Loved watching your reactions girl! The way i see it, the council is gonna get blown up but the key characters (Jayce, Mel and Victor) survive somehow. And S2 is going to be focused around the conflict at Noxus with Mel's family , Jayce fully entering a war with the under city after Jinx's attack of the council , Jinx fully embracing herself as Jinx, actually ironically trying to avenge Silco's death by carrying out his dream of freeing the under city but in her own rogue way. Savika is probably going to take Silco's place as the ruler of the under city (thus they showed her in contrast with Silco's now empty chair), Ekko and Himerdinger are going to actually imo oppose Savika's/Jinx's war ambitions and they will try to convince people that peace is gonna be the key to prosperity (they kinda hinted at it in the dialogue they had in this last episode, about giving people enough to live not just survive) and i really don't know what Vi and Caitlin are going to do, are they both going to go after Jinx, are they going to fight for Piltover (most likely) or will Vi have a change of heart during the war and fight for her people in the under city? So many things to take this show in future seasons, i just hope they do the first season justice in regards to the writing and animation.

Each person's room reflects its resident. For instance, Isabella's room reflects her love of flowers, but also the expectation that everything has to be pretty. Antonio's room reflects his love of animals, but it hasn't yet been influenced by Abuela's expectations. Others have pointed out that Bruno's room was originally like the others, large and spacious yet welcoming, but as he grew more and more distanced from the family, and Abuela in particular, his room began to physically distance him from the other members of the family. Yet Casita, understanding his overall feelings, created space between the walls in which he could live undetected by all but Dolores. On a slightly different note, Casita provides Dolores with the steps she climbs in 'We Don't Talk about Bruno'. Mirabel was five years old at her 'unsuccessful' Gift ceremony, meaning that her sisters and cousins weren't that much older, and Antonio wasn't even born. (Mirabel is now 15.) When Abuela forbade any mention of Bruno, Dolores was about 11, and young children have a tendency to take such things seriously. Therefore, even though she knew Bruno was around, she didn't dare say anything. The best she could do was to drop hints to receptive people like Mirabel, as she does in 'We Don't Talk about Bruno', which is riddled with hints, especially the last 'Do you understand?' Fred and George may not have seen Peter Pettigrew on the Marauder's Map; it would all depend on where Peter was when they were using it. If they had seen an indication on it of someone who was purportedly dead, you can be sure they would have said something, so the inference is that they didn't. Part of Colombian culture is that children *do* drink coffee; it's just heavily diluted with milk. Apparently this kid's parents don't add as much milk as most did. There are a lot of 'mirror images' in this story. Abuela's melody in 'The Family Madrigal' is the same as 'Dos Orugitas', and the opening bars of 'The Family Madrigal' are also used in 'Waiting for a MIracle' and 'All of You'. In addition, Mirabel's guiding of the nervous Antonio at the Gift ceremony is echoed in 'All of You', when Antonio guides Mirabel to the front door of the rebuilt Casita.

Just in case you didn't know but the song Jinx is listening to after the whole gemstone theft is called "Get Jinxed". It was the original song made when Riot released Jinx for the League of Legends game. There is an animated music video for it that was made by Fortiche, the same studio that was used for Arcane. I recommend checking it out if you haven't seen it.

Dolores, who can hear everything, was 11 when Bruno left. She probably did try to tell them, and was punished for lying because Bruno "left". So she stopped telling people.

It's said that Dolores was helping in keeping Bruno's secret of still being around.

