She was surpised yet probably relieved to see him at her door. She needed him to talk her down from marrying the wrong man. She knew it. But she had to keep appearances.
Whitley may be the princess of this show that gets all the audience attention. But we all know that Dwayne is the main character, the hero of the show, the knight in shining armor.
The one little detail I thought was neat. If you notice, in this scene, they were heading up the wedding aisle. They get part of the way and stop and turn off from it. Symbolic like this is the conversation that shows why we didn't make it. A conversation that needed to happen so that they could see what they did to each other and at the same time what they meant to each. The love was still there. It was just stuck. Whitley was going to move forward with or without Dwayne the next day. Byron would have been a great partner for her. He just wasn't Dwayne.
This scene stole the episode for me, more than the wedding did! "You taught me how to love, Whitley"...."You taught me how to love"..."If we were all that to each other, why didn't we work out?" 💔😥
THIS WAS THE GREATEST BLACK SHOW EVER ON TELEVISION. THEY ADDRESSED SO MANY TOPICS, RACISM, DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, H.I.V, LA RIOTS, ETC. IT LEFT AN EVERLASTING IMPACT ON MY LIFE. THANK YOU, A DIFFERENT WORLD!
This and the wedding scene are interesting. Days past, they seem romantic. But this is fairly selfish and unhealthy if you think about it. Wasn’t this the day before her wedding? And wasn’t the catalyst for their breakup after their engagement HIM going on a date with another woman? What if she didn’t say yes? He would’ve essentially ruined an important day in her life. I look back at shows like this and see what we were taught about relationships. Poor behavior followed by love bombing. Just act right! lol I love these actors, and what these kind of shows stood for in general. But we saw a lot of unhealthy examples of love and relationships for sure.
THIS SHOW IS THE REASON WHY MOST OF US NORTHERNERS WENT TO HBCUs IN THE SOUTH!! AND COLLEGE DID NOT DISAPPOINT!! SALUTE WINSTON-SALEM STATE and ALL THOSE "NEW FRIENDS" THAT R FRIENDS TILL THIS DAY!! ♥️👑👨🏽🎓📚👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
I'm so glad for the era I was born in Different World, Cosby Show, Living Single, Moesha, Martin, The Parkers, seeing representation was phenomenal 🙌 👏 👌
This entire series needs to continuously be played. Every aspect of what they covered in each episode is still so prevalent today. The pre teens to young adults STILL NEED to see these shows outcome of life’s expectations and obstacles. No other series has come close to this series. Their growth throughout the series is what still makes it captivating to watch.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Hmmmmmm you set a standard and I couldn't hang. I don't think most people realize how good that line really is and what was really being expressed. ❤❤❤
Okay revisiting this so I can comment as I’m watching it on HBO Max rn….Jasmine’s accent drops a few times during this scene, they played the heck out of this scene, it feels so real!!!
The best scene of D& W; a close second is when she tells him she’s pregnant - “I’m pregnant touch down..” You have to watch the episode to understand the love and humor…
I enjoyed being an Extra on this Show, Kadeem & Jasmine Were Very Nice & Professional! I Was In College @ The Time & In The Naval Reserves! Now I am Retired With Dual Citizenship in The USA & Canada! I really miss this show!
Scene was so realistic😩… really loved them as a couple. The young people today need more shows like this… reality tv has taken over and I feel sorry for them. Hopefully they will look back at shows like these❤.
You know Dwayne was a solid dude, because even tho he loved this woman in this very moment, he didn't disrespect her current relationship by tryin to kiss her or try anything inappropriate. His character was definitely a true ROLE MODEL.
Bro...I wish there was a sequel to this show that showed their grandchild or daughter.

Amazing acting and amazing writing ✍️
This is when shows were real Love & HipHop and Netflix have nothing on this.

I’m not black- but I was from another country - I loved this show- I was addicted / all the characters were amazing!!!
Back when you could take pride in our culture
We had some bomb actors and actresses back in the day.
They needed this conversation in order to take the next step. I always knew you'd make a beautiful bride.....

Definition of right person wrong time
It's hard to tell how much of this scene is coming from the characters and how much is the actors talking to each other. Great acting!
Wow 😢
Richmond, VA ❤ great scene
I LOVED THEIR RELATIONSHIP! These were true relationship goals 🔥🔥🔥
*If I were Whitley, I would have never left Byron at the altar. Haphazardly, opened the door for Dewayne.*

They were beautiful together

You have to have standards to set standards. Most young people are not raised with standards today.
Loved them as a couple 💜
and they still ended up together, at last !! Tv's Greatest Couple😍
Man the ratings went thru the roof on that wedding

Dwayne and Whitley. Great television love story.

One of the most beautiful scene on TV show (to me) love, love 💕❤️💕💕 Dwayne and Whitley.. Miss them so.
Bring back these type of black sitcoms ❤
I enjoyed being an Extra on this Show, Kadeem & Jasmine Were Very Nice & Professional! I Was In College @ The Time & In The Naval Reserves! Now I am Retired With Dual Citizenship in The USA & Canada! I really miss this show!

I cried watching this...they don't make shows like they use to..classic category by far
I wonder how things would've happened if Lisa Bonet stayed on the show
I remembered being a kid watching this. I thought this was exactly what I wanted.
I was so glad that they finally got together.
Now THAT'S ACTING!
Spectacular writing. Romantic. Honest.
Yes I will.
I need a Dawayne
I'm STILL gushing over this! ahhhh
This scene brought tears too my eyes
