Virtual Flannel - Now There's More Triangles
it's so amazing
Thanks for the video! It sounds really cool! Can I upload my samples to this device?
You bet!
Dope track. Interesting lighting.
How do you connect it to your computer?
USB C
@virtualflannel That's it? The audio and MIDI?
It’s got every type of output you could ask for, peep the manual. Audio out midi out, cv out, audio and midi over usb, wireless midi. It’s great!
@virtualflannel That sounds dope. What's your favorite feature?
The punch in fx, brain track and tape track are really fun. But it’s the overall workflow that really sets it apart, it’s so fast and fun.
epic sound
Is this thing only made for House music can someone make a r&b beat or hip hop beat all I hear is 4 on the floor.
I have a video called making a hip hop beat, and also a video of the final song
What happened in the last 10 seconds that was going thru the tape tracks and slowed down, or you just resampled entire song and pitched down?
Yes tape track! It’s a really fun feature.
the sound quality of this thing is amazing. It really sounds like a finished song from a pro studio. Nuts.
I agree, it’s TEs, best sounding synth yet imho.
This is lo fi hip hop not hip hop lol nice tho.
Dammit every video I see of this means I’m gonna need to buy one
Instabuy
I need this to chop samples 😂
Same, I suspect there is going to be lots added to this machine, so I’m very optimistic.
@ this can be a monster… really cool this product… but i need that to buy that thing
I def feel you! Stay tuned!
THE PRICE
Sir, this is a Wendy’s.
I would buy this over the op-1 any day. This is what the op-1 should have been. The sequencer on the op-1 is not useable but this sequencer is like the op-z and i love it.
The OP-1 isn’t a sequencer. It’s not meant to be a sequencer.
Just ordered mine. This workflow seems way better than the op1
Not better just different, OP1 is one of a kind with the tape as the center of the device. XY is more like a traditional groove box full TE style. Love em both.
@@virtualflannel Other than the workflow differences, what are the big differences between OP1 and XY? I'm thinking about buying one of them. Thanks.
they’re entirely different machines, different FX, filters, synth engines, etc.
@@virtualflannel it's a helluva lot better to me. To each his own
Oh wow what a song. Sounds superawesome🙌🏻
🖤⬛️🖤⬛️❤️⬛️🖤⬛️
Dope beat! How much time did it take you to get it to this from where you left off in your last video?
maybe 25 minutes or so.
the outro break is CRAAAAZY
Thank you!!!
wonder machine...
No doubt!
Is that what song mode looks like? Was wondering about that.
For sure!
I'm boycotting anyone that supports Teenage Engineering. The industry is already tough enough, we don't need instrument companies fucking us with their greed either.
How is Teenage Engineering greedy? They make the 100$ PO series and 300$ EP series which are very affordable and great instruments. They are a very small company and the OP1 Field and XY are very cutting edge technology ahead of the curve. The build of their more expensive units along with their function unfortunately warrant the higher price tag. It’s an investment and a luxury, much like an analog synth or expensive rack mount mixing gear. I really want a Moog Muse, but can’t afford a 4000$ synth, but I’m not going to complain on the artwork of an artist who uses that instrument about how the company is greedy for making a product out of mine and most people’s price range.
@@virtualflannel A) because I am entitled to my opinion. B) Because they are overpriced and like I said, accountability. Moog is an iconic and historic synth brand, not a luxury. I'm a designer, I understand branding, marketing, and product perception. That's what they are charging you for and I don't agree. You are paying for status. Tell me you don't feel "cool" for making this video. I don't want people to feel cool, I want people to be able to make music. What I'm advocating is that if we keep conforming, brands will keep pushing for profit and greed over culture and impact.
I disagree, this is more a window to your soul than valid argument. Food is over priced. This Synth is expensive, but it’s not overpriced. They are selling it at a price point that makes it a viable product to produce. They literally make the OP-Z a stripped down version for 500$
@@virtualflannel I respect your opinion.
