Not shown, I installed a Yaesu G-1000 DX rotor with a controller from Green Heron Engineering. It's all working very well with a very stable mount. Thanks to my friends for helping move the antenna from ground to roof.

These Apex predators are all muscle, teeth, claws, and attitude. They can cover uneven ground like few animals on earth, and they have cardio for days. They are excellent, fast swimmers and will actively pursue their prey into water and take it there. They are some serious business.

  • @bobsmith6079

That is not their fastest gait. When they're going full speed the front legs move together and the rear legs move together like a rabbit and they can run faster than caribou over shorter distances.

Wonder what a bears hit rate is on frontal attack. I read that raptors succeed about 27% on the first try. Dragonflies 95%.

I've seen a huge Black bear run up a very steep mountain as fast as any animal, we wouldn't have had any chance to outrun it at all.

I used to gallop tb race horses. It looks like that bear is going about 3/4 the pace of a fit race horse . Although the horse would go twice it's normal speed if that bear wer'e behind it.

Actually climbing a tree might work against brownies, especially larger ones. The way their musculature is designed, they might not be good tree climbers. Off the ground, they can't spare a front paw to swipe at you, because they need it to stay attached to the tree. Smaller bears like blacks or small brownies might not have such a problem with this. We do know that black bears are good tree climbers, with curved claws that work better for climbing than a grizzly's, but luckily they tend to be less aggressive.

Once you see 400,500 lb. bear get up to steam in a run,it doesn't look real how fast it becomes. And they can run for a long time if they decide they want something, they dont quit easy.

I spotted the action from about 1/2 mile away. Grabbed a video cam and tried quickly to catch the action. I had it on 800 digital zoom which ain’t the best and hand holding it! When she stopped and turned she was looking to see if the 2 cubs were watching. Did you see the cubs? Thanks for your comment
