fear of dealing with another timing chain issue is not something i wanted to deal with. And the turbo 4 in the 2024+ is definitely not something i would even consider dealing with.

    Hello I am back 1 year later! Just dropped my Pan tonight. Did the rear diff front diff transfer case and transmission pan. New filter. Almost zipped off that parking pawl or whatever its called like you did to lol I wish you showed how you got the transmission fill plug out. You commented on how annoying it was to try to thread back in but never showed getting out it. What an absolute BITCH and TERRIBLE location for that engineered and designed by Toyota. Gave me nothing but problems. I am going to try and pump in the fluid with a pump through that test drain in the bottom of the pan instead because of that awkward shitty location! Cleaned up pan and magnets good. Using Toyota WS Fluid and AMSoil synthetic gear oil for everything else.

    • @btbam666

      Would like to know what you used exactly to get that out with and everything in the way. Torx 55 head i think it was but what kinda wrench to get the angle beyond awkward AF

      Nice, amsoil is good oil, maybe it was easier removing that plug for me since mine is a 2 wheel drive but still shitty. I dont remember what tools I used, this was a while ago for me.

    The slack there is normal. As long is it isn’t a ton of slack. Those metals are going to heat up and expand. There must be room for this to occur to avoid binding.

    Perfect instruction. It saved a day, I had the same problem. I wonder BMW did not realise, that they made the inside cable too short. To cut outside cable cover more easy, you can actually first pull the inside metal cable out, grease it, cut outside cable and insert the inside cable back in. Thanks a lot!

    Another way to do this repair would be to source the inside drive wire, cut it to length and simply insert it into the sheath without cutting it. One idea would be to use the drive wire for a weedeater. I'm not sure the size is correct, though.

    • @danarbuckle6640
      @danarbuckle6640 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I looked into this and found one problem. The flex shafts I found only have the square drive sections on the ends. The rest of the cable is round. So, cutting to length could be a problem because you may end up with an end that is not square.

    This may be a long shot, but I could really use some help. My 2016 Premium WRX threw a P0016 code (camshaft sensor) and throttle body lost acceleration. I replaced the camshaft sensor. This didn’t resolve the p16 code issue, and the throttle issue still remains. It was determined that it could be a faulty ECU, so I bought a brand new ECU, and this didn’t solve the issues. My mechanic and the Subaru dealership have no clue what to do to fix it… any suggestions or have you experienced this issue @CruizzinMax
