Magnetizing the Skorpius
มุมมอง 6K5 ปีที่แล้ว
This is a video about what’s necessary to add magnets to the Scorpius in order to allow you to run it as both the Dunerider and the Disintegrator. I apologize for my congested voiceover and occasional throat clearing, as my allergies are bothering me today. :) I hope this helps some folks in trying to make the most of this model for their Adeptus Mechanicus army

Magnetizing Armiger Warglaive bases
มุมมอง 4536 ปีที่แล้ว
This video only covers magnetizing the bases and feet of the Armigers. For tips on magnetizing the arms, which I chose not to do with these models, please see my other video about Kastelan robots. The freely rotating slot and tab system GW has chosen to use on these if similarly sized to that on the fist (and guns) on the Kastelans and the same magnets should work with no problem.

Some helpful tips for magnetizing the big fists/shootas and shoulder weapons on this model (and others.) Plus, bonus Ironstrider magnetizing.

    Thanks. Just got one of these and thought "well maybe this could be magnetized! Very nice tutorial and proof of concept for everybody who is asking themselfes if this works out well!

    great video. i was looking at my kastelan robot hands and i was like "how am i gonna do this" because I need to magnetize EVERYTHING i can. Dropping a 5mm magnet into the hand and just having it free float in there was an amazing idea. Worked out SO well!

    a great video mate. This has been really helpful. did you do the arm joints as well or are you going for the zombie look when they're double fisting ? (i apologize if that sounds rude ha)

      Sorry bud, I'm not a pro TH-cam and I'm just using an iPhone on a tripod. I will see if a headset helps.

    That is awesome.. I’ve already built my own, but while I was building it.. I did try to see if I could magnetise it.. could not figure it out. And after watching this I feel like a dumbass 🤪

    Damn, Sean. These look great! How did you do the heat tempering effect so well?

    That is an awesome tutorial. I was holding out buying these because i didn't know if they could be magnetized to this degree.. Glad to see that it's possible and works

    Thanks Sean! I was lamenting the fact that I would have to glue a single loadout to this expensive kit. Thankfully I decided to do a quick search and found this video. Now I know I can easily magnetize my bots. Cheers!

    also exactly what size magnets for the arms and inside the weapons? and what size are the tiny ones for the top gun?

    • @seanhoffman3853
      @seanhoffman3853 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the questions. I think I mentioned in the video that the magnets I used for the arms were ModiFX 4.75 mm rare earth magnets (disks!) I got from my local hobby shop. These are probably 2mm thick, which allows them to rest inside the hollow in the fists meant to capture the disks on the ends of the arms. 5 or 6 mm would probably give a snugger fit and might prevent them going on a wander in the guns. I had some 10mm disks probably 3mm thick that were too large to fit inside the fists. 4.75 is small enough to move around but too large to fit through the hole in the end of the guns or fists. The magnets on the shoulder weapons are 2mm disks 2mm thick, also from ModiFX. Both of these sizes I used are available with a drill bit to create holes the perfect size for the magnets.

      okay awesome, im about to go to my local hobby shop and fish around for some 2-5 mm thick magnets. but the actual magnets should be 4.75 mm? and the thickness has a different measurement? (ie the 2mm thickness yous poke of)

  • @tostadadenada
    @tostadadenada 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    hey man! curious, did you glue the hands/gun hands together while the magnet was inside? how do you make the magnets able to be free in the hands while not ever falling out?

    • @seanhoffman3853
      @seanhoffman3853 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also, yes: you place the magnet inside and glue the halves of the hands together around them. The key is choosing a size of magnet larger than the hole into which the arm is supposed to go.

      got it, i might bring a kastelan along to see. super helpful man, omnissiah's praise

    • @seanhoffman3853
      @seanhoffman3853 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, bring an unassembled arm and fist with you and make sure the magnets you get fit in the slot in the fist, and aren't larger than the disk on the end of the arm. Easy peasy!
