8Y RS3 & Friends Go to Wookies in the Woods
This is my 3rd time attending WITW. This year I got to hang with Shawn and his B8.5 Audi S5 and my brother Matt with his big turbo BMW 135i.
Fortunately I was able to install a few mods to make the drives more fun.
- Iroz Motorsport 5" intake
- Iroz Motorsport Charge Pipe kit using a TiAL blow off valve.
- Unitronic 4" turbo inlet
- Unitronic Dog Bone mount
Lots of scenic views and an up close experience during the annual VR6 Sound Off in Fontana Village.

Stage 1 8Y Audi RS3 Tackles The Dragon!

Just a casual stroll through the Tail of the Dragon while attending Wookies in the Woods. I finally had a chance to test the car with its new wider stance using 19x10.5 & 9.5 wheels and 275 & 265/30 Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires. I also added some Unitronic and Iroz goodies to the car, pair with the Redstar catless downpipes, the car is probably making another 50HP over stock. Overall, Quattro ...

Replacing my SHSAutosport trunk lip with a color matched rounded trunk lip. And swapping out my Carbon Imports diffuser with the new ECS Tuning carbon fiber rear diffuser.

Wanted to provide a detailed video on replacing the vents since I didn't see one posted in TH-cam. These are Design Package red vents.

How was the cost and install of your downpipe? I have a new RS3 on order that just finished production and is about to be shipped and I’m trying to figure out what I want to do for the exhaust. Do you have any recommendations?
Downpipes and labor were around $1200 each. Labor was higher due to needing to remove subframe to access downpipes. Being catless will cause your check engine light to come on so you’ll have to decide if that bothers you. Also, you cannot launch the car with a CEL, which is the biggest drawback. However, I keep an OBD11 on me so I can clear the code when I want to launch. But sounds incredible and provides a lot of extra horsepower. Hoping a tune will resolve the launching issue whenever a tune becomes available.

Nice! did any of the performance mods for better breathing help or is it really wanting a tune? Itching for Uni to release something soon.
Yeah it made a huge difference. I raced my buddy with a JB4 tune, AWE exhaust and intake and was neck in neck with him the whole time
@@AudiMod Wow that is impressive. Haven't done one mod yet. Coming from a fully built RS3 its tuff not knowing we can tune yet. Would like to learn more about your air suspension. Is it a kit that one can purchase and install themself or is this custom?
@@MODIT Airlift has a kit specifically for this car. I can put you in contact with a friend that sold it to me if you want
the marix led is very cool and definately noy a gimmik
I agree! Unfortunately didn’t get to film at night after getting this feature activated. But it really helps with visibility on dark roads
Hey I like the alloys, I was wondering for some time now how these exact alloys would looks so its nice to see someone with them. I have the KW coilover adjustable spring with the OEM dynamic shocks. have you changed your spings, they look electronically hight adjustable or something., do you get any tyre rub with those alloys. also what front and back wheele setup do you have? thanks

Thanks! No rubs, but I did slightly remold the front liner. Also running about 1.5° of camber all around.
Very clean set up ? Is it possible it run a 10.5 in the rear as well?
No not at all. 9.5” is max in the rear

@@AudiMod I agree with you the ECS diffuser isn’t as aggressive but follows and flows with the body line of the car along with the side skirts.

@AudiMod I actually just bought these side skirts; they look great! How'd installing them go? There's no instructions or hardware that comes with it from what I can tell. Does it go over the stock skirts like others Ive seen?
@@bizooty8782 yeah they just lay overtop the factory side skirts. I drilled 2 holes on the bottom of each side and used a flat screw to fasten. Pretty each to install.

Thanks! Definitely gonna tune it whenever that becomes available. Would also like to get the AWE Switchpath exhaust eventually.

looks great, does airlift 3p handle better than stock suspension? and why not coilovers? I'm looking into getting one of these in the future.
Definitely handles better than stock suspension without a doubt. I’ve always wanted to do a proper air setup on a car rather than coils for once.

It’s a lot of fun. It definitely creates a new appreciation for your car when you test its performance in the twisties.
Wait, how is this stage 1 without a tune? Are the ECU's on these 8Y RS3's still locked?
“Stage 1” is open for interpretation. Since there’s no tune for this yet we’re having some fun with word play and calling stage 1. Since it’s catless and has turbo inlet & intake.
What lip / diffuser?

I got pelted by a rock truck leaking rocks on the highway a while back..
It looks like they're just form fitted and the tool/hole is just giving you a spot to grab it or maybe release a bit of pressure
Yeah that's exactly it. I originally thought I was pressing on a tab but I was wrong.

Wow so nice car! Question: if you choose the Audi rings in chrome and Rs3 badge, will the exhaust endtips than also be chrome? Or could they be in black?
This car doesn’t have black optic’s package so rings came chrome. However, my tips were black from factory but I changed them to polished.

Oh got it. If you get the sport exhaust it comes with black tips. Just don’t order the black optics package so you keep chrome rings.

is there any way to remove that black honey comb mesh plastic on the rear bumper? i really hate that look. maybe put a a3 rear bumper on?
Front fenders are wider on RS3 so A3 bumper won’t fit

This. Most importantly in fitment is offset

Rears are et45. The front faces are sandwich mounted to make room for the 2.5” lips so changed the original offset. But it’s around 18ish

I got them from AliExpress. Surprisingly they’re oem, they have all of the Audi markings and part numbers on them.
The fucking 8Y is ugly no matter where you look at it, you can't fix it even if you put the nicest rims in the world on it.
You’ll eventually come around to them.
Look sick… any rubbing with the ps4s? Would u mind sharing the offset?
The fronts rubbed the liner but used a heat gun to get hot and push back to reshape it a little bit. The oem wheels actually rubbed as well with just spacers. The liner doesn’t contour to the wider fenders very well unfortunately.

Can you show us what the RS3 sounds like with the downpipe and midpipes you installed? The car looks phenomenal with this fit and finish

Old look was way better and more aggressive
Definitely was more aggressive, but just didn't match the side skirts and front lip as well.

You’re selling me on the paint match trunk lip, might do that for my A4. It gives it a sorta duck bill trunk like without having to get a new trunk 😂
Yeah I agree, definitely blends in with the trunk much better!