Every building, animal, plant, tree, flower, object, color are real. Due to the political violence of the last 100 years, some family member has had to live exactly the same situation. Bruno's room was designed with an abandoned feeling to show he left the family and he was not part of it, like the room got worse with the years he wasn't in it

I really enjoyed this! Here's some of my thoughts: - WOW, this was a great holiday stand-in for my weekly therapy sessions, holy moley - my favorite and least favorite part (funny how that happens) is "Surface Pressure" - like, Luisa, babe, NEVER have I felt so SEEN, as someone with intense anxiety and depression mixed with generational trauma and being the oldest sibling, too. I can't even hear that song without crying, which sucks because it is a Grade-A bop! - Isabela, doesn't want to marry the village hunk but still goes through with pretending like she does for the family, who is extremely interested in growing plants other than the one kind of flower she'd been told to grow from the moment she got her powers (the inoffensively pretty kind), had my queer subtext-o-meter going nuts. So, I'm manifesting that Isa gets a girlfriend in the very well manifested Disney+ series. We are all hoping, we are wishing, and we are praying that our manifestations become reality, in the queer Encanto fandom! - I love how we're witnessing the maturation and growth of the songwriting power of Lin Manuel Miranda in this decade. Like, you can hear, in all of the songs, bits from "The Family Madrigal" to convey the theme of how everything that's happening is based around the foundation of the family, and that's SO COOL. Miranda used this style of musical motifs as a major method of storytelling in Hamilton (there's a Howard Ho video all about that - I'd definitely recommend it, as it's fascinating), but not as consistently as in Encanto. I love that he's actively experimenting with all of these musical ideas in every project he takes on, and in every new project, I'm always like "Okay, this is his best song yet." First, it was "Yorktown" (yes, I jumped on the LMM fan train with Hamilton), then it was "You Know Who You Are," now it's "Dos Oruguitas" - I only expect it to get better, as he does more! - I've been getting DEEP into the TH-cam reviews of Encanto, and I saw an awesome video about going into a deep dive on Colombian culture (as the setting of Encanto is Colombia) by Jessica Flores - so check that out, as there are some amazing insights from her - and Jessica Darrow, the voice of Luisa, has a TH-cam channel and is a musician (!). She has a jazz cover of "Surface Pressure" that SLAPS with Mike Elizondo on upright bass. Check her out at Jess305. I'd also recommend that Howard Ho video on TH-cam.

Colombian girl here and Disney definitely outdid themselves with this film. I felt represented with our music, food, but especially with having characters of different skin tones that showcase the people in my country. I also like how they included our violent history without putting us to shame like most popular mainstream movies and tv series tend to do. What I most like is that people all over the world related to this film as it was mostly about generational family pressures and expectations that cause insecurities with our self worth. The last two episodes do so much to completely reframe Mel's character. At first, she appears shady because of the methods she uses to achieve her goals, but then you see her backstory and family background and understand that using her persuasion, entrepreneurship and speechcraft to build the city into a pinnacle of achievement is a way of distancing herself from her mother and family history of waging wars and destroying the achievements of others. That letting your colleagues have their stupid illegal wine to gain their cooperation is a much preferable conflict resolution than the ways she's been taught as a child. You finally understand that she elevates Jayce not to manipulate him, but because she actually shares his idealism and dreams and wants to help him achieve them.

Viktor is just an introvert. Jayce does give him opportunity to join him on stage, but he'd rather let an extrovert handle the publicity. As an introvert myself, I can relate. Let extroverts do all that stuff 😅

In this video Jinx has already killed many of Ekko's friends. He has no reason to trust her or want her friendship back. (Notice they're painting his friend with pink hair who was killed by Jinx in episode 4)

Thanks for the nice reaction. It's very interesting to see various peoples takes on the movie. They did such a good job showing Abuela's being the source of the problem, but then flipping the coin and showing her as a character to sympathize with, not villainize. A story is always better when the so called bad guy is just a human who made certain choices that took them down a dark path. Ultimately, I think the true villain of the show was repressing the negative. We all have positives and negatives, but if we try to hide the negatives, we hide part of ourselves. It's better to just get things out in the open, flaws and all. Just a couple of alternative takes on some of the characters. First Delores had told people about Bruno all along. If you go back to when Mirabel talked to her, she mentioned about the rats talking in the walls about the magic failing. Later though, in We Don't Talk About Bruno, she admitted she heard Bruno muttering. If you imagine a young Delores going around telling that family with the afront to talking about Bruno, about how she heard Bruno in the walls, you could imagine their response. Most likely, they were the ones to tell her that no, she wasn't hearing Bruno, she was just hearing rats. She would know rats couldn't talk, so when she said that in the first case, she probably said rats because she was just too tired to have the Bruno argument anymore. Also, I had a very different take on Pepa. I never viewed her as self centered as much as constantly terrified. Imagine your every emotion being so publicly exposed for everyone to see. Then, imagine everyone berating you every time you had a negative emotion. It would be a nightmare. I remember once when I was younger and I got depressed. My mother was at a bad point in life, so her solution to my depression was to tell me to just act happy, even if I wasn't. I can't explain how difficult and how much energy it took just to put a smile on my face during those times. So, I can relate to Pepa some. Trying to artificially keep yourself happy no matter what would be the most exhausting thing possible. Personally, I'm amazed she could stand to even be near her family ever.

