Are the classic servers still up for like 15 bucks a month ?

Here's the best tip to get money to level yourself. Just ask a SC crafter.. Be polite, ask for a reasonable amount and remember to thank them.. If some one comes to me asking for a couple of Plat for gear.. I don't ever say no.. just don't be a turd about it.. Oh, and once you do raids and PVP where you make good money.. don't stiff the crafters.. pay them well for their work.

I know that I am late to the party here, however I would like to address the long horse rides in the early days of DAOC. My son and I started playing when the game was released, we used to run from place to place in Albion because we didn't want to blow the over priced 5 silver for a horse ride, we needed the money for gear and Con removal after getting killed. How times have changed.

Had not played DAoC since WoW came out, so 2004. I remembered some things well, and other things not at all. Your "Is Phoenix Worth Playing" video was super helpful too, I had no idea about /train and was already 22, felt like an idiot. Only issue is, I have no friends that will play.... like you, I am old now, all my friends went and did boring crap like have families and dont want to play computer games anymore. The few that do don't wanna play DAoC =/ Oh well, maybe I'll meet someone in LFG. Again, your videos are a great help, thanks. Do you have any tips where I can go to get a better UI and better key binds? In WoW Classic, I have such a clean UI and well done key binds, DAoC is feeling very clucky to me. I need a way to swap to shield and 1 hander and slam, then whip out my 2 hander. I know I did it 15 years ago, but I dont recall how.

I really would not bother with DAOC anymore, and I say this as a many year veteran. It is really REALLY old now and the class and ability balance is awful. I have played every realm and every class and to this day there are still ridiculous overpowered abilities that have never been fixed. Add to that the Phoenix population is mainly all veterans who have played the game forever and any new player trying to come in and learn now, with any hope of competing, is going to be one long abject miserable experience of getting destroyed by elite players over and over and over again. It is an extremely high skill bar game, designed in a different era - and generally speaking most of the playerbase does not have the patience or interest to indulge new nooby players into their l33t 8man world. DAOC is very much of its time, you really needed to be there in the early 2000's to see it at its best when it had a high population and there was a place for everyone, noobs/elites/run of the mill players / decent solid players, everyone. It is nice to reminisce but that is about it. I am sure there are others who will totally disagree with this statement and that is fine. But if they are a 15 year vet who 8mans, then have a good long hard think/look at yourself and ask hand on heart, would you allow a new player who DOES NOT HAVE A CLUE into your precious 8 man set up and potentially lose fights continually carrying that person until they have learned the game? I think not :) You could always run with the zerg to gain some experience, but honestly I am not sure there is that much fun to be had for a new player now if you do not have a good guild to support you. And with the battlegrounds being totally devoid of any action (which were always a valuable resource for learning the basics of RvR) that option is out also.

I stopped playing for over 12 years and since heard and found out about the Phoenix servers and downloaded and played,with the good fortune of having played their 3 day event of pvp leveling in proving grounds just a day ago which ended,the xp was so crazy I was able to level a 40 Mentalist and 46 Ranger in less the 2 days,which is crazy xp,compared to the usual pve monster grinding! Perhaps it could be done with something like Fins in a group n Hibernia but the fun of grouping with players that you've recently killed in different teams of 5 just made it way more fun!

Heard about your injury, but hope you're doing well and still enjoying gaming. Played DAoC until WoW launched... 15 years later, I recently discovered Phoenix and this was a huge help. Thanks for the guide and helping me relive my preteen years. Cheers! (WTB that UI tho... :])

Phoenix is not the same it was in alpha so many shameless nerfs and the change to nf killed it for me.

It is a fun server. I played from launch for a few years came back to Uthgard server and notice the same thing. Mids under populated, Hibs always in organized groups and Albs zerg. Hibs have best group balance, Albs have too many classes that could be condensed and Mids have squishy dps classes. But as always get the right player behind a toon they will shine in certain situations. MMO's are a dying if not dead breed, but Phoenix is a blast from the past for sure.

I have 2 Level 50s on Mid on Phoenix

no one wants to group with me ☹️ so that's out of the list for ways to level up faster and better.

Are there still quests in the rvr battlegrounds?

To be honest, the RA5 abilities were more fun and the unique realm abilities for each realm. Now that everyone is "balanced", it's impossible to play this freaking server as 8v8. It's become all about zerg vs zerg and keeptakes & relics. It's boring if that's the only thing that you can play.

I understand personal tasks; kill xx amount of mob type then hand in the task completion token to your class trainer. But, don't understand Collection Tasks? also, in your description you don't have a link to "List of Midgard special mob types:"..

Nope. I back the pay server or cancel. I'm not a cheap ass like the bird's people.

Heads up - This video is almost 10 months old now and many of the things that I talk about have changed. For one thing, the frontier is not old frontiers anymore. Lots of other changes have taken place, and I can't really speak on them as I am no longer playing. I still encourage people to try it if you love DAOC, as my reason for quitting had nothing to do with my feelings about the server or the game and everything to do with an injury to my radial nerve that pretty much keeps me from being able to play anything competitively.

What kind of pc specs do i need to play this game? I’ve been out of the pc thing for a long time and haven’t played an old school pc mmo in a minute

Dude, I was interested in trying the Free shard phoenix but the circle running to avoid being hit by in melee styles because of the server lag is what I hate the most about the game, and I see that 5 minutes in the video, and again and again. I got my Berserker rank 11 in 8 man, I love the game, I despise the bug exploit of this game and that is why I'll probably never gonna go back. The game needs better netcode and it's too complex so nobody will do it. Therefore I've had fun with the game but I can't stomach the community that constantly exploit the bugs.

no you shouldn't , this platform is used as right winged extremist organisation action planning, their staff admin's team have several members who had a past with nazi affiliated organisations.

This is another server, so any characters on the live, broadsword server won't be available on phoenix, correct

My friends used to play this back in highschool! A free version now allows me to try it out! Very cool
