    Great video! But I think it's also good to mention the plastic inlet strainer, and the sintered bronze filter that's in the inlet side of most solenoid valves. If either of these gets clogged with rust, or calcium and lime, the flow through the valve can be impeded and you will think the solenoid valve isn't operating.

  • @EchoBravo2
    @EchoBravo2 12 วันที่ผ่านมา

    @OnTimeMall thanks for sharing the info! In 3:00 you mentioned that if too much water going out of solenoid valve, it could overflow the pad and cause leakage. Is a very high water pressure going into the solenoid valve can also cause the leakage or the solenoid valve able to suppress the pressure? I have a SharkBite with a tap to control the water pressure.

    • @jayguliano3144
      @jayguliano3144 12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The replaceable nylon orifice controls the water volume. This is talked about at 2:52 in the video. High water pressure going to the solenoid valve is not usually an issue. You don't regulate the water volume with a hand valve ahead of the humidifier.

    I noticed my frame has a pretty big amount of space at the top and it seems like water is splashing up and running down the access panel door and then leaking out and rusting the door screw. I pushed the frame up as high as it will go while still having the bottom connect into the drain. Fingers crossed because this is getting annoying. I also turned the water supply valve down (closed it a little) to try to slow the water pressure down

    • @Jayguliano
      @Jayguliano 17 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Water volume is regulated by an orifice at the solenoid valve. You don’t control it with your hand valve. It’s common for the feed hose to spring a leak as well. The drain should have a trickle of water running down it that is just above a drip. It should not run out like a garden hose. The pad frame should fit fairly close. Orifices do wear out over time and plug or get larger and allow too much water to flow

  • @chicagowsox212
    @chicagowsox212 18 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Thanks for the vid. Mine has been leaking out of the front door panel. Seems like water pressure is too high but it wasn’t too high when it was installed about 14 months ago. I change the pad 3 times per winter due to a lot of lime in the water. Even with a fresh pad it’s dripping out and the screw that holds the door on is all rusty. I’ve tried to turn the water pressure down. That helps a little but not all the way. Drain tubing is clear and free. So annoying!!!

    • @Jayguliano
      @Jayguliano 17 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It’s possible for water pressure to change. Water pressure in the winter are often higher since no one is watering the plants or washing their cars in the driveway. A whole house pressure regulator solves that issue.

    Watch the video several times. You either have an orifice that needs to be replaced because the hole in it is too large, a cracked feed tube, or the internals inside the cabinet are not assembled correctly. Pull the cover off and look inside, like in the video, to ensure it is correctly assembled and the feed tube is connected at the top. Most of the time, the problem is a cracked feed tube.

      There are 3 terminals on most analog duct mount humidistats. If your unit never worked properly they may have used the wrong 2 terminals. One is common, one is normally open and the other is normally closed. Basically one is common, one is for a dehumidifier and one is for a humidifier.

    Hello! I have an old Allied Products Division of Carrier Corp. Electronic Air Cleaner, similar to the one you have. I purchased my home in 2016 and all the inner cells and pre-filters were missing from the unit. The power was disconnected from the unit to the furnace , but I was able to get a few wires reconnected to see the power light did come back on. I was first considering buying a whole new updated unit, but if it was possible to track down replacement cells and prefilter parts, would you have any ideas where I could find these parts? The inside cover shows it as a Listed Electrostatic Air Cleaner 472H Model: 313X114100. Product: 313X114101 Serial# U751417. Other numbers listed 2-04602 H . If I don't see a response, I'll try the number you have listed. Thank You!

    • @jayguliano3144
      @jayguliano3144 29 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It became too difficult to deal with Carrier for air cleaner parts, so we dropped this product line. There are a few Carrier air cleaner parts on our site, but Carrier obsoleted many of these products. If it were my home, I would replace the unit. As the units got older, the cost of the Carrier brand parts went through the roof for the few items that were still available.

      @@jayguliano3144 One more question? Are there still these types of Electromagnetic Cleaners with internal cells and pre-filters made by the products you sell or another manufacturer that I can possibly swap out for a new one? I'm not so sure about the Electronic Air Cleaners with the big filters on them, due to the higher air flow restriction causing more run time, wear and tear on the furnace and A/C. It would seem like the Cell type filters had a better air flow to them.

    • @jayguliano3144
      @jayguliano3144 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The temp sensor is mounted outdoors. Installation is a matter of drilling a 3/16-inch hole through the wall, mounting it at that hole, pushing the wire through the wall, and caulking the hole. The sensor needs to be high enough so as to not be buried in snow. Preferably on the North side of your home so it's not hit by the sun much. Some installers drill a small hole in the side of the fresh air duct going to their 90% efficiency furnaces and push the sensor into that hole. They then put a hose clamp around the pipe to hold it into place. The wire from the sensor can be easily extended to any reasonable length using bell wire. There is nothing special about the sensor wire.

    Great video but most probably it’s a lime scale block- take the solenoid apart along with the top pipe and soak in vinegar for a few hours/ overnight. It will fix the issue. I think the power test is redundant. Stand near the humidifier and switch off the system, switch it back on at the highest humidity setting- if you hear a click- the solenoid is working if not, you know it has to be replaced.
