Welcome to our channel!
Come along with our family of six as we explore, learn, and share the basics of homesteading, homemaking, family rearing, raising puppies and all the crazy adventures we have along the way. As a family we have worked hard to learn basic homesteading skills such as gardening, carpentry, canning, baking, and preserving. We look forward to sharing it all with you! You never know what we might get into as we grow and learn to live more intentionally.

Very nice. Great memories bfor both of y'all.

i should have watched video before commenting but always use cryovac bags with smooth side down to make bags or seal them fyi
it would go much faster for you if you froze the meat first then cryovaced it Much easier to work with frozen meat and much less messy
These look fantastic! If you want to have some fun, next time make in a 9x13 dish and top with Red Lobster Cheddar Bay Biscuits. No lie, it's fantastic!
@@treymcatee4473 we will definitely have to try that!
Yooo that's genius. I'm not a big fan of most pastry pie crusts (one of the few foods people prioritize texture over taste when you really need something to be good for both, imo) but biscuits on top instead sounds DELICIOUS!!
Why do you put the eggs at the bottom LOL
❤
Why would your butter, at like 80% fat, only last a week refrigerated? That seems like a ridiculously short shelf life.
Raw milk, not pasteurized and no preservatives.
@@Susan-id5xj yeah, that didn’t actually explain anything. I make and store butter and lard from raw ingredients and it lasts longer than days. Refrigerated fat has a LONG shelf life. Weeks and months- not days. Frozen fat has years.
Fastest way is get a blender and blend it
👏🏼👏🏼
This is SO COOOOOOOOLLL
My mom and dad put a commercial grade dairy processing plant together to pay off their farm in the 1950s. Before that, mom told about growing up on her parents' farm doing what your doing there. Thanks for the good memories.
Only stays good a week!?
Because the milk they use is raw and doesn’t have any artificial preservatives, so it expires quicker.
@@alanrollf2856 I can get about 7-10 days max out of it
Probably raw milk.
@@Susan-id5xj it is!
That kid did not stop talking he obviously needed to get some energy out before he hit the hay 😂😂
@@toastmane1697 that’s for sure! I love my little one on one time with them like this!
Are you aware you can over winter pepper plants inside over winter? There's videos on you tube about that. It will give you a head start on your pepper plants.
We also make homemade butter in our home. It is so delicious. 😋
@@U2ëë919ajanwo yes! Completely different taste from store bought butter!
@@homemade-half-dozen this is probably a stupid question but why do you only add salt to the top and not knead the salt into the butter so that all the butter has salt in it?
@ that’s just how our family likes it. But I have kneaded it into the butter as well. You can add all different seasonings to it!
@@homemade-half-dozen oh ok great thanks.
Really stupid question… does that change the milk from whole to something lighter like 2%? Or is that milk you get closer to cream?
@@ElizabethBerendt-ci5wx it’s not a stupid question at all! The milk we get is raw milk. When we go to use it we always shake it first because the fat does separate so much. If I’m scraping the fat off of the milk I’d say it definitely does change the milk to more of a 2%/skim milk. The milk that’s left after making the butter that I drain off, is buttermilk. I keep that to cook with. Hope that answers your question!
Such a good mama
Can't wait to see your channel grow ❤ try getting 6 laundry baskets and maybe that will help with laundry
@@lizzielamb3838 we might have to try that! And thank you! That means a lot!❤️❤️
You should be banned from sharing anything.
What’s that supposed to mean? As if you never burnt anything?
Wow... Nevermind
😭😭😭😭😭🙈🙈🙈🙈
I know you probably own a crockpot.
Use a crackpot. Made for you
What a bummer after all that to burn it 😭
Nice! Where is this? Looks beautiful
I’m sorry but I couldn’t even tell you 😅 It was near Butler, PA. But I have no idea where all we flew over.
Girl that looks good!!!
@@Winter-aka-Winnie thank you!

@@vickijones782 thank you!

That looks delicious!
Beautiful vintage deep pot!
Melt the chicken fat again and try to get as much of the residual gelatin off and can it too. Schmaltz is amazing for adding flavor.
@@maddonut621 I’ll have to try that next time. I have been using the fat to cook with. Canning it sounds fun though!
Sweet baby! ❤
It's a learning curve to discover the exact spot in the machine where it will effectively vacuum seal the bag. Great sale. I caught one like that a few months ago, but they didn't have that much available.
@@YT4Me57 my husband does all the vacuum sealing. You’re right but they are a priceless tool.
Fabulous find and smart shopping.
I love this, such a good idea
That's so awesome.. and what an beautiful kitchen 🙏
Sorry but those are the most Terrible tools you could buy.
@@thelastengineer2315 at that price point it really wasn’t a bad deal at all. More of a Milwaukee everything family, but for a 7 year old, these are perfect! Definitely recommend
That’s a great set of tools for that age it’s not like he needs the tools of a full time tradie at 7 years old 😂
Setting him up for the future good job pops!
Buddy's gonna be the coolest stump-hand in the entire school after playing with that circular saw! haha Would open up some great costume ideas for halloween too! Jokes aside, this is awesome. When we immigrated to the US, we were broke as hell too so my dad and I would just dream of things like this. :P Now I've got an armada. Great to see you are able to get your kid such awesome tools and let him learn how to actually get things done!
The whole time I thought that it was kid sized.
So good
You can just use that and make a small pancake :) or anything doesn’t need to go in the trash
@@JG-ix5xr I have heard of so many things you can make with the discard. I need to give it a try!
I add my discard to pancake mix or muffins. I also regularly make Farmhouse on Boone's sourdough skillet for dinner.
Yes, I've heard that. Never made sourdough because I don't like the sour taste, but it's an intriguing skill to learn. Never know when you will need to use it.
if you said you never home on halloween and you went trick or treating why not leave a bowl of candy for them to get on halloween in font of your porch by way happy halloween to you and your family 🎃
Looks like all junk food