@@batteries_not_incwhy not? Heard of Armani jeans? Boycott Starbucks for 5 dollar coffees. Go play with the others
It's interesting, I didn't like the beat for the majority of the video (nothing personal), but then when you put it in that slowed down at the very end it took on a refreshing new life. That pad is heavenly. And the drums sound cool pitched down. Thanks for this demo of how flexible the OPXY is
No prob it’s weird exposing my process because it’s mostly fumbling about, but finding something cool in the end is always the goal.
A real inspiring performance, thanks for the video!
Thanks for the video! Great to see what people are doing with this new device!

insanely good
Hey you see this device (op-xy) as a replacement for op1 field or its different devices. And do you have workflow of using them together?
They’re different, OP1 tape workflow makes it a one of a kind. XY is more like a super OPZ in the body of an OP1
Nice music--the thing looks too complicated for me
🙏🖤 thanks! It’s honestly the easiest machine out there by far imho. That’s why I like it so much tbh. I futz about in most other hardware too much, think thing is really immediate. Also if you have any experience with the OP-1 or OP-Z you’re already more than half way there.
Yo sick video dude! How do you feel about how it handles chopping samples?
It doesn’t have a slice function yet, but I’m optimistic about the future.
I was waiting for this, Thank you so much for creating it, I will try later on. I had found kinda challenging the process on the OP-XY, different than the OP-Z. Are you planning to upload another one soon?
Nice tune.
yeah buddy! dope track nice 2 see you on!
U the best dude, thanks!!
killer 🤘
alright you sold me
can you make some hiphop
Yup
Im new to your channel, how do you have it already?
I’m a beta tester, been using TE instruments for over a decade.
@virtualflannel I see, by the way, I'm a freelance logo designer, do you know anyone would love to have a logo? I'm trying to find more works to have more fund to get a new laptop and hopefully earn enough to move to Sweden too as soon as possible, any gig you know even is not related to logo design that I can take? :-)
That's pretty cool.
Really cool jam! Would you say the OP-XY learning curve (for someone unfamiliar with the OP-Z workflow, and sequencers in general) is less steep than something like the Digitakt II? And for you personally, what makes something like the OP-XY more compelling than a Digitakt II + Digitone II combo, besides the portability? Is this more fun, more capable, more approachable? All of the above? (Sorry for the barrage of questions... you just seem like a good person to ask!)
All of the above and yes it’s WAY easier to learn than the elektrons.
How many hours had you invested to be able to offer up this smooth demo? Are your outro manipulations calculated choices or abot of random experimentation.? You make it all look/ sound so effortless.
Thanks for the good question, the first song took much longer than usual a couple hours, was kinda rusty and being a perfectionist. The other three only took a couple takes each, once I got into the flow by finishing the first one. The punch in FX to a certain extent I kinda just get lucky, but you can also sequence the punch in and tape effect and mute/unmute those tracks which means technically you can pre program your punch in fx.
Love this groove.Thank you.I am considering this...getting closer thanks to you!!
Very nice animations.
Thank you for this. Big influencers can be very excited over any new gear, but it's different to just see it in action by itself.
@@AzinFiro really appreciate that. I might do some videos talking about the XY, but I knew there would already be a lot of that so just wanted to let people see the machine.
@@virtualflannel The more, the merrier! Likewise regarding more videos of this kind.
Hey Mr. Flannel. I would love to see you combine the OP-1 with the XY. I’m interested to see how the two devices play together.
Definitely want to try sequencing the OP-1 via the XY
@ That would be so cool to see!!
Awesome track and awesome demonstration🙌🏻 does it have different tape styles as well to record to?
No tape to record to in the XY, the tape track is just like on the OPZ for live manipulation.
Very nice song. I like it a lot! BTW: don't you regret spending so much money on such a limited device?
It’s not limited at all, in fact I’d say it’s almost limitless. I’m a beta tester so I was lucky to receive one for testing purposes. The price is quite an investment, but I’d say you get more value in this device than say a Moog Muse. People think because it’s small it should be cheap, but it could maybe cost half the price if it was 4 times as big and didn’t have an internal battery. You get what you pay for, the OPZ costs 500$ XY is legitimately 5 times better than the Z for sure.
@@virtualflannel Limitless? Hmmm.... starting from the fact that you can't independently set envelope for each sound in a drum kit? :)
