Truth be told, that Seaman Recruit wouldn't have been eliminated from basic training after that moment. He would have had additional opportunities to complete that test during his companies 8 weeks. If at the end of the 8 weeks he still had not passes that physical test, he would be "rephased" and added to the company that was a week behind them in training. This would allow him another week to work at his area of deficiency. This repeats for a while until he just gives up or makes it. I met one recruit who had been rephased 3 times because he had passed everything but the push-ups. On our graduation day he reported to his new company, rephased for a fourth time.

As of summer 2019 if you did not meet the physical requirements you would be placed into remedial swim or remedial fitness and or both until you met the requirements. If you can’t get passed in that you then go to RHE (regimental hold element. You would either stay there as long as it takes to meet the requirements or quit the recruit training program.

Bless all the military branches, they have the hardest job of keeping America and the whole world safe. I would like to honer the Coast Guard for keeping the seas safe and helping those out on the water. I think the coast guard have one of the hardest jobs out there! Second is the marines. They should be thanked for keeping the world safe from all those bad people. I want to thank all the military for risking there lives to protect the world and for keeping it safe!!! : )

At 6:20 he said that it depends upon how mad the company commander is at you. Truth is, he is not mad at anybody. Everyone could be spot on perfect and he will find something to grind the entire company 4. Since CG basic is 5 weeks shorter than DOD branches the company as a whole has less time than other branches to get in shape and get your military bearing squared away. Plus the service is so small that there is no place for slackers to hide. Plus if you are going to break under pressure it is better to cut you loose from basic than risk you losing it when lives are on the line. A lot of Coast Guard jobs require high endurance, dedication and loyalty. We are an elite branch and if you can cut it you are one of the best.

It’s not that bad. Lucky part is they do there reception in 3 days of no sleep. Army reception is usually 11-14 days of not really sleeping and standing in lines, medical, dental, photos and doing paperwork with 1000 high school graduates.

Honestly, no one ever seems to know about the Coast Guard unless someone they know was involved with them, yet they are our shield and our saviors. You can't just be offensive with a military, you know? :P