It's funny that you say "why can't disney have a normal family?", but the thing is that the Madrigal family is a normal family in Colombia. My grandmother lost her husbad in their 30's, and she had to leave his city to raise 5 children in another city. The relationships in this movie and the personality of "Abuela" reminds me so much my own family and my grandmother, and i'm sure that so many families in Colombia has their own similar story. Great reaction btw :)

You know, Delores isn’t really that much of a gossip. Meribel sought her out about the magic and just answered her question. And she kept Bruno a secret. I think she wanted to ruin the proposal. She didn’t want to see the man she pines after proposing to her sister.

I've been watching a LOT of people react to this movie, and there is a DEFINITE split between the people who are rocked to their _core_ by "Surface Pressure", and just break down from the lyrics... and then the people who don't get it, and laugh their way through the song at the donkeys and the visuals. The eldest children who had to be strong for their parents, and the younger kids who don't get it and never had that particular pressure. Also, Disney doesn't make movies with perfectly normal, healthy, happy people in happy, whole families because they need their stories to be _relatable._ And unfortunately, a LOT more people relate to broken family dynamics. And in that same vein, I think it's likely Disney always kills off a parent to start with because the last couple generations in the West have grown up in a pandemic of single parents. I'm gonna get really deep here for a second, so bear with me **pushes glasses up** -- birth control and the "free love" generation came about at about the same time, in the 1960s and 70s, and because of those two things, it suddenly became WAY more common for people to have kids outside of marriage. But since so many more parents weren't tied together by marriage, it was _way easier_ for one to leave if they wanted to (usually the father). But on the other hand, before birth control and "free love" and casual sex became popular, nearly _everyone_ got married quite young, and had lots of kids. That meant that two-parent families were more common, BUT it also meant that since divorce was _much_ more strongly frowned upon, there was a lot more tension in those "normal" families, because everyone brings their own baggage to relationships. So Disney making single parent and unhealthy families relates to WAY more people -- either through the single parent pandemic, or through the tension often inherent in families that fight through the really rough spots to stay together. Dolores didn't say anything about Bruno because of Abuela. But if you notice in the song "We don't talk about Bruno" when Dolores sings, she doesn't say anything bad about Bruno. When she says "Hey, grew to live in fear of Bruno" that's how the family make Bruno looks to the kids include Dolores, that's the main reason she didn't say anything. But then she still sings "I can always hear him sort of muttering and mumbling... It's a heavy lift with a gift so humbling, always left Abuela and the family fumbling, grappling with prophecies they couldn't understand" so she knew because she hear him that he was misunderstood.

I differ from you. I think Pepa is self center not because people are always pleasing her so she doesn't mess up the weather, but because she is sooo pressured to control her own mood every minute. It is something she can't hide, so every little thing that upsets or worries her can ruin her mood. There is a part of the movie when Abuela goes like "Pepa!" and Pepa screams "What else do you want from me?" like she is way too tired of having that pressured on her, and always trying her best, always trying to make her own brain happy not matter what. Can you imagine? She can't even cry, get furious or anything like that. In the second she feels like she is getting angry or sad she has to make up her emotions. She can't let it go. That's why at the end of the movie Bruno tells her "LET IT GO" like it's okay for you to make a storm once in a while. Like it's okay for her to express her true emotions.
